Having been away from Fayetteville for a couple of years, I have to say downtown looks a little bit healthier than when I left. For one thing, the historic market house has been repaired. But the businesses looked a bit better, and the street looked nice with winter lights up. The basic tenets of the original review still apply: it feels to me like Fayetteville has potential to be more than it is, and even compared to other cities in the Sandhills region (like Columbia SC and Augusta GA), Fayetteville does not have much of a downtown to be worth visiting. I hope in another couple of years the remaining vacant spaces will have filled up and the city will be headed the right direction.

Cute down town. Nice shops and restaurants but lots of empty spaces. All places were friendly. Beautiful old buildings and architecture.

It's ok. There is no real vibe. Not good, not bad just kind of a dud. During events however they do a really good job. Not too many shopping places. Restaurant selection is just ok.
