We needed to have our gas fireplace looked at. We made an appointment they called to confirm and showed up at the scheduled time. He was very professional made the necessary repairs at a reasonable cost. I would recommend them.

We purchased a ventless gas fireplace from L&R. Richie could not have been more helpful. Even came over to help set it up once our contractor installed it. Highly recommended.

Richie, the owner is a gentleman as well as being super honest. He helped me with numerous issues on my gas fireplace as well as BBQ over the years. His pricing on everything is spot on as well. I would recommend him without reservation!

I highly recommend this shop and won’t go anywhere else. Rich is a great person to deal with, even 10+ years after a fireplace purchase!

We needed service done to our Weber Genesis BBQ. Called L & R for an estimate. Rich quoted me a very fair rate so I made the appointment. He verified the appointment prior to coming, showed up on time and had our BBQ back in working order very quickly. In the end, using L & R Fireplace and Barbecue was the right choice and saved us from over paying through a competitor.

Stay away from this place at all costs. I was in need of a service technician for a gas fireplace problem i was having and despite his poor overall ratings and reviews, since he was local I figured I would go in and just ask for a simple recommendation. When I walked in, the place was completely empty and there was a man behind the counter, who I believe to be the owner, who did not even have the common courtesy or good business sense to lift his head and 'greet' a potential customer. Instead I had to walk over to directly in front of him to get him to even acknowledge my presence. I explained my situation to him and the first actual words out of his mouth was 'did I buy it there?'. I told him no, that it was a 2 year old unit already in the house when I bought it. He then gave me a pained look as if he was having stomach cramps and simply said "No, I don't know anybody who does repair service'. Not sure if he knew what I was actually asking and in total disbelief that I heard his answer correctly I rephrased my question as I found it incredulous that a person who was in the business of selling and installing Fireplaces did not know one person at all in the entire industry who serviced them. It was like I walked into a local lumber yard and asked the owner if he knew someone who installed sheetrock and he said 'No - not one person even though I sell a 1000 boards a day'. Seeing now that this person had a major attitude problem and zero customer relation skills, I fired one more shot across his bow as I was walking out and asked him that if didn't know one person at all on all of long Island who serviced fireplaces then who services/repairs the units he sells after he sells you one. Obviously as he was unable to answer this very reasonable and logical follow-up question to his original response, it ended there. Before you buy anything from this business I would get it in very detailed and precise writing as to exactly who would come to your house to take care of service issues and exactly under what terms. These gas fireplaces are somewhat sensitive items that have multiple components with a limited service life and it will require service in its lifetime. But more telling is this, if this is how he treats a person in need, to say nothing of a potential customer, than you can only imagine how his attitude would be once he has your money. But you don't have to imagine at all, all you have to do is look at the two reviews from 4/10/14 & 11/30/16 to get the big picture, obviously not much has changed over time with this guy.

Rich, the owner is very knowledgeable about every aspect of fireplace, from fireplace doors, to gas logs, and accessories. I have been a customer of L&R for many years and have found him very responsive and willing to spend time, with a novice. Would recommend him, with no reservations

Just had an eiklor gas insert install in our fireplace. L & R were great to deal with, very knowledgeable and great price. The installer did a wonderful job. Eiklor is definitely a superior product compared to Peterson log sets.

To be honest, I'm suprised by the other negative reviews of L&R. I dealt with Richie on the purchase of two gas fireplaces for a recent renovation. I found him to be extremely helpful, knowledgeable and patient with us. For items which he didn't have in stock, he was able to order and have them in short order. I would have no problem recommending L&R to others.

We went to L & R for new fireplace doors. We worked with Richard who showed us different styles and color options. He didn't give us a "hard sell" or try to steer us toward the more expensive models. He was very knowledgeable and friendly, came over within a couple of days to measure our fireplace, gave us a realistic time frame for delivery and scheduled the installation quickly. The installation was fast and well done. We're so happy with the finished result!!

The owner has an attitude, overcharged my for a simple job, took longer than promised and had an attitude when I came brought the unit back because it didn't work properly. I recommend to stay away, do not give your business to this vendor. It's sad to see folks these day thinking they can get away with that kind of customer service.
