The choir teacher at this school is an absolute bully. He expects you to be nice to him but is not nice to you. He's sexist and racist. He loves saying boys are better than girls, simply because some of the girls, including me, were too shy to sing on the spot. When more than one person was talking out of turn, he specifically called out me and said, "I get it you're white and privileged, and think you're entitled." Which was not the case, my family was so broke at the time we could only afford to go to GoodWill to get clothes. My chemistry teacher in the 9th grade wouldn't let us go to the nurse or bathroom, because it was the last period. That's not okay, because we could have a medical emergency, and a lot of us take the bus after school so we don't have the option of going to the bathroom after the period is over. Also, you should never ban someone from needing to do a human function. We're humans, we pee, do I really need to explain that to you? I have a huge problem with the dance and pe teachers at this school. It is never ok to ban one's right to privacy, and that's exactly what they did. They noticed a lot of girls were changing in the locker room's bathroom stalls and had a talk with us that it needed to stop, and even went as far as to put signs up saying no changing in the bathrooms. If your anything like me, I felt uncomfortable changing in front of everyone else, because I was sexually harassed at my old school which caused me to put myself through some self-harm. I was also afraid that I would be bullied by some of the other girls. So to say "it's fine we're all girls" is very ignorant, because you know how girls can be towards other girls at that age especially in high school. And, it's messed up that I have to say all this to possibly get someone to change it. There would be boys in class talking to each-other saying the most disrespectful/homophobic/sexist/ignorant things about girls right by the teacher's and they would do absolutely nothing.

Teachers are verbally abusive to students. There are sexist racist remarks made by certain teachers quite regularly. Children are not allowed due process violating their civil rights. They will talk to your student without telling them what their rights are and no guardian present. Made up accusations. Unbelievable. Constant lockdowns. Online public school is free. If I qualify for free lunch u will qualify for a free laptop! And there is 2 years of free COLLEGE! Your student can graduate with an associates degree if you do online public school!!

Mr. Petrie is an incredible Principal and Administrator. My daughter is constantly talking about all that Mr. Petrie does for the students. Bonanza HS students are fortunate to have the best Principal in the district leading their school.

Very rude and disrespectful staff members. How do we expect our kids to be respectful when the staff that represents the school can't even lead by example. The two staff members I had thisencounter with Lieby and Patrick. The staff were collecting tickets for the basketball game at the school. I'm also definitely going to management about them because they were unprofessional and disrespectful. I hope the school have staff that look at these reviews.

Everything is great here except the people. Kris Bryant, MLB all-star who plays for the Cubs went here. But anyway, this school should try to be better with students.

I started attending Bonanza High School halfway through my sophomore year, after struggling with online school. I was impressed the very minute my mom and I sat down to talk with the school psychologist, nurse, and special ed facilitator to see what sort of IEP could be set up. Every one was very professional and kind, and very willing to make accommodations for my special and unique case. All of my teachers were wonderful! (Shout out to Finley, Bauder, Cuellar, Sherer, Edmond, Smerlinski, Carque, Liberski, and Jackley!!!) The students were nice to me, so there was no problem there. I'm also very grateful to Mr. Grissic for helping me graduate early. So glad to have been a 2016 grad. I definatly take pride in saying: "ONCE A BEGAL, ALWAYS A BENGAL. PAWS UP!!!"
