I do most of my own work and never go to a mechanic but some work I needed to do was stuff I was not comfortable with so for the first time in 25 years, I brought my car to a professional. RS Motorsports is THE place to bring your Lotus Esprit. Their expertise and knowledge is second to none and the amount of care that goes into your car is through the roof. Ralph is a wealth of knowledge, a great mechanic and an amazing person. I would trust no one else with my car.

I own a European car shop in Ohio, when my head gasket started leaking on my 1991 Lotus Esprit Turbo SE and I found out this job required engine and transmission removal and none of my guys had ever be that deep into an Esprit I called the 2 biggest independent Lotus part houses in the US and they both gave me Ralph's name immediately! My experience with Ralph was marvelous. Besides repairing the head gasket Ralph went over the entire car and it has NEVER run as good as it does now (I've owned it for 6 years). We talked on a regular basis and I felt fully informed through out the entire job. If you have any major work that needs to be done on an Esprit Ralph is the man.

RS is the real deal for cars under this marque. I have worked with RS over many years and can say 100% professional and nice to work with. Does great work and handles the off-situations very well. A definite expert in this area, and trusted in a 200-mile radius by forum members who know what they are talking about. A++

I started looking for an Esprit many months ago, and in all my research one name kept coming up again and again in the forums as one of the most knowledgeable and experienced Lotus mechanics on the east coast. Ralph at RS in Jersey. So when I found a neglected S4S that needed a full service (and then some) right in NJ I knew where it was going. Ralph is the real deal, this guy knows everything about these cars. He is also a really nice and easy to talk to guy. So I communicated with Ralph via email and phone. No less than a dozen emails back and forth. I was remote, 4.5 hours away and on the very first call Ralph made me very comfortable by taking the time to answer my questions and hear my concerns (before I even bought the car, such a nice guy). And obviously with a neglected lotus THAT was a long call. So to get to the point, Ralph is amazing and most certainly a 5 star mechanic and just a nice guy. He followed my instructions perfectly, I have no complaints what so ever. Also all the other folks on the forums agree with me, so I was so surprised to read the other review below, maybe it was a different guy?? Anyway 5 stars all day, no hesitation. Thanks Ralph. Update Ralph gave me a really nice follow up call, I have any cars, Porsches and Triumph, BSA BMW, I've never got a follow up call like that, he was just \"checking in\" and took a few minutes to answer a couple small questions. 6 stars?

We have used this shop for 25 years with GREAT results. The owner is a factory-trained Lotus mechanic. You cannot get his expertise or experience with Lotus anywhere else on the East Coast. Owners bring their cars to RS from all over the Eastern USA.

The owner appraised my Lotus Esprit S2, after my husband died. He refused to replace a fuel pump. He low-balled the value with a scam Dentist from the North Shore of Long Island. He owned 5 Lotus Esprit's and a GT-40. I sold the car for $26,000.00 on EBay to a Boston Porsche dealer. I returned the $3,000.00 deposit, as they left it with a niece. She was not the owner. They stalled the sale for weeks, threaten to sue me, and told me the car was worth $10,000.00? The Dentist was the high bidder on EBay and refused to pay. Then more threats and lawsuits. I had to relist for another $300.00. The owner of the shop claimed he worked at La Monza in Mahwah. He would have been 4 years old in 1978. The owner of the shop inspected the Lotus, and encouraged the criminal Dentist, who said he drove an ambulance. AnyWho supplied his real name and Dental office in Queens. My husband's Marine buddy, from Vietnam, CPA, pushed-back, legally. consequently sold as-is with 6,000 miles, all OEM. Lotus owner's BEWARE!

I recently had an Esprit serviced there and this while this remote shop had good recommendations, my experience found it to be very pricey for basic Lotus service. Parts and labor may be had for less, as for troubleshooting and communication, I wish there was more.
