My wife made a donation after we had a wonderful visit to the museum. After months all we had to show for it was our credit card statement. We had never received our 2 physical gift cards, membership cards for unlimited admission, our $50.00, gift card, package from Marcelene and WDHM, our membership certificate, 2 Logo t shirts, 1 1968 stamp, tour guide, 10 admission tickets for friends, dreaming tree bark, replica good luck buckeye. She called the museum several times. The volunteers said they would try and have management give us a call back. Still heard nothing.UpdateI contacted Marceline Chamber of Commerce, I spoke with Chris. She told me She would contact someone at the museum and we would get a call back.Sure enough a couple of days later Sumner Nesbitt did indeed email and call call my wife. We are satisfied that they do indeed care and it was an oversight. The local chamber of Marceline cares too. Cecil.

My significant other and I landed in the quaint town of Marceline to experience Walt Disney’s Hometown Museum. I came seeking some history and that’s definitely what I got!The entire area surrounding the building was welcoming. I was impressed right away! Admission for Adults was only $10.00.During the visit, I learned a lot about Walt Disney and his family. I even learned the reason for Walt moving to Marceline from Chicago and events that followed that. The information and history kept flowing throughout my visit. My favorite part was the stairs leading up to the second floor with words from Walt. I felt that was a unique feature that they had and I loved how it ended with his name. Before we left, we looked at what they had for sale near the entrance. I ended up getting a Pen for $3.50, so that was a reasonable price. They also had the Rush Johnson Memorial Garden outside of the building that I went around before I left.Overall, it was an amazing experience, especially for the price it was! I’m glad I went out of my way to go!Date of visit: December 3, 2023

The museum was a great stop if you are a Disney history nerd. I love all things Disney history because of what Walt accomplished and how it has defined our existence. The museum was full of a lot of very cool classic Disney pieces but what was more interesting were the more obscure, personal family pieces from Walt's sister, Ruth. I spent a lot longer in there than I thought I would and came home with a deep appreciation for Walt's story.

We were so excited to visit this museum. It was amazing. So full of great memorabilia and information I didn't know. I was a cast member at Disneyland. This is definitely a must see for all Disney fans and even those who aren't. The mini autopia is just down the street, and there is a train engine at the park. The Main Street of town has mouse ears on the street signs. They have done a great job preserving all this information and Disney memorabilia. I love the gift shop. I went crazy buying items and t shirts.

Museum is very dated, not very interactive. Worth it if you are in the area needing an activity to pass time.

Was a nice place to visit. Relatively small, but good size for the size of town, However, my favorite place was his farm. The original barn was destroyed so a replica of the barn from his childhood is there (built in 2001) and you can go in and sign your name wherever you want on the inside. You can also see/feel where he came up with many of the designs and themes for his movies.

I'm a big fan of Walt Disney. We were visiting KC and I noticed we could detour to Marceline on the way home. It ended up being a much farther detour than I thought. The museum itself is a very low key affair. Much like the many hometown museums scattered around. I'd say actually seeing it wasn't as important as just making the pilgrimage. They have some Disney items that random people have donated and quite a few things from Walt's sister, Ruth. Upstairs is a miniature Disneyland that some guy made. Disney itself has obviously had little to do with the museum. We also visited the downtown area which is said to be Walt's inspiration for the Main Street area of the Disney parks. Walt was gifted with a very good imagination. So I crossed something off my bucket list, but unless you are a really huge fan or if you are in the area, it may not be worth the trip.

Great museum for Disney fans. Been wanting to visit for a long time but it's not exactly near any where so when I knew we'd be within 3 hours of Marceline for another event I knew I had to make the trip. Not sure if/when I'll ever be back in the area but if I'm close enough I will definitely be making another visit.

This was an accidental find, and wow! Talk about a hidden gem! This little museum packs a huge Disney punch. The staff is super friendly and the passion they hold for this bit of history really shines through.Museum holds a lot of early W.D. years and really shows his love for the art & story telling from the beginning. We also learned quite a bit about several other Disney family members and how they helped build what we know today.Definitely a must see for the dedicated Disney fan, and worth a visit even if you don't consider yourself to be.Museum is within walking distance of a lovely town park and the real Main Street, USA.Marceline is a charming little town and it's easy to see why Walt Disney was so inspired by it. Highly recommended.Price for entry: $10.00

For A die hard Disney fan you MUST visit Marcaline MO at least once in your life. This is the hometown of Walter Elias Disney and his brother Roy.His hometown museum formerly the train deopt in Walt's day, is like stepping back in time and seeing the early days of Disneyland along side his family history.

My initial experience with this museum didn't go so well. Things can change. That was largely a virtual experience & while it went to an extent that I wish it hadn't needed to, it was eventually resolved. More recently, I actually had the opportunity to visit the museum & took advantage of it multiple times over a recent trip to Marceline. Like the city of Marceline itself, the Walt Disney Family Museum is something special. There are a lot of places that cling to & capitalize on something that brings them notoriety & tourism. I spent much of my childhood living in Hamburg, NY, which claims to be the originator of the hamburger. They have an annual "Bun Run," "Burger Fest," & many other events & offerings centered around that claim.Marceline's approach is similar, though with the arguably more lofty & verifiable claim to fame of having been the home of the Disney family for 5 years. This 5 year period was during young Walt Disney's formative years, & made a lasting impression on him when, years later, he founded the Disney Studios with his older brother Roy, & created several movies that looked back fondly on his time here, from Lady and the Tramp & So Dear to My Heart to Pollyanna. Later on, he'd draw inspiration from Marceline's own Main Street for the Main Street, USA section of Disneyland.Walt's ties, along with those of his family, to Marceline, are well documented in the two floors of this museum, with its variety of his personal mementos, correspondence, & other things on display. Marceline's impact on Disney & his impact on Marceline, are both very well represented. The museum is also very reasonably priced, has a great gift shop & a wonderful staff. If you're visiting, the "Disney experience" definitely extends beyond the museum, beyond E.P. Ripley Park, & Main Street. Even beyond the Disney family farm, Walt's barn, & the dreaming tree. The people of Marceline, some of whom knew Walt or interacted with him, are part of the city's appeal & a clear indication of why he looked back so fondly on his time here.

A must visit for any Disney fan. That is why you are reading this, right?! A lovely nod to Walt Disney's close connection to this beautiful town, in the very building that welcomed his arrival all those years ago, as he got off the train from Chicago. Plenty of information, pictures and memorabilia from the years gone by, topped off with very friendly and welcoming staff. Parking is available right outside, plenty of trains passing for children and adults alike. Walking distance to "Main Street", opposite the post office with a unique stamp and within minutes from Walt's Farm.
