I am giving a 3 because our initial interaction with the store employee was awesome… we have been redoing our Bedroom and Bathroom and we used Sherwin-Williams from Lowe’s in the bathroom and loved it! So we decided to just cut the middle man and get the paint from the store despite the large price difference.. we purchased ceiling paint and wall paint.. we painted the ceiling and truthfully it looked better with just the primer than it did with their ceiling paint we aren’t novice painters by any means even though we aren’t contractors and have had better results with much cheaper paint.. to say my husband was annoyed would be putting it mildly.. so we stopped by the store our initial sails person was very kind however the other girl working was not.. I explained we had better results with cheaper paint and then explained the last paint we used a few months ago was SW for Lowe’s to which she replied that’s different than what we sail here I said “so your telling me the cheaper Lowe’s version is better” to which she replied maybe for what you are using it for! I think she meant it snarky but that is still not something you say when a customer is not happy!! So don’t waiste your money go to Lowe’s!!

Maybe experience is based on luck and timing. I did not experience what other low* reviewers did. I was probably the smallest sale of the day because I only needed a quart of a specific color/texture for touch-up in an apartment I recently moved into. They didn't have one of whatever the bargain basement paint that I'm sure the complex uses, but whatever, that wasn't terribly important, so long as the color was close, and it was. Perfect, actually. No waiting other than during the search for the base can. Good experience overall.

I can’t remember ever ever having a good experience in this store. Like today, wait 15 minutes for somebody to help, which is understandable, then politely stand a few feet from the cash register, waiting for one of the associates to help, but instead, she just stands in the door way and has a long conversation with her supervisor. Then, when she can’t answer my questions, she stands in the door frame, and relays my questions to her supervisor. Then her supervisor tells me that there’s no way the chipping of her paint project could be the product’s fault. Then just when I think she’s going to help me, she gets a phone call and leaves me standing there. She comes back and tells me there’s really not a good solution to my problem. It is a mystery to me how they stay in business. Any day of the week you can get better help at Lowe’s with the same product.

Very helpful staff. They didn't have the product we needed on hand but were able to call their distributor to check on availability. They ordered it for us, and we had the product in hand within two days. The store is clean and employees are welcoming.

We have been to this location 2 different times and both times the same guy acts like he is put off by helping us. First time he was sitting in the office with his feet propped up waited until we walked all the way to the desk to just look at me ??♀️ Yeah I need paint why else would we be here!This time we asked about prices he actually rolled his eyes?We just left and won’t be back to this location.Lenoir will get all our business for both our stores.

Paint is ridiculously difficult to get right now, but Jason at the Hickory store was really helpful both on the phone and when I traveled from the Charlotte area to get what I needed to finish the job. When I need something perfectly matched or have a need for more specialty products (or just something hard to find) I might start going there for the superior service despite the drive.
