We have been going to Ferdinand's for over 30 years.Bill is an amazing jeweler and really knows his stuff. You could not meet a nicer couple than he and his wife who own this business.They just completely remodeled the store and it is so nicely redone.And Bill will do any repair you need - big or small. He has repaired the fastener and even "welded" a gold chain for me when it broke.Watch batteries and repairs too.You will not be disappointed.

My husband and I recently moved to the area. Because we moved, we needed new appraisals on my wedding ring and wedding band (they were more than a year old and were bought in another state so getting the appraisal from the original store would be hassle). We also needed silver flatware appraised for insurance purposes. I decided to stop by Ferdinand's and was beyond pleased. The moment you walk in, the husband and wife owners treat you like old friends. They are friendly, funny and extremely knowledgeable. They appraised everything and fixed my wedding band, which had a lose diamond, for a fraction of what others quoted me for just the flatware appraisal! The appraisal was done quickly and accurately. They even remembered my face when I came to pick up my rings and asked about topics we spoke of on my first visit-so personable and sweet :) The store is extremely clean and welcoming. They have a beautiful assortment of all kinds of jewelry. I only wish I had more money to buy all their beautiful things! If I am ever on the hunt for a one of a kind piece, this will be my first stop. The owners are trustworthy and patient. I was able to see them interact with a couple picking out a wedding band and it was very special. They did not pressure them but instead listened to their wants and worked with them to find something perfect. I had such a nice experience with Ferdinand's, I strongly recommend them to everyone. They did a great job on our appraisals and are very genuine, nice people.

About 30 years ago, my mother inherited a beautiful pair of diamond stud earrnings and then about 10 years ago, one of the diamonds was lost. For a special milestone in her life, I decided to match the existing diamond with a comparable diamond so she could wear her favorite earrings again. While I live in Manhattan and have easy access to the diamond district, I didnt know anything about diamonds and wanted to use someone we could trust. My mother mentioned Bill Ferdinand at Ferdinand Jewelers in New Providence and said she had a really good feeling about him. He and his wife Chris had been extremely nice and very helpful to her over the years despite the fact that she would just stop into the store to browse, have a watch battery changed or do minor jewelry repair. She wasnt an important customer but Bill and Chris always treated her "like she was Elizabeth Taylor about to make her next purchase" as my mother put it. I myself am in sales, and I liked the fact that it was a family-owned business and these sounded like the type of people I wanted to work with. I told my mother to take the diamond in so Bill could assess it and we'd see what he had to say. Bill is a certified gemologist and after assessing my mother's diamond, he brought me up to speed on what it was we owned and the different attributes of a diamond that I would want to consider when choosing a match. He explained that we could find a perfect match or we could save money by choosing a near match that would not necessarily be visible to the naked eye. He said that he would like to source several matches at different price points so that my mother and I could then compare the various diamonds and make the decision that was right for us and fit our budget. Bill and I spoke numerous times on the phone and we exchanged emails about the progress he was making. When the time was right, he told me to go ahead and rent a car and drive to NJ where I picked up my mother in a neighboring town and came into his lovely shop. In the end, we had several excellent options to choose from including one perfect match and he set aside a large window of time to help us choose the right diamond. Once we chose the new stone, Bill then gave us his recommendations for resetting the diamonds which included a special custom backing for earrings to prevent against loss. He also provided us with an official appraisal of the diamond earrings for our insurance company. If you are looking for a highly-knowledgable jeweler that you can trust who offers a service-oriented approach that harkens back to a different era, you need look no further than Ferdinand Jewelers. I could have used any jeweler in Manhattan but I can tell you that no one in Manhattan would have dedicated the amount of time and energy that Bill Ferdinand did, and beyond that, he saved us money in the process. It was a superb experience, and we highly recommend him.
