Some of the best Thai food you can can’t get anywhere else.
Best thing is you can try whatever you want with 3 choices!

MY STAR RATING 0-5 Service: 3 Food: 5 Space/Ambiance: 3 Price/Value: 5 Just so we're clear on my rating. I rate as 3 stars being average and we go up and down from there based on the whole experience, not just the food. If I'm giving a 5 star review it's because the experience was exceptionally above average from start to end and everything in between. Before moving to Thailand my BF, who had been to Thailand several times prior, used to take me to Khao Kang and told me it was the closest food he had found to authentic Thai food in NYC. My only experience with authentic Thai in the US previously was in Cali at places my dad took me. He had also spent time in Thailand so knew what 'authentic Thai' should be and Khao Kang definitely held up to those standards but more importantly every time we ate there the food was rotating so always new choices and beyond delicious. Maybe it's not fair to Khao Kang but they are my gold star standard for authentic Thai food in NYC. I lived all over Thailand from the North (Chiang Rai) to the South (Satun) and West to East and every time I have eaten at Khao Kang I am transported back to Thailand. The only thing they are missing to make it complete is LEO beer. FYI the ChiangMai restaurant in Bushwick (on Flushing) carries LEO in case you are looking for it. The restaurant is dine-in or take-out and served cafeteria style as in you select what you want from the hot pans and they plate it and serve to you over the counter where you pay before you sit. Don't let the casual but hip atmosphere fool you as the food itself is the star. You can view the dishes through the glass buffet style setup and select 3 entrees with rice for $16. The servings are significant and the dishes rotate throughout the day so always fresh. My absolute favorite thing I have had here is their Tai Pla Curry | Southern Jungle Curry. The curry is cooked with a clear broth, red curry (red chillies, kra chai aka galangal, kaffir lime, lemongrass, shallots, coriander/cilantro, garlic, shrimp/fish paste, cumin), shredded mackerel fish, minced veggies, holy basil, and cashew nuts. It's definitely a very spicy curry but I love the heat with the insane umami that this dish delivers to every taste bud. A few other dishes I have had when eating here are: - Pad Kra Pao | Holy Basil Stir Fry with Pork: Thai stir fry of ground pork and holy basil which gives it the signature peppery taste and delightful aroma. - Moo Gratiem | Garlic Black Pepper Pork: Fried pork that is marinated in garlic, black pepper and coriander/cilantro roots. - Khao Neeo Mamuang | Thai Sweet Sticky Rice With Mango: Coconut milk infused sticky rice with ripe mango is a staple in Thailand and can be eaten as a meal or a dessert. - HOY/HOI JOR | Crispy Crab Rolls: Marinated crab meat, minced pork, minced shrimp with Thai soy sauce and sesame oil wrapped with tofu skin and fried. This is a traditional Chinese dish but can be found all over Thailand especially at the night markets as it's the perfect snack food late at night. In a nutshell whether you have been to Thailand or not and you are craving proper Thai dishes THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO! I have never experienced a bad meal here and always want to return! This is one of my top 5 favorite restaurants in NYC mostly for how fantastic the food is but also because it is such a good value for the dollar.

Fast food for someone hungry for Thai food. Selections were less than other places with buffets but it hit the spot for me

The food was incredible. Served buffet style, you pick two or three entrees from a selection of about a dozen prepared items. Food was fresh, very tasty and authentic Thai. Good prices. Friendly staff.
Definitely recommend this simple but worthwhile eatery.

Cash only counter service style Thai food. I go for 3 entrees with rice (prefer spicy bamboo curry with two meats). The spice/heat level is authentic thai - very hot. Good food and it gets a bit crowded on the weekend. I usually try to go during the week.

My quick dinner before go to concert in the area around there. Food was okay I’m a little bit disappointed with Kang Som Pla and Pad Woon Sen but Fried Pork is so so tasty don’t give me wrong. I will try again another time with this place when I have chance to get to Queens.

I always get mistakened for Thai then I see the disappointment in their eyes, service and enthusiasm declines, attitude changes compared to other thai and non-thai customers because I can only speak English. They probably assume i am Thai-Chinese but im actually Vietnamese-Lao. I wont get into the politics of it on Google reviews . Other than that the food quick and decent. But not the attitude

The price is a flat $16 for a plate of 3 Thai/Asian viands and rice. Viand choices include fried glazed pork, braised pork belly with soy egg and fried tofu, shrimp green beans, fried fish fillet with mixed vegetables, pork bamboo shoots and more. They all taste pretty good (many with a nice spicy hot kick) but the portions are small for the price though sufficient to get full more or less. Just in case you can’t finish your food you can bring it to the counter and they’ll doggie bag it for you. Desserts like mango sticky rice and coco milk jelly are available for a separate price. Note that if you’re eating-in (more orders are take-outs) you have to clear your own table or they’ll call you for it.
