This hotel was where the ambassadors who signed the peace treaty at the end of the Russo-Japanese War stayed in 1905. I would like to express my respect for the fact that such a building of such great historical value is still available for use and accommodation. The hotel staff were very kind to us visitors. They provided us with a collection of photographs and historical documents, which helped me to gain a deeper understanding.

This is a beautiful hotel located on the ocean front. Welcomed by David who is so wonderful, took our luggage from car to our room and so informative…. Don’t find that very often. He’s worth the stay right there. Then we were welcomed by Shannon… nothing but true smiles and checked us in… made a couple of suggestions for their restaurant which was delicious. Interestingly, the website said no rooms available and yet there were. Btw rooms are lovely. I highly suggest their restaurant; greeted by a fabulous maître de, Louis. He took such good care of us, our table was at the window and we were taken care of by What’s our waitresses name? Chantelle ( hope I got her name right), she was terrific. Food was excellent and I would highly suggest this hotel. Understand they have 25 other hotels around the world ❤️ btw you have a top shelf staff and should appreciate what you’ve created… that’s a trickle down effect of excellent management

We had a wonderful stay at Wentworth by the Sea. Beautiful room and view, great location for driving to Portsmouth, Ogunquit and Portland. Pool was closed but we spent some time lounging on the adirondack chairs on the lawn. Our waitress Sarah gave tips on where to take a scenic drive.

Beautiful resort with exceptional service and amenities. Great location. The cottage we stayed in was very roomy and comfortable with all the basics provided.
Nearby activities: The downtown square is very close as well as a park to view the Portsmouth Harbor & Lighthouse.

My husband and I stayed for two nights in October to celebrate our wedding anniversary and growing family. Overall, we had a marginal stay but concluded that we would not be returning. Upon arrival staff were extremely accommodating when requesting to change our room due to preference of having a tub vs two showers (we stayed in a suite). The only issue was our second room had a faulty fire place. We were reimbursed a small amount per night to account for this at our request. The room was clean but certainly seemed to be dated for the price we paid. Our sleep was disrupted both nights due to a loud, outdated heating + cooling system. The pool and hot tubs were an area of dissatisfaction. The indoor pool was cold, did not feel appropriately heated for the time of year. Tiling around the pool deck and both hot tubs was slippery and unkempt. The outdoor hot tub that is primarily for spa guests but hotel guests have access after hours was not clean. The amount of built up grime on the tiles above the water line was concerning. Additionally, there were broken tiles that needed to be replaced. I booked a massage (60 min) with an added treatment. The woman’s locker room + my massage room were cold. Despite the additional service my massage barely ran over an hour and 20% gratuity was automatically included. We did enjoy room service our first evening and found the food to be of quality from the restaurant in house. The location is convenient with plenty to do in the Portsmouth area. Beautiful views yet, limited unless you are staying directly in the rooms on the water. In conclusion, for what was paid we did not feel the quality of the hotel met or exceeded our expectations. Disappointing, we will not be returning.

Our suite was lovely but had broken hinges and I found a coarse black hair in my bedsheets. Gross! The food was disappointing- steak not cooked as ordered, Brussels sprouts undercooked and a bizarre Parmesan tuille on top of the apple crumb crème brûlée.
Food and drinks: Overpriced and poorly executed .

Great location and good looking hotel. Shower is like a waterfall, really loved staying here. Room was bit dusty though, maybe it was cleaned a while ago.

We stopped to have afternoon tea and dessert and it was fine in the Salt Restaurant until the bartender began loud pounding. I asked the maitre’d if the pounding was necessary and he said the bartender was “prepping” and I responded yes I understood but it was “annoying”. Rather than argue we decided to get the check and leave early. Very unfortunate. Our server Shearlyn was very nice and the Tiramisu was excellent.
