Losy staff. No one smiles no sense of humor. Maybe. They all need a big raise

If you're in the market for food+veg, there's Sunflower Market or Sundrost Farms in town. But what about all those other must-have home essentials you might need? Then you come here. This Houst & Son on Tinker St in the heart of Woodstock is independently owned- falling within the fold of the True Value brand. We've relied on these folks for years especially when we've stayed at a local B&B with access to their grill then come here for a bag of charcoal briquettes. We'll still get those- but now as things have changed for us, we're getting kitchen items, cast-iron skillets, etc to use on weekends when we're in town. The right side of Houst is dedicated to kitchen items such as cutlery, cleaning supplies, pots+pans, serving spoons, welcome mats+other outdoor items. The left side has painting supplies, plumbing products and other DIY projects that need seeing quickly. For bigger home improvements, ask. Price? It's Woodstock. I'm not driving out of my way to save a a few dollars. But, these folks have a rewards system which you can accumulate and use for future purchases. As far as service, it's unbeatable.

The selection available in this small town hardware store is ridiculous. Even though we are visiting all the way from the UK we bought a big pile of stuff (including a stack of cast iron) because the quality was good and they had things we've been looking for for a while. Prices are also very reasonable.

Housts is making a terrific effort to reduce single use plastic in spite of manufacturer overload. They even have a water filling station where you can refill your reusable water bottle. And they do offer some soap products for refill as well! Thank you Housts!

The best lawn chairs we purchased at Houst hardware in Woodstock, and we still use them every summer ( 20 years ago)! The best hardware store ever. There is always something nice to buy and the staff is always friendly! Thanks, K

Mom & baby friendly store! I arrived with my stroller, the man at the front promptly offered help. He gave concise directions for where to find what I needed, and the easiest way to get there with my stroller. Thank you for being accessible to everyone. Also I found exactly what I needed for a good price.

Just a typical day at Houst. I walked in with a bolt, needed a longer one with the same thread, and they helped me find it in 2 minutes. That's the way it is there, and has been for the many years I have been going there. Plus, of course, they have all the usual hardware/yard/home repair stuff for simpler needs!!
