“I couldn't live without John's ravioli and other pasta dishes. John's really is the absolute best - goodness knows I've eaten pasta from many purveyors and even in Italy - but it's John's, always John's, and I hope that The Italian Store in Arlington will continue to carry the brand.”

“This green grocer is known by most patrons as Viva Grande Farms. It's the place where people who use fresh fruits and vegetables can keep their kitchens stocked without going broke. People of all ages, income levels and ethnicity shop at Viva Grande. The owners are Korean and almost all of the staff are from Mexico or Guatemala. Listening to the Korean managers speaking Spanish on the store's public address system is one of the high points of my week. Prices range from reasonable to incredibly cheap. I have yet to see any items at Viva Grande cost more than at the mainstay supermarkets in southern Westchester. Grocers like Stew Leonard's in Yonkers, Fairway in Pelham Manor, Stop & Shop in Mount Vernon and New Rochelle, and Shop Rite in New Rochelle charge considerably more for fruits, vegetables, eggs, milk and other staples. There are four distinct shopping areas of this store: -- The outdoor market is where inventory changes daily based on what's truly ripe and ready to sell at rock-bottom prices. Some of the prices outdoors are identical to inventory inside the main market, but many of the items are only sold outside. These include multiple varieties of New York State apples (99 cents a pound) and local carrots (50 cents a pound). Other recent deals have included strawberries for $1.49 a quart, small navel oranges for 20 cents each, and green seedless grapes; orange, red and yellow bell peppers for 99 cents a pound, and cantaloupe for $1.99. All outdoor merchandise must be purchased at the outdoor cash registers. The store takes cash and checks; no credit cards. -- MoMo flower shop is a basic florist in a separate building in the parking lot along Centre Avenue. They take cash and credit cards. It's not as well stocked as Sutton Florists, at 296 Huguenot Street, but prices are lower and hours are longer. -- Inside Viva Grande is an exceptionally deep inventory of fruits and vegetables, many Mexican foodstuffs, a much smaller amount of Korean items, dairy and breads. We always consider lemons as a telling sign of price. They rarely go higher than 3 for $1 and sometimes sell for as low as a dime. Compared with stores like Gristedes, where lemons routinely sell for 89 cents, we'll stick with Viva Grande. This week we bought giant fresh navel oranges for 50 cents each, Fuji apples for $1.49 a pound. a 10-pound bag of potatoes for $1.99, eggs for $1.49 a dozen, baby carrots for $1.49 a bag, romaine lettuce for 99 cents, a bag of clementines for $3.99, and four heads of garlic for $1. -- Indoor meat/cheese market and deli. We don't eat meat in our household, and we buy most of our cheese on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. But we have purchased chicken and cheese at Viva Grande in the past. The quality was good and the prices were lower than other grocery stores. We're dedicated fans of Viva Grande and highly recommend shopping there. --”

“The produce is always fresh and well stocked. There is a great selection of ingredients for making authentic Mexican meals and more. The meat department is a full-fledged butcher shop where your selection will be cut to order. I just tell them what I'm making and they know exactly what I need and how to cut it! Highly recommend”

“If you want the freshest and most reasonable fruits and veggies, look no further. Their prices are so affordable!!! Here's everything I picked up today: 2 extra large cucumbers, a 2 lb bag of yellow onions & red onions, a pint of cherry tomatoes, fresh peeled garlic (a small container), 3 extra large heads of lettuce, 5 plums & 2 containers of very large strawberries & a package of soup greens which includes all that is needed for chicken soup which I'll be making this week (radishes, parsley, carrots, parsnips etc) guess my total... $20.01. 20 bucks and I'm set for the whole week.. if I bought all of that at stop and shop or shoprite, I would have gotten less for more money. The quality of their products are amazing too and the staff is super friendly. The store itself can get a bit crowded & parking is not the best but I don't mind since the prices are so great. They have another location which is much larger and has a lot more to offer but if you're looking for just produce and some meat, this spot is perfect!”

“Friendly family who owns this place. I come here every morning before my current jobsite starts work and I always get some fresh coffee and a sandwich for lunch time. I wish my job would let me out for lunch and I could get some fresh made food, but its not ready when I arrive at 630am. I have a feeling this place is going to be here for a long time. They have all the small things you can expect from a place like this. This place is perfect in a pinch to get some food or random things you might need.”

“I have been going to this “corner store” for more than 3 years, even some of the workers know me. I come and go normally just to get a monster and a snack, great on the go!”

“A quality grocery store with good prices good products and nice knowledgeable staff. I really respect C-Town for doing their best to keep their prices low and manageable. For example a gallon of whole milk at my old grocery store on the upper west side in New York City was $6.59 at C-Town for the exact same gallon of milk was $4.49. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because it can get very busy in there with very long lines and when that happens things get very hectic.”

“We use it only occasionally for certain items. Staff have been helpful including walking me through using their web coupons app to take advantage of better pricing and an item.”

“I prefer this location because it has a very large parking lot and the store has stocked shelves throughout. Their store in Eastchester never has many of the items that I am shopping for. When I come to the new Rochelle location, it always has everything that I am shopping for. Just recently I came here and found sugar-free Schmuckers grape jelly, Carly's sugar-free pancake syrup, which are two of the items that the other store never has. Wheaties, Clorox, you gotta be kidding. Even though the Eastchester is only 5 minutes away, I'll keep going to the New Rochelle location. Sal E. New Rochelle”

“Nice large supermarket. Employees are decent. Always stocked with whatever I need. Great beer selection. They even installed this eco friendly container-free, assorted nuts section. I haven’t tried it yet but I plan to! They have a bathroom and it’s pretty clean. Security guard on duty.”

“Shopping at Main Wines & Liquors is always a great experience! First off, the prices can't be beat. I've priced some of the items I buy regularly and they are always more expensive at other local stores. The option to have your items delivered is another huge bonus. But the best part of this long-standing family business is the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Bargo and Abraham are incredibly knowledgable of all of their products and they will go above and beyond to meet your needs. They have even ordered more obscure liquors for me and they regularly host tastings. I love stopping by not just to buy some booze but to say hello and chat with them a bit. It's the warm neighborhood experience we all need more of. Highly, highly recommend.”

“The 4 stars is for the hero sandwiches and deli food they make. The sandwiches are excellent and lots of customers buy sandwiches here. I've always had good experiences buying cheese here. Good selection of fresh baked rolls every morning, consistently good. This place is better for the refrigerated and shelf stable items. Need to still check the canned items for expiration dates. Produce and bread should be examined carefully prior to purchase for mold, which is really unfortunate. If the produce and bread aisle. If things were maintained better, I would be able to shop here exclusively, but have to venture out to shoprite to get reliable items.”

“One of my fav shoprites. I've recommend this location to many people. It's large, always fully stocked and the lines move quickly even when the store is packed. I have been to this location probably over 100 times lol.I have been to sooo many shoprites but none are as stocked as this one. There is a super large parking lot & the staff have always been friendly. This location is opened super late which I absolutely love. Just like any shoprite; the prices are truly always right”
