Where do I begin. Picked up my rental from the Hertz at Akron Canton Airport on Friday 8/30/24 that I had reserved 3 months prior, and was told several times I was lucky I received a vehicle because there were 70 reservations that day and not enough vehicles. They gave me a 2024 Nissan Rogue, white, with California License plates. It even had a blue star on the drivers side window. Drove to Garden City, SC on Saturday. Tuesday morning had a flat, put air in the tire. Called Hertz to let them know and was going to take it to a tire shop but they said I had to bring it to the local Hertz at the Myrtle Beach Airport. Got there and was told they couldn’t do anything because it was a Corporate Car and they were a franchise and the closest Corporate location was in Raleigh, SC. Called Hertz and was told that I had to go park on the side of the road somewhere safe and call their roadside assistance. I have AAA but since this was their vehicle I followed their instructions. Waited on the side of the road for 30 mins waiting for Emergency Roadside assistance to answer the phone just to be told I opted out of roadside assistance with Hertz so I would be better off calling AAA. The tire was holding air so I took it to the tire shop like I was going to do in the 1st place. They couldn’t get me in until the next day. So I took it over the next day and when the tire shop was checking me in they went out to the parked vehicle and checked all the tires before bringing the vehicle into the bay and came back in saying I needed to replace all 4 tires because the tread was at level 3. Explained that this was a rental and only taking care of the tire that had the leak. They found that there was a screw in the tire and were able to patch the tire. Thursday the service engine oil light came one. Saturday drove back to Ohio. Had the rental reserved through Monday but returned it on Sunday. Dropped the car off back at the Akron Canton Airport, got all my things out of the car. Was trying to tell the man who was checking me in about the tires, but he told me he was too busy for that and anything I needed them to know should be told to the people inside Hertz. They had a long line inside and my sister was on her way to pick me up so I decided to call instead while I was waiting for my sister. Was sent to voicemail and couldn’t leave a message because the voicemail was through. Was there for about 15 minutes when I realized I left my EZ pass Transponder on the windshield. Went back out to the guy I checked the vehicle in with and he was rude kept talking about how he hates his job and missed being in the Marines and kept stating how worthless all people are and how they can’t follow instructions. He couldn’t locate the vehicle in the lot so he called back and told them to stop the assembly line and locate the vehicle and bring it back over. They brought over a white Nissan Rogue but it had Florida plates and no star sticker on the drivers side window. They weren’t able to locate the vehicle. So they must have rented it right back out without checking the vehicle out, I had to report the transponder lost or stolen online because it was Sunday and hope that no one used it since my credit card is attached to the transponder and I kept trying to call Hertz to report it lost or stolen there too but kept being sent to the full voicemail so I called the reservation line and finally someone took a statement there but I never heard from Hertz at all about any of this. Hopefully the person who rented that vehicle after me didn’t have any issues.

The overweight bald(white guy middle aged) lot attendant they have should be fired. Cursed and screamed at me and made multiple obscene gestures, and I’m not just talking about the middle finger. It’s crazy that someone can act that way towards customers and still have a job. Seriously. What are you guys even doing over there.

Worst customer service I’ve ever had, I’ve been to many hertz rental places and it was never like that, and by far this is the worst , super rude employee , If i could give it zero stars I would.

New Management & district management is pressuring the akron & canton location to downgrade all rentals. So you will over pay for a full size and get a midsized. Save you money and go elsewhere. The district managers are destroying hertz. Sadly they have lost my business and all of my employees business as well.

Unfortunately I had a terrible experience with my rental. I booked a car with a company contract that is tax free and waives the liability charges. I was charged tax and the additional LDW charge. I was then told that the charges could not be removed before paying, that I would need to first pay then contact Hertz corporate to remove the charges. 4 weeks have passed and the charges have not been removed.

I recommend staying away from hertz. They will report your rental stolen and have you arrested.
