Please do not take your loved one to Oakland Nursing, associated with Surgeons Choice in Southfield. My father went into cardiac arrest at this facility and they did nothing to help him other than call 911. What nursing facility does not start CPR??? Ultimately, he never woke up. I have written letters to head staff of Oakland Nursing and Surgeon’s Choice… no response.
Prior to my dad going into cardiac arrest, the nurse had been rude to my aunt and I regarding our requests that my dad be transferred to the emergency room that day for a different issue. We were waiting for her to let us know what their doctors said about transferring him when my dad who had been able to speak just fine started speaking incoherently. I went to the nursing station to let the nurse know, and she told me we had to wait because she was in the middle of shift change. By the time I got back to the room my aunt told me he was unresponsive. The nurse finally left her seat and came when I told her he was unresponsive.
The nurse had someone call 911 but never started CPR. She took his blood pressure saying she couldn’t get a reading. The EMTs started chest compressions when they arrived 9-10 minutes later, and at the hospital was able to eventually get a weak pulse. But he had been down for so long that he never woke up.
I do not want another family to experience what we did. Please don’t send your loved one there.

My husband recently had surgery and he was amazed by the Staff how wonderful they were and Nurse April she was very Amazing! Thank you so much.

They do not issue your overpayment timely. My child had surgery here in early February. I paid for the procedure as it would go to my deductible. When I received the EOB from my insurance at the end of February, I was due a refund of almost $200. When I call, I'm told they see that I'm due a refund but do not have a timetable for how long it will take to issue the refund. How is that possible?! It's been 4 months since the EOB was published. They have their remittance advice showing I overpaid. I'm certain that if I owed them $200 and didn't pay for four months, I'd be sent to collections.

All the ladies on the 4th floor were fantastic.My care was wonderful.They were very concerned helpful and professional. physical therapy was wonderful as well. Thank you. Thank them.

I had neck surgery at this facility, and I was impressed by the absolute professionalism of every single person I had contact with. The doctors and especially the nurses went over and above to make sure that not only was I cared for, but they treated me like I was a member of their own family. The owners of this facility should be proud of the work that their staff does, I know that I am.

Horrible. Avoid! The State found them negligent in providing DNR paperwork to EMS and as a result during the last hour of my 94 year old mother's life she was subjected to intubation and chest compressions. She was a beautiful woman and deserved so much more. Admin told us it was a computer glitch, but the state cited them requiring retraining. Hard to retrain a revolving staff that don't care. My mother needed assistance standing, and yet the wall chart was marked "stands independently. The employee assigned to transfer my mother from her bed to a chair needed to lean against the wall to help herself walk and another nurse or aide told my Mom she has to sit in her own waste because she only has to change her once every 4 hours. Horrible Horrible Horrible. Avoid If you want to speak to me about this you can call me. My phone number is in your system. Btw, I called your admin often, I left several messages with your corporate headquarters ... the list of unaddressed complaints are numerous. Posting online for me to call is smoke and mirrors. Avoid this facility at all costs. Used to be fabulous .. now awful

My 4.16.24 surgery and after surgery treatment care exceeded all my expectations. Not knowing what to expect after a 3 level ACDF surgery I was in excruciating pain. I received excellent care and pain management! Dr Elia is a brilliant surgeon I'm very blessed and fortunate to have him as my doctor performing the surgery. Great surgical team. Many of my neurological issues were absolved immediately after the surgery. My entire experience was very pleasant admission to discharge day. The nursing staff man! yall awesome!!! They know they the best. i must name Rin, Jennifer, Mary, Cecilia, Maria, Heather. wow everybody I salute you. A few names I've forgotten. You are the very best?

The Husband had surgery here and as far as the staff goes he couldn't have been in better hands. They were attentive, kind and very professional. The nurse we saw the most was Mary and I'm so grateful we had her while going through this experience. There was not one person we came into contact with that wasn't polite, warm and helpful. I really appreciate the care they gave to my husband.

Everyone was very kind and gentle. I was there for a minor procedure but it was my first surgery so I was pretty nervous but the nurses were very reassuring. The only issue was the anesthetics nurse Dionza not picking up my calls or returning them for almost a full week. She also laughed at me when I was just trying to confirm the things I had to bring. Terminate her and this place is perfect

I have a friend in the facility currently that is not getting the proper attention that she needs for her wounds. She's been there since Thursday March 28th. She was told today and was told that she would have to wait until Tuesday April 2nd to get her bandages on her wound changed. Her wounds are currently smelling. She is going call and asked to be transferred back to hospital to get the proper care that she needs.

Exceptional staff; very attentive to my needs. I didn't have to call anyone to assist me because the staff was constantly checking in on me. No one ever wants surgery, but I'm pleased on my decision going with Surgeons Choice Medical Center. Thank you for making my experience pleasant.

I am known for not staying in these places and checking myself out. Everyone was kind, clean, gentle and patient with me. My only complaint is the food is horrible and I could not eat options offered. I don’t have everyone’s name but April
and Deborah names stand out and I thank them both and everyone who was part of my care team. Thanks for making a not good experience a better one.

Surgens choice medical center was a dream. My husband received amazing care and attention from start to finish. We were treated with a warm smiling face at the reception desk which was followed by exceptional care from the nursing staff. Hayley our RN, Paris our floor nurse and the nursing assistants Rin, Maria and Sara. Kind and approachable and extremely intelligent I felt at ease knowing Dr. Fiani was our surgeon. 10 out of 10!
