I ordered through Instacart because I am home sick. I received a bag of moldy carrots. I called the store and spoke to a customer service rep who was one of the rudest people I have ever experienced. He said I needed to call instacart. I said I bought the carrots from him. He was not willing to help even after I said he better go check his stock, because there is moldy food there. I live in Rhinebeck, a small town where they are the only grocery store and I will go out of my way to never shop there again. Not such a friendly market

Please don't make the same mistake i made today from this business. I went in here to get your average deli-made sandwich and although i generally get the sandwich with boars head ham and boars head cheese with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise for half the cost of what i got today with store brand ham and store brand cheese (Signature Club brand), when you factor in the kaiser rolls which tasted a bit borderline stale (that i couldn't put my finger on until much later when being eaten). when you factor that along with a drink (which posed a problem subbing in a less expensive PureLeaf Diet Lemon tea for my normal Diet Lemon Snapple tea which they were out of and which would've cost a bit less and would've been tastier), i only had a set number of dollars to spend. I mean there were diet Snapple's of peach tea in the bigger size but i cant stand peach tea and love Snapple's Diet Lemon for its sweetness. But those too were more expensive and i wouldn't have had enough money to pay for that on top. Thank goodness they had my backup in a size i wanted in the flavor i could tolerate on top. The rest of the order turned out alright at the register, though its always been a problem inputting my phone number and giving my points earned to someone else just because i didn't want to pull up my number from my Instacart app for the right number and entering this number into the self checkout and the only reason i use this machine when checking out at Tops. Ive contacted Tops Customer service and have had no luck getting this number fixed when they look it up by phone number - because much like other times i never have my correct card on me and don't run on keys and were running behind on time.

We are two seniors who use Instacart in Rhinebeck. We are totally satisfied with the fresh fruit and breads and everything else we order. When things get safer, we will shop there in person. The only complaint I had when I went in person, is that the deli didn't clean their slicing machines often enough.

My first time in this location. Wow. This supermarket is VERY CLEAN and brightly lit. The one downside was that the layout upon entering was a little bit confusing because patio furniture was set out to close to the entrance which could cause a bottleneck during rush time. Since it was my first time in the store location, it took me a moment to get my bearings and locate the sanitation station. SPECIAL COMMENDATION to the cleaning crew who did an outstanding job. Everywhere I turned shelves were well stocked and cleaning was underway. I even saw somebody in the dairy section sitting on the floor so he could better reach underneath the dairy case to clean it. As SKUs and product lines go, the selection was about a third less of what you would find in ShopRite or Stop & Shop. Organic section was limited but the basic provisions were there. I had to make a stop at the deli counter where Chris prepared a lovely roast beef and provolone sandwich for me then served it with a smile.

This store is outstanding. I am not sure if it under new management but in the last year or so, there is a big difference in how the store looks and feels. Always clean, always stocked and always friendly.

They do not follow CDC or NYS Health dept guidelines. Management says they are free to do what they want concerning Covid safety. It is obvious they do not care about customers. The assistant manager wears a face mask with a relief valve, and does not care that it does not stop air borne Covid. The produce stock person with his nose not covered. Not a problem according to management.I wonder if anyone in the back storage area wears a mask at all. I am sure it would not be a problem with management as they do not think the rules apply to them.

So,I always liked tops, except now during this pandemic they didn't set up anything online for people who have food stamps. Pretty much if you are a mother and needs grocery for your children you are OBLIGATED to go to the supermarket, cause they don't allow to use food stamps online in their instacard. That's pretty bad, especially for some old people who live with that and for single parents. I called them and the lady on the phone was just "sorry".Pretty ridiculous. After this pandemic I know for sure where NOT to go shopping anymore. They don't care about their customers at all

Don't bother to sign up and order using the Pickup Service from the Rhinebeck Store. As seniors, we thought this would be a wonderful idea during this pandemic. We placed an order on Saturday. The earliest time available was for Tues., March 24 at 7:00 pm. They have run out of items, which is forgivable at this time; but we just received a notice a few hours before our pick-up time that our order is behind schedule & to pick another time or cancel the order. -- There are no times available.

We went to tops last Friday, March 13th to get some items for dinner. We weren't prepared for the amount of crowds during this Coronavirus emergency and the amount of food people were getting. I told my husband that if it takes to long, we'll put our items back and go home. However, Tops was prepared. All the registers were full and many had baggers and even the cashier asked how I was, which I responded " how are you". We were out of there pretty quickly considering. All your cashiers deserve a raise.

Produce dept is a travesty. It is RARE to find good Fresh vegetables here. You can get some fruits but not vegetables , whenever I have veggies on my shopping list or hope to grab something for a recipe, I end up not getting it all together cuz it's so terrible. Always wilted, brown, old, crappy. ALSO BEWARE OF EXPIRATION DATES. So many times I have bought milk yogurt or cheese only to get it home and see that it expires the next day. They move the close to Expire stuff to the front. This has happened at least 4. times to me. I always tell myself to check but sometimes you forget . I once bought specialty BEER here that was almost two years expired!!!! I have twice bought cheese from their cheese section that was expired.

