I came in here for strabismus surgery. They were phenomenal. They do everything to make you comfortable and are super thorough in what to expect after surgery. Nothing shocked or startled me. Dr. Safran is wonderful and did amazing work. Not only am I more confident because my strabismus was fixed and fixed correctly, but the migraines associated with it are gone so my quality of life has improved.

My teenage son had surgery here and the service was phenomenal! Everyone there was so caring and understanding. The whole process was very organized. What an Amazing staff!! Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

I was so nervous about my eye surgery but,the staff is great. Even got a massage to help me relax.Surgery was nothing. Going for my other eye soon.

As a 64 yr old whose surgical history consists of a c-section (spinal block)30 yrs ago, I was more than a bit apprehensive at the thought of general anesthesia and surgery on my eye!!The experience I had at the Specialty Surgery center was above and beyond anything I expected. From the front desk to the post op team, I received the utmost in professional and courteous service. Dr. Merriam is absolutely wonderful. He explained everything, including the possibility of complications. He did it in such a manner that I was totally at ease. I can't thank them all enough!! I'm healing quite well and am very glad that I had this surgery here! Thank you all again!!

My extremely anxious daughter had a complicated procedure done at the Special Surgery Center of CNY today, and I must say that it was the BEST overall experience that I have ever witnessed.As a back story, I was raised in CNY, my father was a surgeon in the area for 45 years, and I have maintained a surgical practice in town for the last 30 years. My large family has had numerous surgical procedures at all of the major hospital and surgi-centers in the area. In addition, I have performed procedures in most of them as well. So I feel pretty confident in my assessment.First, the facilities are beautiful, modern, and clean. However, the waiting room is freezing. So dress appropriately. That said, help yourself to free coffee and goodies at their beverage station. It would be nice if they had a place to grab some other food in the building.From the minute that my daughter's surgery was scheduled until the actual procedure, she was treated special. Knowing that she was extremely anxious, the scheduling coordinator made sure to make her the first case of the day. Upon arrival, the nurses (Barb, Meaghan, and Maria) and anesthesiologist (Dr. Howil) treated her the way you would want to be treated. That is, with the same compassion and empathy that you would want a family member treated. They even have an in-house massage therapist for the pre-op area patients. When she was about to head into the OR, the nurses gave my daughter a hug and a kiss and wished her good luck. How many times does that happen in any other facility? I will answer that. Never!It's hard for me to not sound like a paid endorsement. Trust me. I am not. This was the first time that I set foot in the place. The staff had no idea who I was. But it would be an injustice if I didn't write an unbiased review from someone who has been around the block more than a few times in town.If your doctor schedules your next surgery at the Special Surgery Center, please know that it will be an experience unlike an other in Central New York.

This place is very professional! All of the people who work here for registration right down to the doctor are nice profesional and informative. I have had many surgeries done and this place is by far the best!

My young son had to have surgery done on both his eyes and this facility is just wonderful. They were so friendly and knowledgeable and made what would have otherwise been a terrifying experience so much easier. They were very comforting the entire time to me and my son and took incredible care of him, keeping us updated every step of the way. Would recommend and trust them 10/10!

Just needed to write so that all can know how wonderful this center is. The care you will receive is outstanding. Every detail has been thought through. You are greeted by a warm, light hearted receptionist that gets you all signed in. An exceptionally caring team of nurses gets you all prepped and ready, explaining all you need to know. Your anesthesiologist and your doctor make sure to stop in while you are with the nurse to be sure you know exactly what will be going on. Then, really - they have a massage therapist there to help relax you before your surgery, toast and coffee will await you when you're finished, and you are sent home with a beautiful flower! Thank you for making this an incredible experience - and I can see!!!!!!
