Insane. Would give 0 stars if possible. We have been wanting a kitten for a few weeks, have all the stuff, we have just been waiting for a free moment. We looked online yesterday to see the kittens we would prefer. We went today after a baby shower, we threw it so we couldn’t leave very early. We got there as early as we could, at 3:35. We asked how long the process took, they said 15 minutes. Perfect. We already put in an application the day before so it would take even less. We ask to get a room with a kitten, they told us not yet, minutes later they give us a room. They give us a room but don’t figure to tell us we couldn’t adopt it. For some reason, they wanted us to “sleep on it” even though we have been for weeks. The front staff who looked to be younger, with dark brown hair, was SO incredibly rude. My baby cousin was sobbing because we found the perfect cat, HAD enough time to adopt, but they told us no because they thought we weren’t 100% sure. They did not even bother to say sorry, console my cousin at all, or even look at us. We were ready. Not sure why the staff think they can decide whether or not we are ready, because we were, and have been for days. We will not be giving them our business again, and will be going to a different humane society to get a kitten tomorrow.
In short:
We walked in, right when we arrived, we asked them if we were even able to adopt today, because we knew we were there later. They told us that if we were able to find a cat fast enough, we could. We found one after less than 10 minutes, they LET US bring the kitten into the room, LET US believe that we were able to adopt a kitten today. They didn’t bother to tell us before we even went into the room. They told us no, because apparently we weren’t ready, and we needed to sleep on it. We have been sleeping on it for weeks, and we’re ready. Very unprofessional, very rude.

It's not a good review! I listened to there message on the phone and they said they would never turn away a animal in need. We'll that turned out to be a LIE!! I tried to rescue a stray mama cat with here babies and was turned down by everyone I called and I can't believe the results I got from Northwoods, Human society of Woodbury and grantsburg human society and a few others unbelievable. I planned on donating but I will keep my donation to keep taking care of these poor kittys.

Went to surrender 3 cats and a dog. The lady there was nice. But when the she looked at my dog she said" he looks Nervous, and if we put him in a Kennel he might bite." And my dog did not bite or even showed teeth nothing but she didn't like the dog. But took my 3 cats like there were candy. I trust my dog to watch my kids more then this lady. Don't take dogs there. They only want the really good dogs that can work for them.

They put the animals at the center of their work. Impressive organization with incredibly dedicated people who work there. Animals who end up there are treated like staff and volunteers' own fur babies.

I got two kittens from here the other day. The staff were very nice and friendly, the establishment itself was clean and items to buy were very fairly priced! It was a bit unorganized as far as who came first to adopt which pet. It was a bit of a mix up for me to get the two kittens I came for because there was a discrepancy around who was here first. That process could improve. Nonetheless, after some confusion, I got my two kittens! I named them Siddalee Walker and Teensy (guess that movie!) The adoption process was non invasive and the prices were fair. I recommend them!

Northwoods HS was amazing throughout the process of adopting our first kitten! The application process was quick and easy thanks to the help of the amazing staff! They sent us with lots of his stuff to help him become more acclimated at home and he’s doing great now :)
