Simply the greatest place on Earth!! The friendliest and most knowledgeable owners and staff in the whole biz!! I can't say enough good things about them!! Go here for anything music related. Lessons, sheet music, strings, instruments new and used, instrument repair, instrument rental, general music advice, or just come for an incredible chat and smiling faces!!

My son ,Damon Daunno ,got his start when he was 8 years old there and studied all through high school. I even bought him a good Martin guitar as a going off to prep school gift from there. Boy did those lessons pay off.!! He went on to perform in prep school and go to Tish(NYU) and majored in musical theater. He is now nominated for a Tony...Best Actor in a Musical on Broadway...he plays Curly in Oklahoma!!! He plays his guitar throughout the play and even worked with the musical ensemble with arrangements. Well done Montclair Music Studio!!

I've been coming to Montclair Music studio for over 10 years now and I have nothing but positive things to say about this establishment. The owner, manager, staff and teachers are all musicians who actually care. They are knowledgeable, and their customer service is top notch! It's so wonderful that a business like this exists where you're more than just a name, you're like family. I highly recommend Montclair Music Studio!

Amazing service, friendly atmosphere, quality music education from highly trained professionals. This well-established business in Upper Montclair offers the best private music instruction in the area. Lots of talent has walked through this place over the last 4 decades! Annual springtime music recitals showcase the students achievements. Can't say enough good things about Montclair Music Studio! Added bonus: nicely decorated windows for the holidays and throughout the year.

Montclair Music Studio is a staple of the community. They're staff is very helpful and knowledgable about instruments, music books etc. The teachers I know are great, too. The front room has a bench and chairs to sit and wait while your child is in lessons, and there is a well-stocked music book selection for all instruments and it is kept on very satisfactory shelving.

Don't get me wrong the teachers and front desk are very helpful and friendly. My son likes his music teacher so I keep him here. But.... if you have siblings that need to wait that are baby or toddler age beware. The management are very intolerant of them. Its surprising because well this whole business is based on kids taking music lessons. I try my best to keep younger sibling behaved but its never enough. Also the environment is not safe, they have music book shelves cobbled together out of what looks like plastic magazine holders not attached very well to the wall. Recitals are a bit hit and miss, you have to ask for them. And on a side note they discontinued my son's lessons due to my younger child touching stuff and pulling down some of their unsafe rickety shelving which I apologised about and was not going to bring her in anymore but they still discontinued his lessons. They said I let my child run everywhere which is not true.
