A must stop when we are in the area

Have stopped here in the past and always treated well. This time….not so much! There were 3 ladies there and it was obvious they would have preferred being elsewhere! They were all rude and just nasty. Will NEVER stop there again. Shame really as it’s always been a must stop for us. What happened??

Enjoyed the infamous Trail bologna straight from the source at Troyer's little market. Welcomed upon entry with a smile and willingness to be helped, I was served this sandwich for the small price off $3.50 (3 if you hold the cheese). I opted for pepper jack, but trail and Swiss is the must have combo for your first time. The meat is served warm which melts the cheese and is delicious!

Fantastic fresh trail bologna sandwiches. It's a old general store type vibe, which gives you plenty of options for some good local snacks and drinks to have with your sandwich. Love grabbing a sandwich here when I'm close by. Also very affordable.

This small plant makes it all. They were processing product and it filled the air with smokey deliciousness. If you haven't tried some Troyers Trail Bologna, you are missing out! It's not regular bologna. Drive on down and get ya' some. Grab some swiss cheese and crackers while you're at it and have a party.

First, you have to try Trail bologna. Originated by the Troyer family in 1912, Trail bologna gets its name from "Trail", Ohio, the home of the only manufacturing plant. While conventional bologna is made from pork parts (lips and butts) and any other meat protein available, Trail bologna is 100% beef, processed and smoked. And it is sooooo good. Top with Swiss cheese, spicy mustard, a slice of tomato and a bit of onion. OMG it is a taste of heaven. The store is in a 100+ year old building that maybe was a butcher shop, or drug store or something. There is a small 5 stool lunch counter. And it's staffed by two grumpy cooks/waitresses who do not suffer fools or tourists. This is NOT a tourist cafe. It exists for the local community. If you roll in with a deep pocket tourist attitude you will not leave happy and they dont care. But if you mind your manners you will be welcomed and well fed with the freshest Trail bologna in the world. Don't be the Ugly American in America.

My wife and I stopped by here yesterday 3/4/22. We enjoy driving around the Amish country, shopping the stores and eating at new places. I'd read about Troyer's meat's and especially the sandwich so we thought we'd try it out. The building and inside reminded me of old stores I grew up with. The problems began as soon as we entered. Well actually outside on our way in a couple were complaining about one of the women there. Anyway, immediately I was asked what we wanted with a continuous stare until I finally said we just got here and don't know what you have until I read and see things. I saw the annoyance on the face right off (we were the only ones there at the time). We ordered the trail bologna sandwich with two coffee's. I could see the coffee had been setting for quite awhile because of the amount in the pot but thought we'll give it a go. I asked for six sugars and cream and the lady chirped "six sugars?" Like it's her business! And the cream was powdered and she said she had to pour it in our coffee's. Weird to say the least. You guessed it, the coffee was like mud and the cream barely changed its color. I mentioned it to my wife and one of the ladies heard and was blabbering it to another. Not professional at all. We believe their annoyances were due to the fact that the three hens working there, one of them being the owner we suspect, didn't like their day cackling being interrupted by people spending money in the store. We spent over $30. Never again since I know we can buy their product in store's all over the area. Wish I could have given a half star.

Great. We enjoyed our lunch there that included Hot Trail Bologna with Swiss Cheese sandwiches. Very good. And we bought some Sharp Swiss Cheese to take home.
