I have been an avid Meijer shopper/supporter for the last 20+ years. Unfortunately the Royal Oak Meijer is one of the most poorly managed businesses I have ever seen. Extremely long checkout lines (30+ minutes) and very poorly managed inventory (out of stock on significantly more items than other Meijer's). Although this Meijer is 2 minutes from my house, I typically drive 25 minutes out of the way to a different Meijer. I decided to give the Royal Oak Meijer another chance this weekend and experienced more of the same. At this point, I think it's time to give the Kroger down the street a chance. This Meijer is giving a bad name to what I have always thought was an amazing grocery chain.

I used to shop here often when this was on my route home. I was at Home Depot and decided to swing by to see if I could find any magical unicorn stuff. No, not for swingers (lol) but for my daughter's seventh bday on Dec 22. Luckily, the Christmas crowds weren't bad when I was there that I could wander and still be socially distant. I found some unicorn bath bombs and a unicorn thermos. The self checkout barely had a line so I cruised through it.

Haven't been to a Meijers in awhile since I live on the West Coast. I visited this Meijer location twice on my trip to Michigan and I can't complain. They had everything I was looking for and more. Everything was stocked well and I appreciated their variety of brands. I was mostly surprised by their alcohol selection. It was larger than I remember and they had plenty of craft beer from local breweries. I love supporting local, so I grabbed a few to try and they were all great! They had everything I needed and the lines to check out were fairly short and moved quickly. They also have a huge parking lot with lots of spaces.

A large footprint grocery and soft goods store, with a small outdoor and automotive/home area, and a large cooking and home furnishings area. For some reason the bottle and can return are in the very back of the grocery area, requiring dirty cans and bottles go all the way down the center aisle of the grocery area. A large produce area area With pretty good quality items, and a large beer wine and liquor area. For some reason, the fresh meat counter is not as large as other locations. The layout of the grocery area is a bit unusual, not intuitive at all. As is the new standard, dairy is in the very back of the store.

Note the other enraged reviews. I thought Tel Twelve was the worst customer service ever. This makes it a tie.Who manages these stores? Who trains these people? Horrible, they do their best to let you know they could care less, they're just punching a clock. Actually laughed about pudding me off.Perks program is a joke, have to jump through hoops with an app to get a couple bucks.I'm done.... I could swear they used to be decent. This is now just inexcusably awful.

TOTAL S**THOLE!! If I could rate these as**oles a ZERO, I would!! The first thing ya deal with are a herd of brain dead 3rd world ghetto slugs as you come in the front door enforcing the "mask demands" of their New World Order (Meijer Corporate & political) slave masters. Rather than catering to the customer, and focusing on the apparently outdated notion of "customer service", now these mega-corporate entities are the ones MAKING DEMANDS upon the customer, and the customer is to bend over and grab the ankles without question!! Then the dutiful and docile mind numbed slaves who masquerade as "customers" aren't much better. Rather than exerting their rights as customers in what used to be a "free market", these mental midgets willingly acquiesce to the demands of the Meijer "Plantation"! If you're looking for genuine customer service in a free market, don't waste your time in this S**THOLE! Take your business to one of the last few remaining FREE markets.....if you can.

They claim to have customer service available from 8 am to 10 pm, however at 9:30 pm on Wednesday night, they were not available to me. Additionally, I asked two employees why customer service was not available and if they could help me, and I was ignored by both of them. What has been my go-to grocery store for my family and I for nine years will now be our grocery store no longer. I suggest anyone reading this take their business elsewhere to a different store where employees are more courteous and respectful to you.

I do most of my food shopping here. They have a decent amount of organic produce. The produce section is always well stocked and maintained. They also have a good selection of frozen vegetables and fruits, including store brand. They stock a variety of non-dairy milks. They have a nice pet section with nice dog and cat toys. So I usually pick up a toy for the pup.The store is always neat and clean.I do try to shop while in the morning to avoid the evening crowds.Greeter is there to enforce face mask usage.I love the new Shop & Scan app where you scan each item with your Iphone and bag it as you shop. The app also lets you know if there are coupons for the item and you can clip the coupon. When you are ready to check out you just go to a self checkout register, scan the QR code on the register with your iPhone and your cart is transferred to the register. Super quick and contact free. Love it! Great Job Meijer! One downside to the app, an elderly woman was giving me the googly eyes and told an employee she thought I was stealing - as I was placing items in bags as I shopped. LOL

There are 2 lines open to check out on a tuesday at 520 pm. How sad that there is no care from management. Lines over half way deep through the store. No reason. 2 people called the store manager while waiting in line to ask them to open more lanes and still no help. Avoid this store!

Waited 15 minutes for someone to show up at electronics, asked around, nobody knew where they were. Employee finally showed up and they didn't even have any of the several things I was looking for in stock. Pretty crap meijer as far as meijers go

Don't go here. They do not attempt to enforce wearing a mask by employees or customers. The Meijer at 13/Woodward is so much better.

I went to Meijer to pick up some things later in the evening I was surprised to see lots of employees not wearing any mask wondering about the store when I got done shopping I went to go check out. All the lines were at least 6 to 8 people long, so I went to a self check out that turned out to be even a bigger nightmare every other item somebody had to come and put a code in because the scanning but wasn't working. Every time I put something down it went down the shoot I had to wait two minutes for it to register it's very frustrating to go to a self check out and having the one person that's running 12 of them have to come to you every two or three items what good is self check out, and then I was surprised I had to be searched by another employee going through my groceries on the way out the door to match my receipt??? I don't need a greeter at the door put them at your point of sale!!!!!

Absolute horrible customer service by some of the cashiers. Really closing your lane without telling other customers in line! Just having you move last minute? Are they supposed to turn off the light?!?
