Update: from 1 Star to 5. oh what a difference a year makes! I placed an online order for pick up that was quick! I walked in the door and was greeted and received great offer for help. I got a question answered about an item they did not carry. I grabbed 2 bottles of BBQ sauce ( they have great selection !) I was directed to the service desk to get the on online item at back of store. Before I could get there my online item was in the hands of manager Dave with a smile. Jokes about the great service they provide ...with that I confessed about my last review of their store but promised to update, thanks Jeff and Dave for the above and beyond I hope for at an Ace!
Previous review: I needed help with some grilling sheets. No one working knew what I was talking about. Pulled up on my phone for staff but still no help. I asked of they had a "as seen on tv section" again they did not know what I was asking. I bought a gallon of stain, brush etc. The staff told me it could clean up with water. I got home and had to make another trip back. I didn't have my glasses the first time and no one could read the can and tell me what I needed to clean up the brushes. First trip I spent 183 and had to come back to clean up the brushes. I didn't get help the second time either. I finally pulled one of the cans off the shelf. Took it to where there was some good light and read a long amount of information before the final statement was clean with mineral spirits. Still staff was not very helpful even when I told them what I needed. My son lives in Stillwater and we came there because we needed helping advice but got none.

I had the best experience two weekends ago at this Ace Hardware and I forgot to post in reviews.
I helped my daughter purchase an older Lexus. One of the key fob had broke.
They are like 300$ to replace. Took a chance at Ace Hardware as I knew they cut keys. I couldn’t be more impressed by the work they did. I wish I remember the young man’s name but he also owned an older Lexus that the same thing happened to him. He was able to get me a new key and program it. He spent probably half an hour with me as I purchased two keys, I was very pleased!

Today Matt assisted me in finding the right impact driver for some projects and for my abilities. Realizing I wasn't very familiar with power tools, he gave me a brief tutorial on changing out bits and some special features of the tool. Could I have figured it out? Probably. But with Matt's assistance, I left the store feeling confident and looking forward to my projects. Thanks, Matt, for your time and expertise.

I just wanna start out by saying I've always had great experience with this location and with easy pickup when I order online. However, yesterday when I ordered, I never got confirmation that my order was ready. I waited a whole hour. Didn't receive anything. Then I received my confirmation that I could go pick up. However this information didn't get sent to me until after they were closed. Mind you, I called and spoke to an employee asking if I can go in and grab my stuff yesterday before they close. I called because I never received an email. I would always receive an email with in 30 minutes. And I needed it the product. He seemed to be flustered and confused. But he knew which product I was talking about. And he told me that today (Sunday) they open until 6.
So today, I called the phone number and it just hangs up on me. So I'm assuming they close at 5, just like how i mentioned to the young sounding employee. I'm very disappointed that an employee would give me false information, when I wanted to grab the stuff yesterday. Another reason why I called to see if I couldhave picked it up even though I didn't receive an email yet to confirm that it was ready, is because today I worked till five. Please don't give customers wrong info. Now I have to wait an extra day to grab my item I needed!

Went in to ask for help looking for a product on a Sunday afternoon. It was a bunch of teenagers who had no idea where anything was or even attempted to help me. I looked around for an adult who might be supervising these children but none were present. I get it, adults want Sundays off but you should probably just close the store. Went and spent my money at a big box store instead.

The employees here are very friendly and helpful, and I appreciate that the store is well staffed, well stocked, and with knowledgeable staff. There have been a few occasions where I've needed extra help ordering something or exchanging an item that broke, and the customer service here is excellent compared to more "corporate" box store competitors. Having a human touch goes a long way.

Your hours on Google say open til 8 pm but I got in my car and drove to your store at 715 pm and you are closed. It's very frustrating, please post accurate hours.

I emailed the store manager a week ago with zero response so I will share here for others to be aware. I expected more trying to support a smaller locally owned business vs a big box store.
Whoever was working the front of your store on Saturday afternoon 2/3/24 should be fired. I understand finding help is hard these days but you would be better off without them given my experience. I needed a Manchester 5 lb propane tank, this specific brand is needed to work with my older Weber performer grill. Online it shows your store has it in stock, I live in Fridley so I called before I drove all the way out there. I am pretty sure whoever was working the front of your store is who I spoke with on the phone. I very specifically asked him if your store had that brand and size tank in stock and he responded with oh yea we got those. Upon arriving he was standing at the front and I was greeted with a blank stare. I wandered around the store and asked him about what I was looking for. He radioed someone and sent me outside to look for the tank. I couldn’t find anything but encountered another employee and asked them, he led me inside and showed me a Flame King tank but I mentioned I needed Manchester brand. He looked on computer and said your store had nothing. I explained I had called to confirm you had the item before I drove from Fridley. He just said sorry about that. I left the store and ended up driving to a Tractor Supply in Inver Grove Heights for my tank. I was extremely frustrated and wanted to make you aware of my experience. Thank you for your time.
