This place closes early and the tells you that you'll have to go elsewhere - awesome customer service. Seriously, places like this give the rental car business a bad name.

I made a reservation online. Without you knowing, there is an additional cost added to your car rental deposit for prepaying your rental online. It doesn't tell you that at first. When I called to make sure the store I was picking up from did indeed have the vehicle I'd reserved I asked about the cost of the deposit. I hadn't rented a car in a long time. The store clerk told me about the additional fee at that time. I went back and tried to cancel the payment through Amazon which is where the payment was processed. Amazon offered to end the merchant agreement but did not provide clarity on pending payments. I called the store early the next morning hoping to find a way to resolve my issue. Bad move. The store Owner was not helpful nor was he trying to be. His manner was oh well too bad for you. He even jokingly added something about getting my eyes together. The reservation Id made was for a family member. I was thoroughly insulted at this point and decided someone else should take over. I listened to the call my relative made on speaker and again the Owners lack of concern came shining through. All he cared about is what his store was making. Again he was dismissive and rude. We went to the store. In dealing with his rudeness we hadn't addressed the money we'd already paid. In the store the Owner refrained from snide remarks and nasty comments he feigned surprise at why I was upset. He offered a pamphlet with a number to call for a refund. This person doesn't belong in this community. His business is not representative of the multitude of merchants in this area. It felt scammy. Why would Avis/Budget penalize customers for paying early? Make it make sense.

The Avis in Birmingham, Mi., is unprofessional, horrible customer service and did not honor my reservation. The employee go off of their discretion when it come to their policies. First, they let someone who came after me get service before me and told me I had to wait outside because they was only "letting " one person at a time come in, when they seen me grabbing my baby out of the vehicle to go in. But told me to wait outside. And the person wasn't even ready to be served because he was just sitting there inside on the phone. (Later they made another customer wait outside, but let multiple of people come in while I was inside with my baby.)After about 30 minutes they finally let me come in. Then they wouldn't let me use my Debit Card for a rental even though their policy states that I can use my card for the type of vehicle I put a reserve for, and then want to question me about it. After they wouldn't let me use my card; I had to call a family member to drive all they way to their site so they could get my rental with a credit card. They told me they would wait till they got their, but gave my rental away and didn't daddy anything to me the whole time until one customer walked on to get a rental but they said theydidn't have what she reserved and she would have to pay three times more because of the type of car they had left. She was highly upset and just left. After she left I asked them, so do you even have my car that I reserve? They told me No, they gave my car away to a customer who came in right before the lady who left upset. So instead of saying anything to me when I have been sitting there for close to 2 hours, and after they said they would wait till my family who was just pulling up got there to pay for the rental; They didn't have any cars left for me. ? So I got upset, and asked why would you just let me sit here and have my family come all this way just to not have my reservations. They let people walk in while I was in there and a customer asked about wearing a masked, the employee told them they didn't have to even though on the window said you have to have a mask on.... They let people in while I had my child with me. So, instead of taking the initiative to call another Avis, I had to say something to them before they closed and then I would miss my trip.Then they send me to the Avis in Royal Oak, they had vehicles but they only let me pick between only two of them... The Dodge Durango had a weird smell and I'm not really sure what they used to wipe down the upholstery but it wasn't good. So I went with the Toyota 2021 but didn't have XM radio like I reserved and they didn't have the GPS set up in the vehicle so they gave me a out dated Garmin handheld.I really ended up using my phone for my trip. When I got back from, my trip I brought the vehicle back with a over full tank of gas, and they still wrongfully and knowingly charged me over $48.00 for the gas refill service fee, and try to give me some lie to justify it. I don't care about the GPS fee, even though it wasn't useful, but All the money I spent and to make sure the gas tank was full, but still wrongfully charged is very upsetting... I DO NOT Recommend ANYONE to go to either Avis site in Birmingham for their rude, and poor service and lack of professionalism; and Royal Oak for their thievery. I AM owed $48 and I will continue to let people know about this Non Respectful, and poor customer service establishment until I am reimbursed!!!! I have been getting rentals for Years and with No issues whatsoever, but my first time at Avis was the worst.. I rather pay more at Enterprise rentals than come to Avis ever again... I need to speak with someone; I need answers or I'll just keep taking this higher up!!!!

