I just had my 3rd experience at the Babylon Mercantile and it was amazing. My wife and I had taken the Lobster Roll class last year which was a blast and we went back for the Sushi making class last month. That class was so much fun I decided to take my staff to the Spanish Tapas class. Chris the chef and the staff are very attentive and helpful. The kitchen is clean and all the utensils and ingredients you need are supplied. The outdoor area where you eat and enjoy your meal and appetizers is beautiful and very relaxing. I really enjoy Chris' easy going style and his helpful cooking tips. I would 100% recommend the Babylon Mercantile to do something different, hands-on, and fun with friends or family.

First time attended Tues night homemade tortellini.. class instruction was great.. however a bunch of us were disappointed w the one wine bottle that was supposed to b for everyone… most of us were not able to hv any bc 3 other couples had helped themselves to full cups of wine.. leaving nothing fir the rest of us! We all paid for this n all should b entitled to the wine!! We asked the young girls in eating area for more but none was brought in for us at all.. it was disappointing bc we should’ve all been able to hv the white wine.!! Perhaps for 14 people there should’ve been 2 bottles?? The rest of us would’ve liked to hv had wine w our meal as well!!! Ty fir listening!

Last night we went to The Merc for a family cooking lesson event, 17 of us in all. A first class experience from beginning to end. The venue is incredible, from the immaculate kitchen to the fantastic outdoor dining area. Chef Chris was amazing, and is supported by a wonderful team. Chef Chris treated us all with kindness, patience, and grace. He was truly passionate about sharing his experiences and teaching us techniques and skills resulting in a delicious meal and super fun time for the whole family. We could not be happier!

What a great night! Happy and positive energy from the moment you walk in. The chef was excellent. His instructions and insights were spot on. His support staff kept it all running smooth! We made paella. The recipe was terrific!! We had wine. We laughed. We ate. Great night!!

Had an absolute blast with friends last week taking a cooking class with Chef Chris – we truly can’t say enough good things about him and our experience at the Mercantile. He created such a fun, comfortable atmosphere and was so personable and engaging with everyone in the class. This is the 3rd class my wife and I have taken with Chef Chris and we always leave there talking about what a great time we had and how much we learned. He went out of his way to put together a separate side dish of focaccia bread after my wife informed him she’s expecting and couldn’t eat the provided tuna appetizer – something that he definitely did not have to do but we were incredibly appreciative for.On a side note, the Babylon Mercantile itself is absolutely gorgeous and the way they set up their cooking classes with various pauses and time to sit on their patio to drink and chat makes for such an enjoyable experience. The food is always amazing and the social aspect to the class always gets us smiling. I wholeheartedly recommend Chef Chris and the Babylon Mercantile to anyone looking to have a great night out with family, friends, or on a date night.

The atmosphere was beautiful the table setting in the room where we sat to eat our meal was wonderful and I can't say enough about Chris. The braised short ribs were a 10 and I would definitely go back and try another class. Thank you Chris for making me feel so comfortable. Laura C

I was interested in booking a cookie decorating class that involved dining as well for $115 per person. So I used the chat feature to ask what food will be served and they said they didn't set the menu yet. And when I asked more details about what cookies and how many we'd we making the answer was just plainly..... six cookies. I'm not going to pay $115 each for my daughter and I to attend a cookie decorating class and be served food and not know exactly what I'll be getting for my money. I feel as a consumer I should be able to know what the details of the products I will be receiving. I do understand their service involved as well. I was very displeased with this communication and I'm going to The Cooking School in Patchogue instead.

I have taken three classes here so far with way more to come in the new year! Can't recommend this place enough for cooking classes. I have taken a class both by myself and two with a friend! It's a perfect for a friends date, romantic date, mother/daughter, etc. I was also nervous to take my first class by myself but Chef Chris made me super comfortable and it was a fantastic experience. They walk you through every step and the whole experience is very hands on. I've taken many cooking classes around the world and it's amazing to have such a great place right here on LI! I've taken the Filipino Siopao, Samosas, and Arroz Con Pollo classes. That's the benefit of this place as well they have a huge range of classes! You can keep learning new things! A great gift for the holidays. Highly recommend. Oh and you get plenty to eat, and it's always delicious.

We have been to the Mercantile quite a few times to attend classes in the last year and every visit has been amazing. Last night we attended a Chefs Counter Culinary Experience and it did not disappoint. Chef Chris is an amazing chef and his presentation is flawless. He has a top notch crew working with him. Every experience is light hearted and informative. From extravagant dinners to cookie and pastry classes, every night has left us wanting more. We have done date nights, friends nights and ladies nights! We always leave with full bellies and new culinary knowledge. Can't forget to add that this is also a storefront with beautifully curated kitchen and barware. What a gem of a spot.
