Two years at Baker building and we love it. The building is always clean, uplifting music in the lobby. We have great view from all our windows, and no draft at all even we are facing the ocean.Apartments are spacious and beautiful. For me no concierge is even better, less every day chitchatting)))All our neighbors are very sweet, we got to know many. All problems in the unit were always fixed next day.Prices are lower than other buildings around, we still trying to guess why, but in 2 years we couldn’t find anything wrong. If you get an apartment here, you are lucky I think.

This building is not run properly. There is no front desk person to speak to or anyone in charge there at all. The person who runs the building is never around when you need help. I was told the door never automatically locks but the battery died so it locked me out. Ok things happen but this was at night time and there is absolutely no one to call or speak to in case of an emergency which this is urgent bc I had my 4 yr old niece with me. On top of that they never even called me to resolve this they emailed me and took hours in between to respond. I had to call off work left the building in slippers pay for Ubers and make a million other arrangements bc of this. They also charge you for every little thing $150 to review camera footage that takes 2 seconds to watch.

The landlord has no taste. They don’t want to let residents leave reviews on their 121 Garabrant St property, so here I am. The building is dressed like a hostel. And it plays tasteless pop music all day long in the lobby and on the patio. All renters live on the side facing the patio so you have to listen to to at music all day long from 10am to 10pm. If you want your own music and some fresh air from the window then you’ll have to go duo with whatever they pick for you. No one is ever on the deck because the public Wi-Fi doesn’t work there, so why bothering us?

The Management team is absolutely terrible. Fake energy and they love to fine you for anything and everything they can. There’s always issues with the amenities (such as missing weights from the gym, fob key doors not working to main amenity locations like the courtyard, broken washer/dryers, and the longest renovation times around the building). The price is okay and the location is convenient but if you don’t absolutely need to be there, do not make that decision to move in, you’ll soon regret it.However, the maintenance team is great! Those guys are quick, efficient and very friendly.

Location is good, but the awful property management outweighs the positive. The property manager, John, loves to demean residents. He threatened residents with legal action just for having a group chat within the building to communicate with one another, but after that was dismantled, you never really know who actually lives there. No front door person even though one is always advertised as a false future addition, so robberies/break-ins are always a possibility. Expect frequent emails from property management about packages being stolen within the building.Even if you move out of the building leaving your unit spotless, they WILL charge you unnecessary painting and cleaning fees.Elevators constantly smell like smoke and urine and gym is tiny.Good luck finding street parking since everyone on this dead-end block will purposefully take two spots due to how scarce the amount of actual spots there are.The cameras in front of the building don't span across the building, so there have been cars hit/broken into, and the property management will not help regarding this. Some kid threw up in the main lobby back in 2019 and they charged him $600+ for cleaning and floor resurfacing since it stained the floor, but the property management pocketed the money and have not done anything since.

I have been looking to live in this property and I had the following problems.1) The person named Andrew only answered me very specific things without any attention to his "Future Tenants" where is the good attention to people looking to rent here?2) According to the lease, they do not allow you to have relatives in your apartment for more than 2 weeks, if I am paying for my apartment, why can't I have relatives who come once a year to visit me for 1 or 2 months? this does not make sense in a country of emigrants.Very disappointed, I do not recommend this property to rent because if they are like that before I rent the property, I would not want to imagine how they would be after I rent the property.

I lived in the Baker Building for 3 years. It was the first place where my wife and I moved in and it was a great spot for two twenty year olds to get their own place. Throughout our time there we saw the neighborhood grow with new bars and restaurants which was a lot of fun especially when we had people visit. In terms of the building itself it was very accommodating and a great bang for your buck. The balcony we had was a great addition but the amenities were terrific. The gym really helped saved on a price of getting a membership (which are insanely expensive in JC)Even though the neighborhood is still on the up and up we never felt unsafe. Our apartment was secure and we never dealt with random people on our floor or anything like that.John and the Property team were always very responsive and acted quick, especially considering how many people are in the building. I would definitely recommend living here.
