While the quality of the ingredients was high, most of the menu choices had a strange combination of ingredients resulting in odd rather than devine flavors. I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant. Sadly, nothing I tasted would motivate a return visit.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary and we had an amazing time. We were treated with the highest respect and service, I want to thank Grace the hostess for providing outstanding service. I want to acknowledge David Burke for personally coming to our table twice and making sure we were happy. The food was incredible. Thank you for a truly memorable anniversary. We will be back.

I felt like I was staying in an English country house hotel! The Bernards Inn is 90 minutes on NJ Transit from Manhattan to the Bernardsville station — right across the street from the hotel. Room was spacious and beautifully decorated and the staff very helpful. Dinner in Bernie’s, the downstairs pub, offered some items from the hotel’s more serious restaurant, David Burke’s Red Horse, plus burgers. Bernardsville is a town with history going back to the 18th century. The library offers an online self-guided walking tour, which, had it not been so hot, I would have done end-to-end. Definitely will return for another get-away weekend.
Nearby activities: Farmers’ Market Saturday mornings at the train station.
Excellent independent bookstore in town, Bookworm.
3-theater small movie house, Bernardsville Cinema 3, on main street.
Walkability: Very walkable town. The library offers an online self-guided walking tour.

Food is amazing and prepared to perfection. Service is awful. The waitress was absolutely clueless, no experience, no personal skills, no recommendations, never checked on our table if anything we could possibly needed. Only asked how was the food when they just put plates on a table and we didn't even have a chance to try. When desert arrived ( tin cake) it was just placed on a table. Was a closed extremely hot tin, usually it gets open and served to you on plates with your choice of toppings. Not this time. Food is 5 star service is zero

I have to say I was a little disappointed in the menu and the service I was hoping for a high end expand do not get it. Menu was was limited unless you wanted a giant steak it was limited Service was okay by really serving warm water at the table When I made the reservation I told them I was our anniversary and they did nothing Overall very disappointing

We stayed here while spending a wonderful weekend with family nearby. It's a beautiful hotel with lovely rooms! I just wish we had stayed an extra day so that we could have tried the restaurant and walked through this beautiful town!

Party of 4; we may have caught a night that was a little “off”. Cocktails and appetizers were fantastic, 2 of the 4 entrees were great; the other two not so good. It was a little disappointing because my son is a Chef and was visiting from Asheville, and the expectation was high. Service started out strong but then slowed down to an uncomfortable pace. We did not bother to wait for dessert. I'd try again if the opportunity presents itself.

We came here for dinner tonight, absolutely immaculate. The downstairs speakeasy is such a cool, quaint vibe for a nice night out. But dinner upstairs, from apps to dinner to dessert, it was outstanding. I will 100% be back. Such a great date night, romantic spot! (Shoutout to our server David, he was terrific!)

Excellent location, great service, it was easy to work with the hotel on my event needs.
Please note that there is no elevator, but the staff was extremely helpful with getting the luggage up the stairs.
NJ Transit train line runs across the street, so make sure to ask for rooms not facing the train. Plenty of parking.
Red Horse restaurant is closed on Mondays, but there are a few nice places to eat nearby. Red Horse restaurant is superb and you should definitely have a meal there! It is very-very-very good!
Rooms: large rooms, nice, older hotel. Rooms could use a 'face-lift" renovation
Food & drinks: Amazing food at the Red Horse - David Burke restaurant inside the hotel

Very pleasant place, very professional and friendly staff, I recommend visiting, in a village that lives in a community, an example to follow

Everything was fantastic; Except the Shishito Tempura was so spicy that we got heartburn and reflux. Prior to ordering, we asked the waiter to verify if the peppers used in the dish were spicy and he confirmed from the kitchen that they were not. However it was not the case.

We came on a Friday evening before the restaurant got busy. We sat in the main dining room. The service was pleasant and prompt, the food was well prepared and nicely presented. We will definitely be back to taste other food on the menu.

Our bloody mary's were watery and didn't have any flavor. We also had one hiccup with our server where we asked for a substitution of sourdough bread for our eggs Benedict. The server went to the kitchen and came back to tell us "We don't have sourdough bread". The menu clearly reads "grilled sourdough, hard boiled egg, capers. pickled red onion, everything bagel spice" for another dish. Please don't lie to your patrons. We would have preferred to have been told that you don't do substitutions (which also would have tarnished the experience). I have NO PROBLEM paying premium prices for premium cuisine, but for me to rave about a place to friends, I have an expectation that the service be premium as well to round out the experience. All of that said, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was very comfortable and chic.

The food and service was excellent. We had the Cinnabons and bacon which were absolutely delicious. We also had the lobster dumplings which were light and airy and seasoned perfectly. My husband had the short rib hash, mostly meat than potatoes which he didn't mind! Also had the traditional pancakes which were amazing and the spiced pancakes which we didn't enjoy that much. Ambiance was quirky and always fun to sight see as most of David Burke's restaurants. We highly recommend this restaurant!

The food was superb however the clientele was less than. Grown woman sitting cross legged - shoes off - with bare feet on the chair in our eyesight - Young man with his parents - baseball cap turned backwards on throughout entire dinner - Many tee shirts - no collars For the price of dinner - 200 plus for two - not including dessert - I will not be back unless a dress code is established. Too déclassé for my taste
