They should rename this place SCHEDULED FOR SERVICE
Half of the cardio equipment and machines are consistently broken and never fixed.
So much so that the SCHEDULED FOR SERVICE signs are starting to need to be replaced themselves.

Don't bother coming here if you want a peaceful workout session, just full of teens and young adults screeching and acting like this place is a high-school

Place is filthy, a lot of equipment broken and takes months for them to fix, ladies locker room not cleaned often throughout the day, sauna can use a facelift, floor disgusting, pool smells of chlorine. Unfortunately, I do not think the staff cares nor does corporate.

For a gym that charges premium fees, a lot of machines are broken too often and too long. Also, the brand new sauna, not only is tiny, it only has one bench and is not acceptable.
The worst part, it’s dirty. If management doesnt want to spend money for staff to clean, at least, provide more options for members to clean the equipment.

People in the reviews complain that it is dirty, but you have not seen dirty till you seen IM Fitness (formerly 365) It makes this gym look like the taj mahal.

i like the pool and basketball court. frustrated that the fans and tvs don’t work on most of the treadmills. a lot of equipment always down for servicing but then still doesn’t completely work. prices are high for old equipment

This gym is disgusting. The sauna has been broken for months. Half the equipment is broken and never fixed. The showers and locker rooms are filthy. The pool’s chlorine in never balanced correctly. The worst part is no one who works there even cares.

The place isn’t clean,
a bunch of machines doesn’t work,
Over priced.
I was depressed and has one of many consequences, became overweighted and sedentary.
Working out was supposed to be a powerful help on my recovery process but it’s been a nightmare instead.
I went to a few gyms around before making the decision to join LA fitness but I really regret this decision.
Since I joined in February, I had to deal with no hot water for over a month…. A trainer that either was late or didn’t show up. The only good and responsible trainer quit a few weeks ago. They took for ever to replace him and when they finally did, the trainer is only available in the evenings.

I have been to the Cliffwood location as well, and can assure you it is just as horrible as the Holmdel location. However, this review will be on the Holmdel location since it's the one I go to most.
It should be a crime what this gym charges members considering the sauna has been out for months. Every time you ask one of these useless staff members that's just all kids that don't care about their job when will it be fixed, it's one different lie after another.
To touch on more with this mediocre staff, they focus more on working out than they do making the gym a better place for paying members. You have one guy stripping down to his underwear taking body building poses in plain sight of members, you have others dressing practically naked when they work out. It's bad enough we gotta deal with this w/ other members, but LA Fitness should have a dress code for at least its employees when they workout. They also always have their friends behind the desk with them. Place is the furthest thing from a professional environment. The operation manager is beyond useless and should be replaced.
Equipment is absolutely horrendous. You get more of a workout trying to adjust the machines than you do actually using them. That's if you can find one that is actually not broken. Most of the equipment is either broken or on its way to being broken. There has been many occasions of the bathroom being out of soap and paper towels while employees are goofing around at the front desk. One of the male employees is always so far up one of the female's employee's a$%, that if that were his job, he'd be employee of the century.
In 2024, so you also have to consider the crowd, and the crowd that goes to this gym is awful. Nothing but people who go here for the wrong reason. If you want to go when their are legitimate gym-goers and not people just looking for attention and with poor gym etiquette, you have to go when they first open at 5am.
I know this is a lengthy review, but that's because this is years of dealing with the nonsense of this gym. I only go because it's the closest gym to me and even so, still not remotely worth it. If you are looking for a gym to join, TAKE your business elsewhere. If cooperate reads this, PLEASE audit this locations because there is no way this gym is being operated to LA Fitness standards.
