I’ve been coming here for years. Sometimes for events and other times to sit and meditate in the main hall. It’s so peaceful and inclusive. Lovely temple, I always stop by anytime I’m in KC!

Unity temple has-by far-the softest toilet paper on the plaza, if not the entire Kansas City metro. I’m using it as I write this, and it’s just unbelievable how soft and sumptuous it feels against my skin. I dare say your life is incomplete until you have experienced just how soft and supportive their restroom tissue is, which also, mind you, happens to be a first rate restroom. Having experienced restrooms and lavatories all across this blessed country, I’m proud to call Unity temple my spiritual home, where even the toilet tissue has curative capacities.

The Unity Temple's main purpose is a church who serves its community. It's also a space that can be rented out for a variety of functions: Guest speakers, music performance, photography exhibits, book signings, conferences and more. Please feel free to browse the venue's website and social media pages for more info. There's a little bit of everything. The staff is polite and happy to help. Parking is also available in the parking garage behind the venue. Minor drawbacks include tight-fitting chairs, some stiff sightlines if you're in the balcony, narrow stairs and the bathrooms being in the basement.

We had a Simple Ceremony with Ben — it was exactly what we expected “simple”. There are no worries whatsoever. Book your event using the online calendar, and you’ll receive a call with contact information. I prefer to communicate via text, and they were willing to accommodate. I received reminders and regular communication at times that made sense before our ceremony. Important things like “having a marriage license in the State of MO”. KS is so close by, some people don’t think about that and get their license in the wrong state. Our officiate, Ben, was organized, responsive, and helpful. The Temple is beautiful with plenty of places for family photos. We were able to take photos with a photographer before and after the ceremony. There is also very convenient parking. The free, covered parking garage is steps away from the temple — same side of the street — right next door. For the actual ceremony— you get to choose what type — religious or not, blessings before or after, rings or not. There is no need for a rehearsal because it’s truly “simple”: A few days beforehand, Ben confirmed we would have witnesses. In our case we we had the maximum 15-guests including ourselves. It’s meant for very small and intimate weddings. Our parents on both bride and groom sides are mid 70’s and didn’t want big risks associated with larger groups and covid. We had our small, safe family ceremony for the actual wedding with a big reception later that evening. I couldn’t be happier with Unity Temple and highly recommend.

I attended Live At The Temple: Kansas City Concert Series on September 10, 2021. The Jazz Concert performances were amazing. I gave one star because I want to bring attention to the rude and unprofessional treatment by a man who is high up in management at Unity Temple. I know he was higher management because he was called to the stage to welcome the audience.I had purchased a reserved ticket and an usher seated me. However, this man from management said I needed to move over. He was trying to give my center aisle seat to his friend. The African American lady behind me who was in the first row of general admissions was told the same thing. She did not move. As an African American female, I felt like Rosa Parks, I did not move!! I paid $60 for a reserved seat!! This man saw the usher seat me!!

I have so missed this place. I love it because it combines with any faith tradition without conflict. It’s Western Buddhism, a combination of Eastern philosophy with Western psychology. All are welcome, and they mean it. It’s not an
