“First off let me say that I appreciate my shopping experiences at both of the locations in the Portsmouth area. Market Baskets have a wide variety of goods and at good prices, that being said I had a rather bad experience with the butchery dept and a butcher at the Lafayette store location.Normally I shop at the Newington store , but as I go to the gym nearby I came to the Lafayette branch to shop.At the other store I can get liver, beef heart, chicken gizzards and kidneys for my dog as a treat in her meals and to maintain her health and a good coat. I did not find any at this location and thought maybe I just couldn’t see the trees for the forest. I rang for a butcher and a man with short grey hair, about 5’8” tall with a square frame came out. Unfortunately I did not get his name off his tag.I asked him if he had heart, and he clipped “Nope” , then I asked about gizzards, “ Nope “, then I guess I made the pho paw of asking as the other store had these if he was just out at the moment. He gave me a smirk and said we never carry those. I joked that my dog was out of luck then, to which he replied testily, “ Aisle 11” I wasn’t sure what he meant and I said excuse me? “ You want dog food, that’s where it is. “ he said in a Im done with you tone of voice. After lifting his hand and pointing me away. I was dismissed. And he turned around and went back to his kitchen.If I wanted kibble I know where it is, I certainly DID NOT NEED THE ATTITUDE! I will not come back to this store again because of this.I doubt these reviews are ever read, but if they are Market Basket needs this man to take a class in servicing a customer politely. I’ll be going to the Newington store only now. Guess it’s still a win win for Market Basket though.”

So happy to have found this store.The manager is exceptionally helpful in answering my questions about how to cook items, or giving an indication of flavors.Be it fresh, frozen or on the shelf for dry goods, a person will find whatever they are seeking. If they do not carry a specific item, the owner will suggest where you might find it.WOW, how impressive is that?_”

The fruit and vegetables are fresh, the meat is cut well, the Deli is fresh and the bakery is wonderful. The items are rotated for freshness, and they are always stocking because of the popularity of the store”

“Shout out to courteous and responsive gas attendant Levi for preventing risk of an explosion from static charge. A man was filling gas tanks in his truck instead of on the ground, but the attendant's view was obscured. Once notified Levi went right over to help the man fill the tanks on the ground were its safe. Thanks Levi!”

“We love BJs produce in particular but my most enthusiastic rave goes to the free online ordering/pick up service. Having someone else shop for my groceries saves me SO much time. I just add to my online BJs shopping cart all week, and then submit the order a day when I know I'm going to Portsmouth. They're quick to fill the order and very flexible on pickup. While there is a two-hour window assigned for pickup, it's often ready earlier and they are fine with customers picking up anytime later that day. And they don't charge a penny for this terrific service. Thank you, BJs!”

“I've been in here twice not for food or any Whole Food Market goods but for my Amazon returns. This last time they had a kiosk set up in their front doors. It was easy to use when you have very few items but I've used one of these before when I had a lot of stuff to return which made it slower & harder to do returns. From what parts of the store I could see it was nicely organized & neat. I'm not a big WF's shopper due to their expensive prices.”

“We shop at BJ's alot, and all of the employees there are really friendly. I want to give a special shoutout to one very special employee who went above and beyond when I was getting a new pair of glasses in the eyewear department, Mike D! Mike was extremely friendly, enthusiastic, and funny the whole time! He really made my experience so worthwhile! I hope he gets a raise and hope I get the chance to see him again!”

“Stopped in to purchase a pack of cigarettes today around quarter to five in the evening. Plenty of room for parking and getting in and out of the gas pump area. The store was spotlessly cleaned. The service was great. The cashier was friendly, polite and respectful. Two thumbs up for the cashier for sure. ðŸ‘ðŸ‘💯”

“I wanted to let the bakery department know what a great job they did with this. As I was not in town I had to order via DoorDash and couldn’t write specific notes. But after talking to both ladies they were able to make this beautiful cake for my fiancé. Thank you so so much! It means the world to me and he loved it! “The store gets 5 stars but one of the rude employees likes to smoke in the non smoking area where people eat. She's very rude and told me to go f myself when I mentioned no smoking. The store itself has good pizza and coffee and restroom is clean above average. A good place for lunch except when someone blowing smoke at you.”
