Matt saved the day/week for me. My bike was damaged in transit from Denver to St Louis and I was planning a 5 day ride on the Katy Trail. I pushed my bike to Matt’s shop from Union Station, MO. He dropped whatever he was doing when I arrived and had it up and running again in about 90 minutes at an incredibly reasonable price given the damage. He’s a super friendly guy. Such a pleasure to meet him. Thanks Matt!! We had a great time on the trail with no further mechanical problems.

I had a wonderful experience here. I needed my bike fixed after a small wreck, and Matt was fast, friendly, and professional. I will be taking my bikes back here for maintenance and repairs.

This has been the shop I go to for the past decade. Matt is a very knowledgeable, honest bike mechanic. I trust him 100%!

I’m going to completely revamp my review… It’s true; my 2015 Raleigh Clubman was in his shop almost 4 months from early January 2022 till April 30, 2022. That was longer than originally anticipated. What the hell…I couldn’t ride anyway. My left hip was shot – bone-on-bone. I thought I’d never ride again. Just getting the bike fixed so I could sell it. Glad I changed my mind & held onto it. May 19, 2023 the V.A. Healthcare system finally got its act together & operated on me – a new titanium left hip. After 8 weeks of excruciating pain and rehab, I gingerly got back on a bicycle again. The first ride in two years was a whopping twice around the block jaunt. Slowly but surely, I’m making my way back. Now for what really impresses me… Weighing in at just over 200 lbs., over the years I’ve had problems with rear wheels staying “true”. Besides welding the frame, Matt also rebuilt the rear wheel. After roughly 100 miles, it still turns straight & true. I’ve had wheels in the past look like a Pringle’s Potato Chip after a few miles. So…kudos not only on welding the frame, but also for the rebuilt rear wheel.

What a gem in this city. Amazing customer service. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful to the point I'm sad I don't live here. More people like him need to be around. He can even custom build your bike dreams. If you haven't been here you need to be.

Quick fix when I had two flats in a row, got me rolling again. Awesome shop with loads of cool, weird custom bikes. Will definitely go back for servicing at some points. Strong recommend for a bike shop in the city (I usually use South Side Cyclery, but it is nowhere near when I am riding downtown or the river trails)

The owner, Matt, knows his sh_t.I believe he wants 2c people ride so he won't steer ya wrong. He helped me line my bike out & yeah, it was outta line. Might seem a little hard 2find the 1st trip (off the street, up the alley, in the middle of the block). Cool spot really. It's worth your time 2stop in & check it out. Read the news article on the wall ?

Had the pleasure of training under Matt at another shop in town, Matt was always incredibly detailed orientated when it came to customers bicycles, taking the the time to triple check each and every bicycle that passed through the shop and was worked on by anyone in the shop. Even if it required staying late. Now days, Laberta and Sons is my go to recommendation for customers in need of frame repairs and custom frames.

It really pains me to do this, but… I had heard so many great things about Matt LaBerta. When a crack in the frame was discovered on my 2015 Raleigh Clubman, I had no qualms about leaving it with him. He originally stated in early January of 2022 it would take 2 to 3 months – TOPS. By the end of March, I was beginning to wonder and shot off an email. He stated with recent “equipment failures” at his shop, he was running way behind. A little communication here would’ve gone a long way. Would it kill ya to send out emails to customers letting them know? The bike was picked up on April 30, 2022.Now for the disgusting part; realizing the saddle height was a tad too high, I went to loosen the retaining bolt. It snapped in half. OK…OK…the bike is almost 7 years old. It could’ve happened at any time. But, the seat-post itself was very hard to move up or down. Upon finally getting the seat-post extracted, I was SHOCKED to see & feel there was NO lube or grease either on the seat-post or in the tube. The crack he repaired was at the junction of the seat-post tube & the top tube. Anyone with cycling knowledge whatsoever knows better. Good way for that seat-post to rust over time & get seized inside the tube – permanently!

I've always taken my bikes here and Matt's always done an amazing job on them. He always goes out of his way to make sure everything is working perfectly. He's fairly priced and doesn't try to sell you on anything you don't need.