Recently rented from them. I requested satellite radio and gps as this was an out of town trip. The vehicle had satellite but the service wasn’t activated so they removed the fee for that. The gps never worked. My return day was on a Sunday and I arrived shortly after closing so I was billed an extra day. The biggest issue I had was upon return of the vehicle. I filled the tank up prior to returning it. The associate billed be for a tank of gas. I immediately brought it to their attention but I was told initially that I wasn’t billed for gas. However, it is clearly itemized on the receipt. They have given me the run around stating that the charge may or may not fall off. And now my next course of action is reaching out to corporate for some kind of resolve. Be very careful with the people behind the counter. I question their integrity as I am aware this is a commission earning position. But that commission shouldn’t be earned by way of deception.

Easy recommendation - This is our goto with 90% of our rentals. Staff is nice. Easy to tell they're under pressure. Phone constantly rings. Many walk-ins. They ask that a limited amount of guests enter the establishment. Gave us a choice of 2 rides. We decided on a Toyota 4Runner. My wife and I enjoy a larger SUV. Smooth on the road; extremely spacious. Had to wait about 30 minutes before car was ready. We expect delays with anything related to vehicles.

The truck was fine but they tried to charge me 41 bucks for gas... Once i seen it on my card and called them... They quickly corrected it.... But watch your statement... They may over charge.

I’m not sure why this place gets bad reviews. There’s usually only the one guy there working (super busy) but he is always very informative and gives us the best he can. I think he’s doing the best he can regarding how busy he can get. We never get cars that smell like smoke or weed. We love renting cars from this place. They do the job right.

Because each time I come I have to wait cars are not clean smell like smoke each time. The employee are great its has been the second time i came that car is not ready and i had to wait until they cleaned it wash it and i was late to pick it up and it wasn't ready.

Eddie says he is the owner and was very rude! He adds his owns additional fees and ALL HIS EMPLOYEES HAVE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY SAY ONE THING AND DO ANOTHER! They DONT EXPLAIN anything properly. This is the worst location and has the worst customer service. I have been renting vehicles for years in all my years I have never had an experience like this one !

I had several concerns that need to be addressed re my pre-paid Budget reservation.1. I was told, after handing over my debit card, that I needed a credit card for the financial hold. I gave the service person a credit card and was told the credit card hold was accepted. However, after looking at my bank balance a cpl hours later, I see the hold is placed on my debit card, NOT the credit card. That is a major issue that needs to be addressed.2. The car that was originally planned for me was a externally dirty white Jeep Cherokee or Compass. It was so dirty that I couldn't tell dirt from possible scratches.3. Inside the JC was reeking of Marijuana smoke! The service person previously believed and told me the vehicle should be clean internally, though dirty externally.4. The service person traded a different vehicle; after accepting this vehicle, After she walked away, I had to take pics of additional damage not recorded and the gas tank was 3/4s full, not a full tank as expected.Customer service, service excellence, AND service recovery needs to be improved at this location.

The father and son duo is amazing. I've rented from them for years. They give great customer service and are overall good people. I'm in this location often and they never disappoint. Go here for sure.

The car was beyond filthy. There was a thick layer of dried marijuana and cigarette smoke on the inside of the windshield. The car reeked of marijuana when the heat was turned on. When I told the agent of this when I returned the car I was advised they cannot do anything about it. They fine the previous renter $250. That does me absolutely no good. I'm the one who has to clean the car and put up with the odor. It got into my clothes. If I was stopped by the police while renting this car I would have been suspected of driving while impaired due to the odor.
