Over the last ten years or so, I've purchased four pairs of Madewell jeans, including a pair of the high-rise skinny in August 2024. My other jeans from here, have been quite sustainable - I even have a pair from pre-2018 and they look new. I threw out my receipt thinking these same style jeans would be great, with no issues, but boy was I wrong. The quality must have gone down, but the price is still crazy (not surprised). Understandably, they don't take back worn merchandise without a receipt. I wore these pair of jeans four times and the inside of fabric of both legs are completely worn, pilling, and the thread is undone. This is a quality issue, and instead of allowing me to exchange the jeans for the exact same size, style, and wash, I'm hitting a brick wall with customer service. I will no longer be shopping for anything at Madewell for myself or family. If you choose to shop with Madewell, even though this fashion brands quality has clearly decreased, I recommend shopping online, as shopping in store might not be very inclusive or welcoming.

i was traveling out of state and made the hour trip to visit this store, but when i came back home i realized that they had left the security tag on my item. i had to make an hour and half drive back (one way) because i was afraid the ink pin might go off. the associate was friendly but the manager barely acknowledged us, spoke as if we were not there, and didn’t offer any credit or support when we explained our situation. the associates here seem fine but the manager was entirely unhelpful

Stopped in here to do a return, there was no one at the front register for a good 10 minutes. While I waited, I took a look around the front of the store and found that you can donate old jeans here and get a discount on a new pair if you do so, see my photo of the instructions. I like that they recycle or upcycle of the jeans. I guess everyone was in the back helping customers at that point. Only after the line of us got four deep, someone came over to the register. I think the floor manager saw us lined up and flagged over someone else working in the changing area to see that we were served. At least the return went smoothly, payment right back to the original payment form.

$$$$. I purchased two of the same jeans online, during a sale. I kept one in the bag, all tags attached, and kept the receipt. I wore the other ones a couple of times, until I noticed pulls in the jean (left thigh) and thinning fabric in-between my thighs. For their price, these are not high-quality jeans. I tried exchanging the pair I wore and returning the pair I didn't touch, both in store and through customer service, and both women refused to return/exchange. This factor + someone I know working here and being told "if you don't do this, you don't have a job" for something with her disability, this is not a brand that I support.

I lost a gift card so I figured to call the store to see what can be done. I gave the associate all the information off the receipt. She said she would get back to me if they were able to do anything about it. I didn’t hear back so I decided to call the store again. I started explaining to the girl what I was calling about and she said “we’ve all been briefed about this” I was in shock that they took time not only to help me out with a gift card I had misplaced but also took their time to let everyone in the store know about it in case I called when the person who was helping me originally wasn’t around....p.s they were able to cancel the old card and reissue a new one. Keep it up short hills crew ❤️Thank you

A year ago I shopped there for once. I was standing in a line for ten minutes and the staff at the store counter said I was in a wrong line, then asked others who came later but in a "correct line" to check out first. Excuse me, when I was waiting in a "wrong"line you should have told me. Ever since then I've never been to that Madewell.

I had an outstanding experience at the Madewell in Short Hills Mall. A lovely girl, Christina, helped me above and beyond. She searched for a cardigan I wanted to purchase for my daughter. We were not sure what size to buy, and she was about the size of my daughter. She tried on the sweater we were trying to find but in another color, so I could judge what size to order. She was so sweet and professional. And the rest of the staff was just as friendly and helpful. Please go in and ask for Christina! She was the best customer service I have had in LONG time.
