The Durham Rescue Mission is not only great place to find gems but it's also a great place to donate gently used items that are in good condition such as items around the house that you no longer need or have outgrown. I love dropping off things that I know could use a good home, instead of trashing them or going through the hassle of gifting (or selling) them on Marketplace or Craigslist, etc. The Durham Rescue Mission takes all sorts of items and with joy. The guys that collect the items are fast and efficient. If you do go there to drop off things, I will say, be mindful of what you drop off and be sure it's not total JUNK. If you're going to donate, think of items that would belong at the Thirft store, and do not use the Durham Rescue Mission as your dumping ground for tattered items or things don't work. It's not fair to them. They also have a sign that says something along the lines of "we have to pay per pound for junk removal (and it's expensive) so please be kind and don't bring your trash." With that being said, they are open at super convenient times, and are located behind the shop on Glenwood. As of 12/13/23, donation hours are: Monday through Saturday: 9AM - 7PMSunday: 8AM - 4PM

No welcome or pleasantries upon entering the store. Very huge thrift store with so much to offer. The clothing sizes are organized well. The items are hung in a way for easy inspection by customers. The store is clean and well-lit throughout for inspection of larger items for purchase. There are fitting rooms here. I didn't find much besides a book during my visit here. I overheard employees talking amongst themselves and one mentioned how they were sick and tired of the customers. Very inappropriate. Not sure what this was about.

Great - friendly place. What is really great about this thrift store is all the items are organized! You can look for clothing by size and and if you want women, men, boys or girl clothes. You can even find styles separately (dresses, skirts, suits, shorts and pants)They also sell furniture, kitchen wares, appliances and sometimes even a car!The people are super nice and helpful ( I overheard a worker saying they have a phone number you can call if you need help moving something)I also like to donate here because the mission is wonderful.

the manager here is very unprofessional and should take his job more seriously since he brags about it being owned by christian people but he calls young ladies ghetto and judge them on their past when they come to volunteer. i came here for community service not to be judged on something that was an accident

I went there twice in the same week to drop off donations. The 4 gentlemen were so kind and helpful. We all chatted. On my second trip 2 days later I brought lunch and beverages to them.

I love their mission, their merchandise, fair prices, and employees. But what I don’t like is donating to them any more. They want all my personal information. There is no reason for them to know my email, phone number, or church home. I am downsizing and am donating a lot of things, unfortunately I will be donating elsewhere until that stops.

Bought a shirt. Got home and there was a used capped syringe in the pocket. Absolutely disgusting that this got passed anyone and put out onto the floor.

I encountered some very ungodly staff though they supposedly are faith based. They can be hostile & the facility Is ran with fear instead of love. It has potential but the people in leadership are not good candidates.

I love this store but need to warn others about the FLEA issueI have shopped here for several years One a year ago I encountered a flea on me while trying on a vintage leather coat More recently in the past three weeks I have encountered fleas twice Both times while near upholstered furniture and the book section Tonight I found a flea on me while reading a book from this store I had just purchased The flea may have come with some fabric GUCCI sneakers and just showed up with the book reading But it was the same book I was reading while near the upholstered furniture Now I am running around the house bagging up the stuff I purchased and dousing it with Boric acid powder This is no way to live Whatever you purchase from this store I would be very careful about It's a great ministry and I would still say the store has great finds Just be careful

Not only will LGBTQ people be turned away from their shelters, they will be kicked out of shopping at their thrift store. Beware and steer clear and send your business & donations elsewhere!
