This shop has always looked interesting to me as we drove past it several times in the last few days, but despite staying on the island for the summer for several years, I don't remember ever going inside. It's been around for a while so I decided it was finally time that I stopped in to see what was in there. We walked in and no one else was in the store. A much older woman at the front counter seemed to be the only employee. She didn't say hello or even look up from what she was doing when we came in. As I got closer to her, I said hello and then she said hi. To me, it's rude for employees to not even say a quick, "Hi." when a customer walks into their business. It doesn't take much effort. They had a varied selection of assorted decor, clocks, framed prints by local artists, outdoor furniture, lamps, LBI related decor, rugs, and plentiful tchotchkes which were fun to look at, albeit overpriced. Some of the things were unique and looked handmade, plus a lot of made in China items too. It was pleasant to browse there. We were never asked if we needed help with anything or if we had any questions. The woman employee was too busy complaining about her long drive due to construction which backed up traffic on route 72 and the bridge. I didn't buy anything, although I was tempted by a few items. The high prices plus the indifference of the lone employee, made it easy for me to walk out empty-handed. I doubt I'll be back.

We are building a boat collection and they had a wonderful selection of many sizes. You can order lighthouses for your lawn if they don't have what you like in stock. Vast inventory of quality coastal decor here! The store associate was very kind and helpful. We will be back!

Neat little shop - the hours are not great (they close at four) but it's worth finding the time when they are open to get your fun island gifts or decor

Trips to Bywater Shop are always a fun adventure. There's always an abundance of interesting things to look at. But if you bring your wife, be prepared to leave with lots of stuff! Denise is a super helpful proprietor. Bywater shop is highly recommended.
