The Alexander Ramsey House was a treat to tour! This well restored Victorian house was well put together and the guides were extremely helpful in answering any historical questions we might have had.NOTE: for people wanting to tour the house, there is a bit of a steep climb up the stairs so be aware of thatSuper interesting exhibit in their carriage house which featured the life and the actions of Alexander Ramsey, both good and controversial.Overall, highly recommend for families and people interested in Minnesota History

Wasn’t actually open to go inside when I went. It’s located in the middle of a neighborhood with plenty of parking spots. I was able to at least walk around the property and look at anything that was outside.

Magical…completely took us back in time. And, we got a yummy treat at the end of the tour.

The historic tour lasts a little under an hour and allows you to explore all over the whole house, all three levels. What is especially good is that there are different tour hosts in each room of the house so you get many perspectives from folks in period dress who are play-acting that they really live there. When you're in the kitchen, they serve a lovely tray of cookies baked in the wood-burning stove. Our 4 year old granddaughter was interested throughout, but really got excited at the very end when they took us to the playroom and we saw toys from the time. Insights into the lives of the occupants were shared that made it historically memorable. The guide read from letters that were written at Christmastime from the wife to her husband.

One of the best tours we have been on! We had the 10am tour time so our guides were fresh and energetic for the day! All dressed in Victorian type wear and a few namely in the kitchen were playing their role to the hilt! All original furnishings and household belongings made you feel like you were back in time. Will go back again!

A few years ago, I enjoyed a beautiful visit to the Alexander Ramsey House. I picked up the Ramsey family Christmas cookie recipe book. Today I made the Gingerbread Cookies and the flavor was excellent! Don't forget to add the ginger spice as it was omitted in the ingredients. I used 1 tsp of ginger and I baked them on parchment paper. Baking will take longer, depending on the cookie size and shape so watch closely and enjoy. In the pictures you will see my Nantucket Lightship basket that I just finished making.
