Beautiful outdoor pool that sees alot of use in the summer. Kiddie pool as well. Nice workout room with updated equipment. Gyms are versatile offering many sports all day. Indoor track and sauna are a bonus. Indoor pool is a bit dated but in constant use.

I go for a sauna sometimes every day, definitely every other day probably average 5 out of 7 days a week, great sauna, gets very hot just how I like it. Very nice facility, always clean and staff is friendly and helpful if needed.

I’ve always been extremely disappointed at how this y doesn’t cater to the MANY families that join each summer for the pool. Family swim isn’t open until noon?!?! Unacceptable! Only one lane taken down for the full family swim. Really??? Baby pool has an obnoxious amount of rules that make us all walk on eggshells instead have fun. Last summer we will do this. I’ll take my money to como pool if things don’t change.

Worst place to go they were mean to my mom and the ladies in the front got in her face it's sad how such a nice place has such terrible people Kayla Mitchel needs to be replaced as well as the rest when something goes wrong they don't care to help swimming should have been a lot more fun for me and my siblings we will never go back

Poor value for how much they charge. Facilities and equipment very dated and dirty too. Many machines don’t work properly. A spider crawled on me as I was working out. Pool only has a few lanes available and always unavailable. They also had water outages and construction outside making it hard to access. Some good instructors here but many are not professional trainers so quality really varies. The price they charge is much more expensive than other gyms with better equipment and classes. I think they give discounts for low income and seniors so this would be a good deal if you can get a discount. Otherwise I would say the value offered is poor.

Great outdoor pool at this YMCA!Unfortunately there are too many cooks in the kitchen there. Communication with members is poor.Right now I tried to go to one of the classes. The schedule doesn't reflect the fact that the Y is closed today due to utilities issues. They definitely should update the schedules immediately to let everyone know classes are cancelled.Big plus: here's why i am likely to be a member long term: the community spirit here. It's not just a business. They have bigger vision of building community.Minus: they are not competitive for pays to instructors. Instructors are paid much under the market rate. Don't have much opportunities for growth. Great instructors definitely can be found here but only those who appreciate the community the ymca brings and can afford lower pay stay here. Those who need to 'pay their bills' with their instructor salary may need to leave to find a better pay elsewhere. Ymca! Do something about it and reward the instructors who bring people to the Y and who help you build stronger community there. Please appreciate them with better pay!

Swimming lessons review: My 4 year old had a very bad experience at the Y (Shoreview location). She is already weary of the water, and her “teacher” had her jump in the water with her hands stretched out (so my 4 year old) thought she would be caught. But, the teacher pulled her hands away at the last moment. Meaning my kiddo would totally dunk under water. My kid hated this. Then, her teacher did it again (after telling my kid she wouldn’t). Now my kid has a fear of water. Thanks, YMCA, for scaring my already unsure child of the water. Never again. She is no longer comfortable in the water.

I would not recommend taking swim lessons at this YMCA.

after my son has completed two levels. we decided to pay for a one-week intensive. the first day they messed up and put my son in the wrong level. too advanced for him. I saw my son struggle in the water and be scared. I had to talk to them for them to notice the mistake. We asked them to do the class again at the same level and his response was that my son learned something in that first class. the second day a child vomited and his solution was to finish the class. We thought we were going to be relocated to an outside pool or have another class to make up for this. They are supposed to be prepared for this kind of situation. perfect two days lost. On the third day I took my mom for company since I have a split toe and it is difficult for me to walk some days. They wouldn't let us in because she didn't have a photo ID. I clarify after months it was the first time this happened. It was never explained to us that this was a norm. And they did it rudely. and they only did it with us since I saw many families entering without requiring identification. We are Latino and we speak Spanish. I don't know if this was a reason to be the only ones with this requirement. I had to go out to the parking lot to wait for my American husband to come talk to them. and surprise with him they were very kind. and they lied saying that they had not told me that. it really was a terrible experience