In 2015, the parent company of Stop & Shop and Giant supermarkets bought the parent company of Hannaford, after which they divested themselves of 4 stores which became Tops Markets including this one, formerly a Stop & Shop. Of those 4, (the one in Wappingers Falls has closed), I expected this one would be the most successful. Every incarnation of this store, from the original Grand Union, to S&S, and now Tops, has been somewhat unique to the area, because of the variety of items they carry. I've always been told that this was primarily to attract the Bard College students to this store. I think that's pretty accurate, as I was pleasantly surprised by the inventory here. Not only is it a good variety, but it was extremely well stocked, even after 6pm on a Sunday evening. The quality of the meat and produce was quite good. They had some reasonable loss-leaders. I liked the beef display, the beef looked fresh, was clearly marked, and it was quite reasonably priced. I'd buy beef here. The store also had a couple of specialty items I was seeking which I haven't found at other grocery stores locally. There's also a Starbucks inside, perhaps also to lure Bard students. Unfortunately the Like Affair (it was never love, sorry) ends there. Just about everything that was not on sale here was at least 20% more expensive than anywhere else I've shopped, if not more. That adds up. If I lived locally, I might still come here for convenience of one-stop-shopping, but for the miles I'd drive to get here, I could hit at least a half-dozen other grocery stores with more competitive prices overall.

Just a tip if you shop here, always check expiration dates! I notice this place consistently has items that are well past expiration dates on the shelves or they are nearing them in a couple days. I found a loaf a bread a week or so ago that was roughly three weeks outdated, yes that is correct three weeks! My husband went to buy yogurts the other day and noticed that some of them were 5 days past expiration. I have had to return items in past because I did not check the expiration date only to see its expired the following day. I think its disgusting that they try to sell their customers expired food. I still miss Stop and Shop it was so much better than this. Also the deli is typically awful. We dont even bother ordering meats from here anymore. The meats are either way too thin to the point that they literally fall apart when you try to take it out of package or they are super thick. Its like honestly no training goes to staff as to how to properly cut meat.

I see someone from Tops watching some of the reviews it's getting from all over. However, although I'm an avid shopper from Instacart commonly coming into this place (and still having trouble), I've been also placing orders on Instacart for a Shopping trip to here (for others to shop for me) and although the last couple times I've ordered deli sandwiches something was messed up (cheese was thinner than I'm used to and with today's sandwich, Tops used stale rolls that my Shopper warned me about after he handed over the goods; Tops used stale Kaiser rolls), it's always a new adventure to fulfill and something we are pushed to excel at. Tops needs to learn about selling bad bakery items and letting the customer know that they can't be made if they see the product as being inedible. I could have easily had found a better alternative if they would have mentioned the problem to my Shopper. I was so hungry, I chose to continue eating it anyway. I'm happy that you are improving, but it's too little too late. Yes, this store is still quite a bit confusing. They love to separate some organic stuff from non-organic stuff while other things commonly associated with organic they've combined with the non-organic stuff - I sometimes have to find an employee to ask. I often meet up with Chuck Sundberg when we're in the store. Chuck is friendly and would be more than happy to help me find stuff. I personally see that he's a stock clerk and wish he'd get a promotion to something a little more valuable to his time while keeping him on the sales floor, but then again, maybe he's a little more than what he appears to be doing. He's helped me find so many things and even when a product is confusing, he'll tell me exactly which aisle it's in and be right (over 90% of the time). You have a great employee on your hands, Tops. Keep it up! Other times, I end up getting Tops employees who are absolutely clueless. I've had Tops employees who've told me they've never heard about the products and try to walk me over to another side of the store, or there are others who will walk right on past and not answer my question when they are clearly the only employee (besides the register employees) in the store (which has happened a few times including twice over this past summer). I've had some really fool-hardy people from your Deli fulfill orders with wrong items because they weren't listening for specifics. My Instacart Shopper app checks for barcodes (including those from the deli) and when items aren't right my app will tell me and the customer won't be happy. Clean up your act here! There was one time at the Deli that Finn took my order, cut three pounds of several meets for my customer and each and every time he cut it, my app told me it was wrong so I ended up refusing it until the right stuff was cut at the right quantities. Finn needs to keep his mind on listening completely to the customer (I will do everything in my power to find another deli employee when he (or she) is around.) I've also had some trouble in the Produce section. Many times Instacart asks for certain brands of items, but each time I end up trying to match the item, although the different brand takes with the same barcode, the customer might very well be looking for that exact company because they trust that company - not what Tops considers a valuable substitute. Products under lots of different brand names that don't correspond to what's being ordered and customers like to see their brands come up because they trust their brands - not Tops brands. (It sometimes happens throughout the rest of the store too!) I keep seeing more and more stuff keep getting moved around in this store: A LOT! It seems like every 4 months stuff I knew in one aisle would get moved to another aisle. It seems like this store is a work in progress at all times. I'm neve

Can't believe they kicked Stop & Shop out for this crap. The person that mentioned the fish smell aint wrong. Last I was there it was the first thing that hit me in the face upon waking in. Bleh. Just bring back Stop & Shop please.
