good for that item you have to have but you can find everything on ebay in better condition for the same price. typical of modern thrift stores since the era of re selling.

You need different people answering the phone who aren’t trying to rush people off the phone.

These people give illegal tax breaks, since they'r for profit and not charity.

Good for clothes but not much else. This place hasn't changed much since the late 90s when I could still afford living in Astoria. The book selection is still messy and disorganized and its collection of DVDs is small and unremarkable. Toys are barely a presence as there are apparently few families in Astoria around to donate as it is a single person's paradise.
The store did get a makeover sometime in the 2000s to accommodate the hipster crowd that helped price me out of the neighborhood. To impress the transplants, the store literally rolled out a red carpet and rearranged the racks to emphasize clothing and handbags above all. In the old days it gave equal space to knickknacks and home goods but when the young with their love of vintage clothing swept in, it became more of a clothing thrift store.
I'll stick to other thrift stores that are more well rounded, not just devoted to clothing. I almost never find anything worth buying here. They also jacked up the prices as Astoria gentrified. I prefer the Steinway Thrift store over this one.

A true thrift store is hard to find these days but Ditmars Thrift has the vibe. Prices are amazing, place is clean overall, and some true hidden gems in there. I can't wait to go back, honestly.
It's small but mighty- worth stopping in!

Nice place. Pleasant workers. What a thrift shop should be. Bunch of stuff everywhere with some sort of organized chaos

A true thrift store. It can be harder to shop if you have specific size needs for clothing, as there doesn’t seem to be a organization system really. I’ll always show up here anyway though!

Aside from their pricing issues, it's a decent thrift store. They have a lot of random stuff that is typical of thrift stores. I wish the Salvation Army and Goodwill in the neighborhood hadn't closed, because they were better stores that sold and accepted furniture. This store is too small to deal with furniture. It's a place where you have to dig and search to find what you might be looking for. It's usually kind of packed of stuff. The shoes are a bit of a miss for me. The clothes are just OK. Books are OK. Dishes stuff is pretty OK. It's OK for mild thrifters. You know, it's good to have a secondhand store in the area.

This thrift store is not as how it used to be. I shopped here for many years and while Kevin and along with his other worker was here, management at this place was great. But everything changed ever since a new person came to manage who I believe is the one who "manages" now at Ditmars Blvd. I wouldn't even call this person "manager" because first of all as a manager why would this person have such a negative attitude. I know this new person that was placed at Ditmars was located before at Steinway. I usually don't write these kind of reviews. I'm not sure that if with this kind of "management" the actual owner of this store makes money. As customers we're suppose to be delivered a great customer satisfaction quality but how should that be delivered when the new person who's in charge doesn't have patience. Also, almost every time when I come to the store he's always on his phone. It happens here and it used to on Steinway. The prices are almost like buying it at the original store, prices aren't priced as how it used to be. Anyways, I hope management under this store changes since it wasn't like this before.

Thrifting is a thing. And if you want the ultimate challenge, stop by the Ditmars thrift shop. You will find so many treasures from many different time periods. They have a great DVD section as well as books. You can find all different types of clothes as well. I actually have seen Superdry coats there which are pretty expensive. And leather coats !
