This is a must see! There is so much history in this place, and the staff is amazing. Do yourself a favor and visit the museum, then swing on down to Childress Vineyards for lunch at the bistro. You will not be disappointed!

I had the opportunity to attend a veterans celebration there. This particular event was on honor of those of us that either served in Vietnam or in other capacities during that era. He graciously opened his place to over 800 vets that morning. There was one WWII veteran there, one Vietnam member of the Air Force that was in a B52 that was shot down over N, Vietnam and spent 6 or 7 years as a guest of the Hanoi Hilton. He finally made it home in 1973. For me it was the Congressional Medal of Honor that was there. For those that have seen the movie, We were Soldiers, that Mel Gibson depicted, he was in that engagement. It was the first time American soldiers fought with regular North Vietnam soldiers. Being out numbered 7-1 had it not been for the air support he felt the outcome would have been completely different. He was wounded when he attacked a machine gun nest that was routinely killing and wounding his fellow soldier. Most that were there was from that Era. This is not the first time he has done this. He routinely opens his door for veterans this just happened to be a special event. I think as a general rule All of NASCAR and it's family members are supportive of All veterans for any service given and Richard Childress is perfect example of this.

Not bad for someone who used to hang around the Mad House. Bowman Grey stadium is a family affair since my uncle Pee Wee Jones raced there years ago. Modified that is.

In September of 2022, I drove here by myself for my own birthday gift as I live in Lexington, NC not far from here at all (Welcome, NC) and I love museums, especially any automotive ones. I was not disappointed. I bought a ticket ahead of time and the relatively low prices are fantastic for how comprehensive this museum truly is, especially if you are into Nascar racing. Now I am not much into Nascar, but I am certainly what you would call an automotive enthusiast and I enjoy motorsports, it is just that Nascar is not the type of motorsports I prefer the most.I arrived and the parking and traffic was excellent with plenty of open spaces. I went during a weekday during normal business hours and there was hardly anyone here, so there was no overcrowding at all. Fantastic! The museum itself is a modern ,clean, organized building in an area easy to navigate... so no jammed city streets like some museums, which is so much more pleasant in arriving and leaving the vicinity.Inside, I checked in quickly with no queue and the sole staff member was professional and polite to me. Once inside, there is so much to see in the world of Nascar, I hardly nowhere to begin. You will see so many past famous and notorious stock cars in elaborate large rooms and well laid out displays, plenty of Nascar racing and mechanical parts like entire engines, tires, and transmissions to look over and scrutinize. There is so much to read on the displays and TVs and there are TV screens all over to watch long ago news clips and footage about the history of Nascar and concerning all kinds of historical races, past events, milestones, and timelines in Nascar history going back many decades all the way to the origins of the motorsport.I saw mock ups of pit crews, rooms where Nascar automobiles were designed, and I even walked through am entire Nascar transporter.I saw more real trophies in this sport than I had ever seen in my life by far. And there were displays of valuable Nascar miniature car models and memorabilia. In one large room, there was a display of the interior of a Nascar race car and an opportunity to sit in it. There were posters everywhere of Nascar drivers, cars, plaques, and descriptions of their racing history and career. The museum is heavily themed for Nascar, and it is more than just the Nascar artifacts and cars themselves, thus it truly feels like you have stepped into and are now apart of the motorsport itself or you are at a Nascar racetrack or as if you are somehow involved in the spirit of Nascar and racing. They captured the essence of this motorsport that is for sure. This place is a theater for Nascar actually.Overall, I loved the several hours it took me to tour everything here, I learned so much more about this motorsport than I ever knew before, and in addition to the main Nascar museum there is a small conservatory wildlife museum that it is also worth viewing through. The gift shop, while I did not purchase anything, I noticed has plenty of merchandise to choose from.Even if someone is not as interested in Nascar or motorsports like I am, I am an motorsports aficionado, this museum I feel still remains a treat to visit and see at least once in your life. I recommend the Richard Childress Racing museum to anyone that is able to visit here.

The museum includes many race cars from over the years. Cars driven by great drivers like Kevin Harvick and Dale Earnhardt are on display here. Some you can even touch and get inside. There is also a great exhibit of wildlife and stories of hunting and conservation on display. There are many photo opportunities for individuals and groups. Visit this museum as well as other racing legends in North Carolina and Virginia to get a full picture of the history of NASCAR racing. Richard childress is the only team owner with championships in all three NASCAR divisions: Trucks, Xfinity, and Cup Series Races that run on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday respectively.
