Seriously, this is the definition of a horrible gun shop. I feel like Al's Gun shop is Al's wife telling Al he needs to put his guns up for sale or she's divorcing him. Everything is stupidly overpriced. Not antiques but used modern rifles and guns with rust down the bore, rust on the barrel, rust inside the chamber...The majority are used pawn store guns that someone had in a moist basement for years, then Al buys for dimes on the dollar and tries to flip for full price or above MSRP if their less then 10 years old and still sold new in stores.I've been here 3 times, once prior to 2010, once in 2016, and a couple of weeks ago (2024). Never disappoints...Everything is priced as if the apocalypse is almost upon us, and currency is somehow still valuable. If Al's gun shop was at a gun show, he'd be the one everyone looked at but no body picked up, because he's overpriced, low quality, and generally extremely crabby, crotchety old man.I've got $30 guns in my safe and $10,000 guns in my safe (the Barrett is probably worth more now), I've got $100 Sears & Roebuck SxS shotguns and a $8,800 CG Magnus Sporting 12G. I'm not picky about boom sticks, I'm just not shopping for junk and expecting to pay double its value either. The BBQ store across the street is legit through! Definitely worth checking that place out. ?

I would absolutely trust Al with any vintage firearms as well as new. Could probably run an art studio here too.

I’ve known Al for many years. Few people are aware of the assaults, thefts, and human pain he has endured running a business and in service to our country. He is living with PTSD without ever being treated for it. I doubt he’ll ever share this information with you, but sadly, sometimes his behavior is the only side of the story people see.

I like shopping local, but I'm not sure if Al likes anyone, or anything. I'm willing to pay retail to support a local business, but I'm not going to spend 10-20% over MSRP to support a mean old man (something consistent over the last 25+ years of trying to give him another chance). I don't need to rehash all of the experiences- the other one-star reviews captured his essence perfectly. He's not a "character"- just mean and rude. There are other small stores that are soooo much better. Just pull up the Google Map for "Twin Cities Gun Stores" and use one that's highly-rated and well-reviewed... and they'll even accept debit/credit cards (unlike Al). Al is just... Al. If he's having a good day- you'll leave after an unnecessarily-long wait time to be background checked... while having overpaid and being verbally-abused. If he's having a bad day- you'll leave with nothing and verbally-abused. Life is too short to deal with Al willingly, when there are so many other good men and women to deal with locally, with better selections and prices.

Went in looking for non lead ammo and found out he has tons of lead rifled slugs, he also has some collection gun for sale but I need to get back there and buy all of his 3inch slug for my shotgun, and maybe a gun to help the guy out since I love guns also

Rude and belligerent. My friend I came to see mostly if he had any mauser's, no dice, so we were asking general questions about the guns he had and some general questions as I am looking to become a gun owner. What happened next? Began to scream and shout at my friend and I and basically telling us to buy something or leave. Nothing we said or did warranted this response, we were there for 15 minutes.

Al has plenty of weapons and has been in the business a long time, he knows what he's doing

Al was very rude to me and condescending . He charges way to much for his guns. He also pays way to little for used guns. He is a boomer FUDD Just because I am a man in my 20s doesn't mean he knows more then me about firearms and firearm/ammo prices. I would much rather recommend buying firearms through gun broker, and also local shops like dunaway custom arms in Wyoming, bullseye in north branch, and heck even best defense in forest lake. These 3 stores are much more respectful and honest the Old FUDD al. Not to mention AL has no hearing and you have to essentially yell for him to hear you, Buy guns on gun broker , and if your selling a used gun goto dunaway custom arms in t, They are great people who give you a honest and fair price. He has a beautiful store, but His attitude and demeanor are a huge factor in me never returning to his store. He will most likely have a heart attack and stroke any day now anyways, and i am sure his family will auction off his inventory for pennies on the dollar.

Although the hours posed on Google places indicate that the store is open today, it's closed.

Al is a drunk pyschopath. He blasts a 1.75 of Phillips with OJ all day (it on or behind the counter plainly in the open). He screamed at me and waved his arms in the air like a nutjob when I couldn't get the slide to go back in place on a 100 year old handgun. He was grinding his teeth and yelling at me. He said if he could shoot all the 21 year olds who come in who are think they are experts he would. He "wishes it was legal". I'm 35 by the way and I never claimed to be an expert. I just didn't know there where the slide lock was. So I figured out the slide and he calmed down only to freak the F out again when mentioning a better deal I saw on the internet. That's like a death sentence in his shop. So yeah, this dudes nuts. I was the only one in the shop with him and when I left I dipped and never looked back. Sure, he's got cool stuff in there but what a tortured old man. Cash only shop. Cheap FFL transfer too.

Most of the 1 star ratings are from liberals and/or millennials, and his competitors.

Al was cool. Didn't have what I needed, but pointed me in the right direction.

Worst customer service I have ever received!!! The man in the store was nothing but rude, unhelpful, & answered everything I asked with an attitude. He couldnt answer any questions I asked. All he said was I dont know & that he doesnt sell any parts. Will never walk in this store again.
