This review is strictly for Dia and Tonya …
I could go on and on about these two incredible women, truly. If I could have either or both of these incredible women for every birth, I would. The warmth, comfort, knowledge, confidence, and education they brought with each visit truly made me feel seen and heard. I had the best labor and delivery experience with my second, and it was honestly thanks to both of these incredible women. I am so grateful to have met them, and to be coached through labor and delivery by them. I’m so, so incredibly grateful for the Midwifery at Harrison group.

This is long review , but please take time to read.
My husband and I found midwifery at Harrison through some research, they were one of two midwiferies associated with Phelps Birthing Center and we were very interested in delivering our son there. Our first appointments were very positive, the midwives were friendly, knowledgeable and nurturing..that is until we met Kathy Herron. Mrs. Herron was stand-off ish , uninterested ,almost cold towards us. We figured as our journey continued and we met with her more things would change. They didn’t, in fact she became hostile, almost mean and pushy about medications and interventions that we didn’t feel comfortable with. During one of our appointments she became so upset about us refusing the Rho-GAM shot (my husband and I are both A-) that she suggested that my husband may not be the father of our child.
I prayed she wasn’t on call the night I went into labor. She was. When we arrived at Phelps Hospital, she didn’t even greet us. She was on the computer and didn’t even look up at us. The nurses there set us up in the room and we didn’t meet with Mrs. Herron for maybe another hour. The first thing she told me when she came in the room was to pull up my mask while I was in the middle of a contraction, and informed us that she was having a very busy day as I would be her third birth that day. Her disinterested attitude trickled down to the nurses on shift. My husband and i felt so unsupported that he asked me if I wanted him to take me to another hospital.
At around 10pm there was a change of shift in nurses and thank God a nurse by the name of Dawn started to take care of us. She is an absolute angel and I often think of her because she was so loving and supportive..she was everything we were looking for at Harrison midwifery. She gave my husband tips on how to support me, she massaged me and encouraged throughout the night. Only when confirmed by nurse Dawn did Mrs. Herron come in the room and delivered our son.
After the delivery of our son, my husband and I told Mrs. Herron that we would like to think about whether we would be giving our son the vitamin K shot and Hep B vaccine, and she became furious. She stormed out of the room and had the Doctor in charge at the hospital come to our room and threaten us with calling CPS if we didn’t give our son these shots immediately. This happened only minutes after giving birth to our son!
This was two years ago and I am now pregnant with our second child. I wish I could go back to midwifery at Harrison because all the other midwives there were so kind, so nurturing and so supportive. But I wouldn’t take the chance of having her deliver my second baby.. I don’t think anyone should.

As a current nursing student aspiring to kickstart my career in labor and delivery, I had so much excitement when I opted for this site for my school presentation. However, my enthusiasm was brutally shattered when I encountered a rejection for not only a tour, but a phone interview as well. I had even assured her that it would not take much of their time. Maybe, as soon as the supervisor heard the name of my school, there was a drop in expectations, possibly because it is a community college. Whatever the reason, the way this rejection was dished out left me dismayed. I had presumed that a place of this great reputation would extend a hand of assistance, not just to me as a student, but also as a new mother as I shared. One can only hope they do not exhibit the same Insensitive behavior when dealing with their patients. A most regrettable experience indeed.

I switched to Harrison Midwifery shortly before becoming pregnant and had the most supportive, positive pregnancy under their care. The midwives here are incredible. The appointments are in depth actual appointments where you can have a conversation, the caregivers get to know you as a person and I felt like I got prompt calls back if I had any needs between appointments.During my actual birth, I felt so supported in any requests I had. As the labor progressed and I had more immediate needs, Karen took great care in making sure I was educated and felt in control of my situation. I felt respected and safe at every moment of the journey. The postpartum care has been so great too! I would recommend this practice to anyone (and often do!).

I have nothing but amazing things to say about the whole team at Harrison Midwifery and I am so glad I found them during my pregnancy after switching from an OBGYN. I’ve felt so well cared for before and after my delivery and their model of rotating patients through the whole team made it so I felt confident and comfortable with whoever was at my birth. Special thanks to Kathy and Kristin who delivered our baby and Stephanie who supported me at the end of my pregnancy and during my postpartum recovery - cannot recommend them enough

I would highly Recommend based on my experience through my pregnancy, delivery and post partum. From the very beginning and at every appointment they took the time to answer questions, give guidance and leave time for discussion . I felt at ease and prepared for my delivery . This is my third baby. I've delivered with both an OB and another Midwife practice. This has been my best experience, not to mention my best recovery, definitely because of how my delivery went. It was not easy to find a midwife practice in westChester but I'm glad I landed here and found a practice that aligned with my vision. From wait time, insurance, prenatal and post natal visits, I could not ask for more.

