I am writing to address the distressing situation at my home, 421 Bailey Loops # N, which was severely affected by a flood earlier this month. Unfortunately, the basement is still under construction, with the walls cut out about 3-4 feet from the ground. As a consequence of the flooding, the old concrete/brick walls in the basement, previously painted white, have peeled off, revealing the presence of black mold. This mold issue has had a significant impact on my health, leading to breathing issues and a persistent cough that has been difficult to overcome. Moreover, I have been made aware of a troubling fact that adds to my concerns. Previous tenants have provided me with proof indicating that Balfour Beatty knew about the history of flooding in this home, which not only flooded the basement but also resulted in water spewing from the garage during heavy rain. Despite this knowledge, adequate measures to prevent such incidents were not taken, and I find this situation deeply alarming.Despite the ongoing situation, I have not witnessed any workers attending to the basement for the past week, and possibly even the last 10 days. This lack of progress is deeply concerning, especially considering the visible black mold that requires immediate remediation. Additionally, some of my belongings salvaged from the flood are still in the yard, awaiting relocation back into the basement. However, due to the current state of the basement and the mold issue, it is unsafe to proceed until the situation is appropriately addressed.Furthermore, I must express my frustration at never being informed about the basement's susceptibility to flooding when I first moved into the property. Had I been made aware of this potential risk, I would have taken greater precautions to safeguard my household goods and belongings, ensuring they were elevated and protected from potential water damage.Since relocating to West Point in December 2021, I have endured three flooding incidents, with the most recent one occurring earlier this month. This unfortunate event resulted in the loss of valuable items, including a dictionary written by my grandfather, a book co-authored by both my father and grandmother, and irreplaceable photographs spanning over two decades, all of which hold immense sentimental value.I firmly believe that these distressing incidents could have been avoided if Balfour Beatty had demonstrated a stronger commitment to the responsibility of providing safe and secure living spaces for service members, rather than prioritizing profit-driven decisions. Furthermore, the limited communication with housing regarding the situation has exacerbated my concerns and added to the stress surrounding the circumstances.Considering the extent of the issues and their impact on my health and personal belongings, I am requesting that no rent be charged until I leave for retirement in the summer of 2024. Relocating my family to another home prior to my summer 2024 departure is not an option. If necessary, I am prepared to escalate this matter and consider reaching out to my congressmen/women to bring attention to the issues with Balfour Beatty and their management of the property. My ultimate goal is to ensure that necessary actions are taken promptly to address these concerns and prevent any further distressing situations for the residents.Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I sincerely hope for a swift and satisfactory resolution.

Beware of potential issues if you are being moved into Lee housing. I have lived here a year and have had nothing but issues. Serious safety concerns. There is no communication from management. No empathy from them despite significant and dangerous situations for my family due to their maintenance needs. If there were any other options in the region, I would say take your hard earned BAH elsewhere, the WP Family Homes has no interest in truly caring for military families. When I expressed concern for my toddler and daughter with a TRENCH in my basement they stated they would place boards over it. I have a massive man size pit out my front door and was told when I stated I was on night shift "well they are outside so it shouldn't be disrupting sleep". They are running a backhoe and jackhammer; the latter IN MY HOUSE. I have one viable entry and exit to my house that is blocked by a massive dumpster. Not a single phone call from housing on this issue.I have not had reliable heat for a year. I have had my entire basement torn apart for plumbing issues. It has taken 30+ work orders and issues are still outstanding. I've had to start looking for help elsewhere because of the situation housing has put me in. Absolutely dissatisfied with our treatment

Thank you Angel for your help and hard work in repairs. Maintenance was great and effective! We appreciate how you put residents first. I would recommend West Point for families, best service since we moved here in 2020. Thank you and God Bless!!!

We’ve lived in Old Brick for a year now and love it. Huge house, fun neighborhood that’s perfect for big families. Any maintenance issues (very few) were handled immediately. It’s a very old neighborhood and so a few issues are to be expected, but in 14 years and several duty stations, this is the best on post housing we’ve had.

Before concidering to live on base, please reach out to those that live or have resided on West Point. There are so many issues from BROWN water, lead in the water, rat and mice infestations, etc. Do your research before living on West Point. Balfour Beatty will not disclose all this information. You must go and search for it from the community that lives on West Point.
