The owner is very friendly and the store is full of beautiful and unique finds. There is a lot of variety from artisan wood products to stained glass art to pottery, candles, wall art, jewelry, vintage items and more. For a relatively small store, the variety and selection is impressive. I bought several items and left a few behind for another trip. Loved it!

Love, love, love this store. The owner told us that 60% of the items they sell come from North Carolina artists and that their goal is to get 100%. They have a wide range of items from wall hangings made from wood that are shaped like our great state. They have cocktail napkins and funny coasters, beautiful handmade cards, gorgeous furniture pieces, and home decor things. The owner was so nice and helpful. I didn't take in-store pictures but posted some pictures of some items I bought. I loved this store.

We recently got a custom bed frame from Against the Grain and love it! I've been eyeing their frames for over a year and finally decided to buy one. The price for a local custom frame is great- $500 for a king, and we paid and extra $20 for some added height. I never imagined a custom frame would be within my grad student budget, but it was actually much less expensive than other wood frames we were considering. We went to the store to order and place a 50% down payment, though it is possible to order and pay without going to the store. It took about 5 weeks to be finished and we were able to pick up in durham near south point mall (much closer to where we live). Putting it together was easy. On occasion it creaks, but overall seems very sturdy. We hope it lasts us many years to come. I'm very please with our purchase!

This store has the perfect blend of local gifts and home decor! I love how so many items are North Carolina themed including wall art, prints, glassware and so much more. The best part is these items are made by artisans all around our beautiful state. I definitely recommending visiting Against The Grain Shoppe!
