Hands down, this is an amazing facility and organization. As soon as the Y took over we began to see immediate changes. I feel so blessed to have access to a Y that has 4 pools, 2 indoor courts, a track, fitness equipment, lots of class options, and trainers. and the staff are one of a kind.
From the moment you walk in, the staff greet you with a genuine smile. They are attentive, caring and simply invested. So I take the following classes and I must say it's changed my fitness game,BIG TIME.
I take MX4 and Bodybalance with Pam. Body Pump with Sophie & Emily, Cycling with Patrick, Luther, and Scott, Body Combat with Maria, Julia and Tricia. I love that I have a class that I can attend each day of the week.
Each of these individuals along with Millie, Merrilee has had a hand in my fitness success. In them, I have observed dedication, integrity, willingness, and the heart to help others achieve their goals.
They have a suggestion box, and they do listen to the members. They have made many adjustments based on what the members want. I appreciate that they hear us!
I also appreciate their communication on the app, especially when there are updates. They are pretty prompt to let us know if the building will be closed due to outages or inclement weather.
My favorite campaingn is their annual Pedal Palooza. For a small donation, I could participate in a 90 min cycling class.
While that may seem impossible, the truth is, time flies when you're having fun. The money goes towards helping those who may not be able to afford the cost of a membership or to attend summer camp. It is worth it!
This year's Palooza was amazing. We had so much fun. The cycling room has newer bikes, and the lighting makes you think you're on the disco floor.
I also love the Riverchase community. You can show up and not feel judged. No matter the size, shape, or abilities, there is a place for everyone.
I can't say enough about this place and the people that I have met. 2 years ago, I weighed 304 pounds, and before the Y, I tried joining a different gym, but the staff wasn't invested, and the environment felt intimidating.
With the Y, the vibe was instantly different. I felt a sense of belonging even though I started out reserved and didn't really talk to anyone. I was 304 pounds and ashamed, but nobody seemed to gaze at me with judgment.
2 years later, I have lost 134 pounds, have met some amazing people, and my fitness game is awesome.
I smile in my classes, not bc I am in pain but because I am so thankful for the opportunity to be there.
I am proud and happy that I can physically do things that I haven't done in years.
2 years ago, I could barely walk without my back freezing up on me. I was gasping for air, used a cpap machine, took blood pressure medication, etc. But now, my quality of life has done a 180. No more medication, cpap machine or physical restrictions. I am so proud of myself.
I have so much fun in my classes and I am that person that is vocal. Lol. I can't help it, I am excited and forever thankful for the commitment the fitness instructors have. Without them, there wouldn't be any classe. THANK YOU!
I also appreciate that the Y isall-inclusive. They celebrate history.
This Y is clean and has a big locker room with showers, etc. Plenty of parking, sitting room and so much more.

I bought a membership because I thought my daughter and I would be able to swim up here, but that wasn't the case. They let us get in the pool and start swimming, only to kick us out after we got all wet. Apparently its adults only for the first half of the day. Poorly run, terrible hours/scheduling. If you're signing up to have somewhere for yours kids to swim this summer, don't. This is a place exclusively for the elderly apparently.

Difficult to get into classes. Would go elsewhere because impossible to get in classes using app, and that's the only way to get in classes.

Been going here since I was a kid, before it became a YMCA. It’s exactly as I remember it. Great facilities and indoor/outdoor pools plus slides!
