Owner is nice but likes to talk smack about Bobos next door, which doesn’t bother me. On the other hand she is way over priced and makes up different prices from week to week. This was my last visit sandwich was horrible and meat was old. No thanks

Val is amazing! This deli has everything you could possibly want from beef to fish to lamb. This was just my lunch! She also has soup chips and drinks. If you are close to this golden find definitely come for lunch or buy some premium steaks for that BBQ! All local what more can you ask for! Tell her Chris sent you.

Talk about a hidden gem! I’m not from the area but have been here for a few weeks for work. On my first day, I asked the staff where I should go for lunch- they highly recommended a cafe in Heritage Center. Respecting the recommendation, I went to said cafe. The line was long, the cafe busy… very much like a Chipotle assembly line ordering process. I did enjoy my rice bowl as it was made to order with fresh ingredients. But was it worth $18? My second day, I returned to Heritage Center to find a line out the door of the cafe- hungry and in a hurry to get back to the office, I ventured into ValBen’s deli next door. The warmth that Val greeted me with was everything I needed to shift my rushed and hangry mood. I ordered a sandwich off the menu board with substitutions that didn’t irritate her. The sandwich was one of the best I’ve had in my life! It was huge- I didn’t finish it but brought the second half home to my 20 year old son… a sandwich connoisseur! He still raves about that sandwich - “the tenderness of the cutlet, the ratio of lettuce and the freshness of the cheese…”
I again visited Val’s with an odd request to borrow a knife to slice a pie I had made for the office staff. Without hesitation, Val wrapped and lent me the knife. When I visited again to return the knife, I discovered a freezer filled with homemade ravioli… lobster, spinach, mushroom… you name it. I purchased an assortment of the frozen homemade ravioli - Val insisted I take her marinara sauce as well. I traveled an hour home with the goods … and OMG … all I had to do was boil the water , strain and toss with the marinara! Incredibly delicious and easy! I highly recommend ValBen’s for a sandwich and also for a delicious easy meal that will trick everyone’s palette to believing they’re dining in Italy!

The owner of the shop is lovely, professional and helpful. We ordered an Italian combo with fresh mozzarella and chicken cutlet add on. It was delicious. The deli meat was fresh and the bread was soft. The macaroni salad was fantastic. We are going to make this our regular sandwich stop!

Very friendly employees, Val gave us some solid advice for cooking our meats. There was an excellence choice of cuts and the marbling on everything was excellent. The prices were definitely fair for the quality of the meat and we will surely be returning!!

This is the best deli in Westchester. I found it when I was visiting my parents. The Chicken Cutlet is left, Italian Combo right. I live in Brooklyn and can’t find better authentic Chicken Cutlets. It’s thin (pounded to tenderize), lightly breaded, fried with fresh oil. I also had a rice ball which was incredible. The rice was the perfect consistency and it stayed together, while being incredibly moist. The bread is freshly made in small batches and it shows. It’s definitely more expensive, but it’s worth it. This will now be my only deli when I visit my parents.

If I could give it -0.00 stars I would...as a matter of fact I WISH I could!!!Complete RIP OFF!!!! and I never leave reviews..this is my first!I went in today to purchase beef liver for my dogs, bought 1.5 pounds of frozen beef liver (all she had) and the price with tax was an UNBELIEVABLE $15.46!!!! I repeat....$15.46 for one and a half pounds!!!Now, yes, it was my fault for buying it, I know but I guess I was just in shock and just thought OK...I guess it's already rung up and allowed myself to feel that if I didn't continue the purchase I would somehow upset the situation and cause the merchant drama since she pulled it out and rang it up already.when I arrived home and told my husband he (who is white) suggested it was a racial thing. I'd hate to think so but in the past 6 months of buying beef liver at the farmers market and other local butcher ( who ran out) I've NEVER paid more than $1.99 a pound of the same beef liver, so I can't imagine anything else.Anyway racist or otherwise, I will not ever be returning to Valben Heritage Market ever and would caution you before you do...especially for beef liver, but then again, you may not have brown skin that would make her charge you filet mignon prices for dog food.

My brother and I went in right before they close and the woman working behind the counter still made us 3 incredibly large Italian combos. She even included some macaroni salad for free. The hospitality and food here is among the best in Westchester. I will 100% be coming back, the food is worth every penny.

Valben's was exemplary on Christmas eve. I called a few minutes before closing time (from across the continent) to ask about a super steak, filet mignon, for a friend celebrating her birthday. The top butcher had one more filet mignon that she personally delivered that evening. Happy surprise and super customer service. Deserves six stars!
