Just a all around bad experience...

I would recommend this place over any other repair shop in town. I thought I needed a whole new muffler and even went into the shop saying just that. Then they called me and said I only had a broken pipe that they could fix for half the price of a new muffler. These guys are wizards, and they are honest too!

We’ve used A-Z several times for various repairs. They’ve always been fair on pricing and timing.
This time, while the pricing was fair, the timing was way more than we thought it would be, a total of a month. We dropped off my car for diagnostic work. After $700 dollars on various things (which we were expecting) we were told it needed new cam phasers and a timing chain, costing around $2,100. After we initially picked up the car, we agreed to move forward with the repair and turned around about 15 minutes down the road, not realizing that it would take another 2 weeks for us to get our car back. When they were finally able to work on it, they called us, and told us that on top of the phasers and timing chain, it needs a new head cylinder. The quoted price for all of it was close to $5,000. We asked them just to put the car back together. We can’t afford that type of repair. We paid another $300ish for the labor hours and picked up the car. It’s much worse than when we dropped it off. It was drivable before…
They’re great for shocks and suspensions. But if you don’t have lots of time and money, I definitely wouldn’t recommend for a diagnostic.

$42.50 for “labor” to diagnose a faulty alternator, $560 for alternator replacement. any parts store will diagnose it for free and the part itself is less than $200. every auto shop in columbia is a scam

This place has gone downhill, they will do guess work to try to figure out the problem at your expense. We highly recommend that you go elsewhere. We were loyal customers for 20+ years, they have lost our business.

Been going to many years, great prices and have liked everyone. Sadly the last year or so thi is became a little clearer. Do to some issues I had with parts they told me that their mechanics make most thier money via parts sales not the hourly labor that is charged. While I expect most places to try and make money on parts when they can, making it the primary way your mechanics make thier money means that those mechanics will ALWAYS try and sell you parts even if you don't need them. This makes me believe that I may have well been sold many things I didn't need over the years, puts into question everything there. Mechanics should be paid via the hourly rate and money made from parts is a store profit, making it profit for the mechanics pushes them to be at best less than honest for repairs. Sad really.

I thought I was getting ahead by chosing a cheap shop and I learned my lesson! Never again. You get what you pay for. It ended up costing me way more due to bad work. They also weren"t very professional.

The price was fair (cheaper than 3 nearby) for the work and timelines were ahead of schedule.
The only reason I gave them 3 stars instead of 5 stars was because I ended up having to tow the car back to their location because they forgot to tighten something. I also had to rent a car which cost about $300 because I needed to be out of town for work because my vehicle couldn't be seen in time.
At least they were honest about it and didn't try to charge more like some other mechanic shops would.

Have taken my car there several times (unfortunately for me) and every time have had a great experience! They're friendly, honest, and always tell me everything I need to know. Have helped me through a few engine lights and wiring issues. They also give me heads-up on issues they noticed, don't pressure to have it fixed then and there, and so far haven't made up any of those issues! I trust these mechanics and am glad to hear they were busy enough to open up a second location.
Made the mistake of taking my car somewhere else twice (not because I wanted to) and had only pure frustration with anywhere else, not to mention it always being way too overpriced.

They did a good job on the fix and gave us options on how to fix it, but they changed ALL of the driver’s seat preferences (not just the distance from the steering wheel, but height of seat and even lumbar support) and smoked in my car. Who smokes in someone else’s car? It REEKS of cigarette smoke now.
