Woodies is one of the only convenience stores in the area and with that being said the prices are what you would expect from any convenience store, they aren’t over inflated. They do a wonderful job of controlling the homeless in and around the store, as anyone who is familiar with the area knows it can be a real problem like at the circle K a couple blocks the other way.

WORST EXPERIENCE. I brought my car in for a state inspection and was told I needed repairs totaling $1700. My car was running fine with no issues so you can imagine my surprise. I went to another mechanic that ran a full diagnostic and could not determine how I was going to be charged $1700!! He was shocked that they would try to rip me off by that much money. It is also the height of the COVID pandemic (and mandatory mask mandate) and not a single worker was wearing a mask, not even at the front desk! I don't write reviews but I couldn't stand the thought of someone having to experience what I did with this mechanic. DO NOT GO HERE!!!

If I could give this 0 stars, I would. I live uptown and my tire popped less than a month ago (without a spare) and fortunately, it popped outside of this Woodie's. I normally have a tire shop I go to outside of the city that has been taking care of me for YEARS, with no problems and great prices, but instead of getting the car towed I decided to buy a tire from Woodie's. They priced one tire for $180- at the LOWEST- and desperate times call for desperate measures. Then, I get a call back saying my total would be $600+ for two tires and an alignment. I was SHOCKED and refused- I explained that I just wanted the one tire. I would get another tire & alignment if necessary at my usual tire shop. Whoever I spoke with kept saying they weren't liable if "something happened" to my car while driving and that I would have to "sign a waiver" or whatever. Fast forward less than a month later & $180 plus taxes on ONE tire, the brand new tire popped- no nail or anything. Just flat and needed to be replaced. I called Woodie's to see if the purchase was under warranty- and nope! If you can, go to a local shop, not here.

My last experience at the Woodie's in uptown can be summed in 2 sentences: 1. The owner/ GM agrees that there are shops that will lie to the consumer in order to coerce them into paying for more repairs than necessary 2. They did not, in fact, change the spark plugs as he says they did Our car had been shuddering a bit when idle so we took it to the uptown location. We were told that the car needed a tune up and were charged $500 for the work that was done. As soon as we drove it off the lot, it started shuddering again. We called to let them know it was still shuddering and they told us to drive the car around a bit and it should work itself out. When the shudder did not stop, we took the car back to the same location and they were asking for another couple hundred for ANOTHER tune up.. We did a little research on our own (because clearly these people couldn't be bothered) and decided to spend $40 on spark plugs and replace them ourselves. It's been a week and the car has not shuddered once. We called to figure out what exactly is included in the tune up we paid for and was told that spark plug replacements are included. So my boyfriend took the car back again, with the old, black, misfiring spark plugs in hand, and asked why they had not been replaced as he was told they would be. The owner got incredibly defensive and tried to say that other repair shops will show you other spark plugs to try to get you to pay for more work than necessary. He didn't realize that we had done the work ourselves. He then tried to back peddle to say that the spark plugs in his hand would NOT have needed replacement anyway because they "weren't completely black"... but it's included in a tune up? If I am paying $500 for a tune up, and spark plugs are included in that price, than you had better make sure you replace them! Criminal business practices.

I went to Woodie's for a Saturday morning oil change. I dropped off my car and came back to pick it up. The service was great and affordable. Highly recommend

I have no idea why reviews for the car repair are showing up for the "cafe", but for the record, this review is for the convenience store. While the store could benefit from longer hours (especially on Sundays) and a wider selection, should correct their abhorrent practice of not clearly posting the prices of their beer, and does not merit a "cafe" label, it is not otherwise objectionable.

Bad prices. $368.00 for a transmission fluid change. Unfair price. Can do it myself in 1 hour.

The whole team here provides such excellence service! I am so happy to have found them after moving here from out of state. They are trustworthy, dependable and friendly. Bobby and Tom make you feel like family and Lorenzo does an excellent job with my service, whether it's an oil change or topping off my tires. Thank you to the whole team! Highly recommend!

My coolant light came on yesterday so I drove into Woodie's to see if someone could take a look. Was politely greeted when I walked in. A gentleman took a quick look and walked to the back to grab some coolant. (While he was away, one of the mechanics saw me standing there and asked if I was being helped, I told him I was). The gentleman came back, added the coolant, and suggested I get it checked by whomever services my car to ensure there wasn't a leak. No strings, just genuine kindness. I appreciate him going out of his way to help and everyone's attentiveness to customers!

Agreed on an estimate, they called me midway through and doubled estimate(from $600 to $1500). Refused to release vehicle. Filed police report. These guys are crooks.

These people are professional con artists'. Took my truck in because of a over heating issue. Paid for a diagnostic test and they told me it only needed a thermostat change. Picked the car back up and it started smoking again right after I left the shop. Then they told me it was a head gasket issue. Took it to a different mechanic and they said the head gasket was fine. DONT GO TO THESE CROOKS

I use to come here all the time and then got a new car where maintence was covered for 3 years by the dealer. It was kind of a specialty car so I continued maintenance through the dealer until one day she died. AAA only covered towing a few miles so i immediately thought of this place. Unfortunately it being a specialty car and it being a major engine issue they didnt feel comfortable with fishing around for the issue. The mechanic kindly spoke to the AAA tower so they would give me a second tow without charge. For all those people who think mechanics make stuff up to get paid they could have done hours of exploratory work and charged me an arm and a leg for it. But they didnt. Needless to say the dealership wanted $7000 to fix so I ended up getting a new car. And so now Im back using Woodies! I scheduled an apt online which is more of a request. They call you back and set the actual time. I had a synthetic oil change, state inspection and tire rotation completed in an hour for under $100! You cant beat that!

This place takes advantage of people they think don't know anything about cars... 5 months ago I got two new tires and they way overcharged me for the labor put into them and convinced me I needed to add more and more to the bill. Just recently I got a flat tire in the middle of nowhere due to uneven wear and tear on my tires. Also overdue for a service and called to get in, set an appointment a week ahead of time and walked in to them telling me they couldn't get to me that day but I could bring my car the next morning when they open and they can't promise anything but can probably get to me early. NO MY LIFE DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND YOU. The way they talk to you if you argue is condescending and I DO NOT appreciate it. Do not give them any extra business, they're sneaky and rude!

We had an incredibly favorable experience with this location of Woodie's just a few days ago. We recently moved into an Uptown apartment which uses an electronic magnetic sticker to access the parking garage. Without thinking, I placed the strip on the dash of my Honda Pilot and of course, the next time I went to use it, the strip and hang tag had fallen into the abyss between the windshield and the firewall. We tried everything we could think of to fish it out, with no luck. We stopped in at the Midtown location and not only were they friendly and accommodating, but Glen, one of their techs, had retrieved the tag in about 3 minutes, saving me a $250 replacement fee. These guys are my heroes!!!!!!! Please give them a call the next time your vehicle needs attention! Glen you're the bomb!!!

I called in just to ask if they had coolant to purchase and after speaking to Bobby he told me to just come on by and they would be more than willing to help. When I showed up I pulled through their service center and they topped off my coolant and even added to my washer fluid. I was in and out in 5 minutes with no charge. These guys are serious about customer service and when the time comes for me to get work done I will 100% be bringing my car back.
