“I used to have a job that gave me as a inkind donation for 30 days that the nonprofit organizations to use me how they wish. Most nonprofits are always 1 or 2 people behind what they need to function as well as a for profit business. I did this for 3 years. One of my first volunteer jobs was Skywatch. I have worked with both local and national non profits and this is the only one I stayed with and did since day 1. I have seen a lot of the behind the scenes dealing and with some I flat out refuse to support them and also shout to the roof tops on how badly they are run or are fishy with the practices. Skywatch is the only business that is above board and it has become my "Happy Place"! It's not just the birds but the people and after I lost my 18 yr old son it became my lifeline! After he died I could not go back to a corporate job and deal with the politics often found in most jobs. I was lucky enough that I can survive without a paycheck from me and have dedicated all of my time to being a volunteer at the rescue. Which means 13+ hours a day 6 days a week and during baby season i am on the phone with someone thst entire time! I'm the on you speak to when you call about a bird. Being Generation X I remember my mother giving me a bird info book after I told her I was board and wanted to come into the house. She said here take this and get out... only for years later I now not only can identify multiple birds but also their behavior and can spot injuries from grainy photos! Saving birds saved me, helping birds but also supporting an organization that is a wonderful and much needed service in this area. It's not a small organizations and I have seen true impact of its services in birds that once were rare like Anhingas which were deep marsh birds who we rarely saw unless they got hit by a car to go to Monkey Junction and seeing 1 in most ponds or wood storks extinction in this area for decades to them coming back and nesting in Brunswick!”

“One of Leland's favorite thrift shops, the store is very organized and clean. You'll find great prices on high end items here. Just like most thrift shops it can be a hit or miss but if you take the time to go through all the racks, you'll be sure to find some great things. Lots of great furniture they put out in the morning. The staff is very helpful and they have some nice items under the front desk too.”

“I thought it was very pretty, and cute. I went to go see the exonerated there and the staff was very kind and friendly. The actors were amazing and knew their lines well. The seat were intimate and it made me feel like I am a part of the story and gave me some one on one with the actors. Truly great and I will definitely go again.”

“Nice staff, decent options.I have noticed that some of their furniture has been refurbished/diy'd and can still be considerably pricey to be found at a Habitat store. Otherwise - I do suggest and like this place. The one off of Market Street is bigger though if you're really on the hunt for something that day.”

“These are sweet dogs that were rescued. Intense training by special people. These fully trained service dogs go to veterans. Not all their dogs are rescues but all receive homes.”

“I am extremely impressed with Good Shepherd's House and the work they do to support our community. Their mission to provide food, shelter, and support services to individuals and families in need is truly inspiring. The staff and volunteers are passionate and dedicated to their work, and they go above and beyond to make a positive impact in the lives of those they serve. The shelter is clean, safe, and welcoming, and the meals they provide are delicious and nutritious. I appreciate the various programs and resources they offer to help people get back on their feet and achieve self-sufficiency. Good Shepherd's House is a shining example of a non-profit organization that truly cares about the well-being of the community, and I would highly recommend supporting their mission in any way you can.”

“I haven't shopped here but stop frequently with donations and they're always happy to take whatever I bring and are friendly and enthusiastic. I don't know if they use everything or what they do with whatever they decide they don't want but the people working/volunteering are helpful.”