I 10000% recommend Stephanie! I have nothing but amazing things to say about her! I have had issues finding a good gyno but the midwives came highly recommended and I can see why! She was so kind and caring. I did not at all feel rushed. She took her time and was very thorough! I’m glad I finally found someone who was willing to listen and help!

I had a horrible experience delivering at Phelps. It was single handedly the worst most traumatic experience of my entire life. There was only one midwife there and multiple women giving birth. So I barely saw her and barely got any help. The nurses were beyond useless and rude. The only saving grace to the whole experience was the nurses in maternity recovery and the amazing lactation consultants.

This is a great practice for supporting women in having a natural childbirth. I had four babies delivered with these experienced midwives!! The combination of midwife and hospital delivery is excellent. Lab work is all in-house too. Convenient and caring support for women and babies with lots of nursing /breastfeeding support too. Highly recommend.

If you are at all "different" BEWARE. As a woman in the LGBTQ+ community going to a new doctor is always an unknown situation, but add being plus size on top of that and it's pretty nerve wracking. I was newly pregnant after months of fertility treatments where my wife and I were treated wonderfully. Walking into "Love is Love" signs in the lobby my wife and I were more at ease, but unfortunately not everyone on their staff is tolerant. Midwife Herron came in the room, looked at me, and then my wife, and said, so who is this. When I said this is my wife, she gave a look as if she was not pleased by this. I brushed it off, but felt a bit uncomfortable. The appointment proceeded to go downhill due to my size and the midwife lectured me for half an hour about why she could not take me as a patient and why the hospital (Phelps) would likely not take me either due to my BMI (even though it is under the hospital cut off which she mentioned). Okay, fine, I'll find another doctor. The piece that feels the most homophobic perhaps happened later that day when I received an update to my Northwell file and under the "History of Present Illness" the midwife entered "Female Partner". How is this an illness? If you are not a mainstream heterosexual patient think about going elsewhere.

Loved my birth experience with Midwifery at Harrison. Michelle, the midwife who delivered my son was wonderfully supportive as well as knowledgable and thorough. The hospital, Phelps, was also a great place to give birth. Being able to labor in a hot tub, was so soothing. All the staff were great. I highly recommend this practice.

Best birthing experience ever! This review is way overdue but I have to give credit to this midwifery for the tremendous support I received during my first childbirth. I wanted a natural birth from the beginning and our midwife went above and beyond to ensure I had one. From rubbing arnica oil, to placing hot towels on my lower back, to coaching my husband and I through different labor positions, she never gave up. I am so grateful for this wonderful team and if I am blessed with a second pregnancy they will definitely be my go to.

I've had 2 babies through this practice and felt the need to write a review as I recently started a blog and wanted to elaborate for any new mamas! My first experience with my son in 2017 was great. I knew I wanted midwives to help me through this experience because I wanted to feel comfortable and everything was new to me. My previous OB always felt rushed and busy, and as a young mother with concerns I felt pushed aside. The office is warm and welcoming. The front desk associates were always super nice and very helpful when it came to paperwork and insurance information. There were 4 different midwives during that year and each one was fantastic. The midwife that delivered my first born is no longer at the practice but she was great. I had a few appointments with Michelle and immediately took to her kindness and warmth. She was the midwife on call at the hospital after I gave birth and she really checked me to make sure everything was ok. She offered advice on breastfeeding and mental wellness. I more recently gave birth to my daughter in Feb 2020 and I had the same great experience at this practice. I often saw Robin who reminded me of family, Kristin was so warm and took her time, Kathy was very knowledgeable and calming, and Ingrid was amazing! Ingrid was the midwife who delivered my baby girl and I couldn't have been happier. Being pregnant and going into labor is exhausting and stressful. Each midwife did their best to sense my feelings and answer any questions I had. I really cannot express my gratitude enough. Ingrid was so calm and happy! It made the entire experience better (and trust me, labor is NOT a happy place until the end...haha). Every pregnancy will have ups and downs, and my situation was no different. I had an issue where I needed to get ultrasounds more frequently. It's not easy being pregnant and having a "problem" but I think the midwifery practice did their best to stay calm and offer as much advice as they could. I think a word of advice to the practice is: really try to make sure the information you're communicating is correct without trying to stress out a pregnant mama. There were times I felt like everything was normal and fine and sometimes they continued to make me get ultrasounds or stay on a monitor for an hour. I suppose being thorough is better than too reserved. If you need any other advice about this practice, please reach out to me at www.nymamamoves.com - I think it's great when new mamas have people to talk to!

We had an incredible birthing experience with the Full Circle/Phelps Midwifery team. We have such a tremendous respect for the midwives, and also really appreciate all the kindness and experience of the supporting staff. We were able to take advantage of the birthing preparation courses, which completely transformed our understanding of labor and put me and my husband at ease about the experience. This was truly a holistic approach to birth which left me feeling empowered and gave my baby the best possible start in life. THANK YOU LADIES!
