My husband and I just purchased a home in Carlisle and were very excited to have a hardware store close to us. However, after today’s visit I’m sad to say we will not be back. My husband went inside to purchase wood and paint for a project we’re working on and when we he walked in he wasn’t greeted at all. I understand being caught up in conversation but they stopped mid conversation to stare him down.He continued looking through the aisles and a female employee stocking the shelves did the same thing. She immediately stared him down and didn’t say a word, just hurried towards the male coworkers. This interaction made my husband feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I’m unsure of what the woman said to her coworkers but one of the men said “there he is” almost as though they were searching for him. The whole experience left a bad taste in both of our mouths and didn’t leave a great impression of the store. We won’t be back and I would suggest driving to a big box store that doesn’t judge customers based on their ethnicity.

Well stocked, neatly merchandised lumber yard showroom. Good customer service. A good alternative to larger big box stores that may be farther away, especially if you need basic remodel / repair supplies quickly.Be ware, they do not accept credit cards for purchases under $5.

I’ve always had a wonderful experience here and they’ve become my go to for all renovation and construction projects. Friendly people that give you all the help you need. The quality of lumber is top notch for the price don’t waste your time at a big box store.

The customer service was good, the quality of wood purchased was superior to what you would get at the big box stores and the delivery charge was reasonable.

Very friendly and customer oriented. We bought lumber and they cut it to our specifications. A nice change from the big box stores.

They have a variety of things- nice hometown hardware store.BUT……… I have been several times (after not wanting to drive into Middletown/Miamisburg) and they are RUDE! Do NOT expect customer service!I don’t know if it is because we are fairly new to the community? But you would think all the more reason to be NICE!We took our purchases up to the counter and didn’t get a “Hi”, “How are you?” “Kiss my butt” -NOTHING! After finishing the check out; again NO “Thank you”, NO “come again”, NO “go to hell”- NOTHING!I am all for supporting local stores BUT they could at least show appreciation for business.Our receipt said “SAL” checked us out but that doesn’t mean that he was the one who actually did.

I tried to work with several other lumber suppliers before I found this company. The customer service was the biggest factor in my choosing the Gross Lumber Co. Pricing and wood quality were very good. Will use again for future projects.
