UPDATE to my Update: The regional manager just called me and informed me that one breath I was paying $60-$70 less than the going rate, and then in another sentence I was paying over $100 less than the going rate. Which tells me Get Ready for another rate increase. When I told him that they were priced much higher than other storage facilities in the area, he told me I was incorrect. I also explained to him that his manager of the Pleasant Valley location offered to waive the increase for one month. According to the regional manager who denied that claims the offer was never made based on the email that was sent to me. Here is the email and I’ll let you be the judge
“ Phil,
We can look at waiving the rent increase as a one-time courtesy, but this would be the only time we can adjust a rent increase. Please let me know if this would be satisfactory. ”
According to the regional manager, James, that was not a commitment just a question.
Again, this industry is unfair and I feel takes advantage of the weak. Do your homework shop the rates and make sure you read the contract
UPDATE- StorageMart asked me to reach out to them regarding my review. I did as requested and I have heard nothing. Pure silence!
To anyone who has items in storage at the StorageMart at 280 N Church Rd in Liberty. Did you know they can arbitrarily raise the monthly storage rate? I didn’t either. I just received my monthly statement and it went up $38 a month. When I inquired as to why, I was told “per the contract Item 14. CHANGE OF TERMS: All terms of this Rental Agreement, including but without limitation monthly rental rate and other charges and conditions of occupancy are subject to change upon written notice given to CUSTOMER at least fifteen (15) days prior to the end of any month’s rental term. If the CUSTOMER continues to occupy the Unit after the date that the changes go into effect, this Rental Agreement shall be amended, and the change shall become effective.” I asked why the rate increased and was told “based on Market Conditions, we periodically increase rates”. What does that mean?
This means including changing the rate that I agreed to. The rate that was the reason for me choosing this facility over others. When I complained, the Facility Manager offered to waive the increase for 1 month. Then, he called me and said his “regional manager” said NO! I autopay my fees every month and you would think they want a customer like this.
I called around to several other Storage Facilities in the area, and not one of them had ever heard of raising the rental on existing customers. Looks like I know what I will be doing for the next couple of weeks…moving!
I am also going to contact the Attorney General’s Office and inquire about their business practices. I am sure they are legal, but just be aware before you sign a contract with StorageMart! They are definitely not dealing fairly with customers.

The Good - Clean, well maintained storage - wide hallways in climate controlled areas, and easy to pay, rent from
The Bad - One star reduction for price/competitive pricing. One star reduction for prices for new customers only. Renting an additional unit at cheaper prices is not allowed so we moved.
