I would give negative stars if I could. Let’s start with the fact I bring my two sick dogs in and the Dr says to me she’s sure my dog at home has just as bad teeth.. very condescending. (She doesn’t, she’s a lab) blood work was taken and they said everything looked good. Fast forward a few weeks and my one dog gets a urinalysis and she has severe diabetes. How was that missed in blood work??? I’m unable to get blood samples so I make an appointment to have a glucose curve done. They tell me they’ll have her all day and bring the insulin. I brought that and the syringes I had been using. They call me 4 hours in saying the syringes I brought were too small for my fat dog and they can’t continue. Mind you I wasn’t even told to bring syringes. If they were too small, why not use a needle you know would suit her better? When the dr calls me she says I can bring her in another time.. I already missed work in the morning to drop her off and now they want to do it all again? The response to me was “I’m sorry you’re aggravated “. I go to pick up my dog and I tell them I’m not paying because absolutely nothing was done by them and the old lady at the front says she will NOT release my dog to me. Absolutely crazy. Words were exchanged because no way in hell will MY dog NOT be released to me because I refuse to pay for something these incompetent people couldn’t do. RUN FAR FROM THIS PLACE AND CONDESCENDING VETS.

I can’t thank Howell Animal Hospital enough. I took my 11 year old black lab there when his paw was bleeding and they helped me out super quick to get it to stop bleeding. Fast forward a couple of months, I found a mass on my dogs foot. Everyone there took great care of him. We ended up having to lay him to rest, but they made us feel super comfortable. They didn’t try to take advantage of the situation either when it came to pricing. I can’t thank them enough, through the tough time.

I cannot thank the staff enough! We were treated with phenomenal respect and compassion on a very, very tough day. The patience and time that was spent with us while we faced a difficult decision meant more than words can express.

I want to preface this by saying this is one of the most expensive vets in the area. Yet, I drive an hour to have my dog seen. Upon coming to see my vet I was greeted by the two old receptionists, usually the ladies at the front desk are nice enough! These ladies were dealing with an older gentleman who didn’t speak english as his first language. His dog needed immediate surgery and they ask him if he has money for that for which he said little money, Then they go on and laugh and ask this man who is on the verge of tears hearing his dog needs surgery if he is a gambler and start cackling together. The man remains silent. That was SO UNPROFESSIONAL! People who
go here there animals are their children! Behavior like that from the FRONT DESK face of this business no less is so unacceptable. Secondly my dog went in for shots and I paid 400 no biggie, when I asked for an itemized bill since this dog is in my care and I like to know what is happening the lady looked upset and scuffled around as the place was becoming busy but this is your job? I signed the receipt and my husband asked if we were all good to go and she ignored us and we walked out. We will be finding a vet closer to us to be spending so much money just on shots and being treated like this is unacceptable. The vets and vet techs are all great. The front desk needs to work on their attitude and smiles. Will not be going back and not be recommending! You lost a life long customer!

I have debated posting this review as I really do not like leaving negative reviews. My dog was seen at Howell Animal Hospital on 12/5/23. She was seeing Dr. Lindamood for a chiropractic consult. I was not looking to switch care as her primary veterinarian (that I work for, keep in mind) takes excellent care of her. My German Shepherd has had an odd gait since she was a puppy. We were waiting on a consult with an orthopedic specialist at Animal Surgical Center when we were seen at Howell. We have done extensive diagnostics on my dog including multiple set of radiographs since she was one years old, genetic testing for diseases, blood work for degenerative myelopathy, as well as other blood panels. All have been negative/normal. During my consultation with the doctor, I already knew that I would never be bringing my dog back. I was told that my dog has hip dysplasia and that she has been in pain and suffering this whole time because we "missed" a diagnosis. I was told that she needed strong pain medication as well as a "raw diet". As someone who works in the veterinary field, raw diets are a big no for me, but I did not want to be disrespectful so I did not argue. It was extremely off-putting to have her quite literally laugh in my face when I said that we had done radiographs multiple times and had already ruled out hip dysplasia. My dog was later seen by a veterinarian at Animal Rehab Facility in Dexter for chiropractic, and had a work up including CT done by an orthopedic specialist at Animal Surgical Center in Flint. Both of which confirmed she indeed does NOT have hip dysplasia. All in all, the experience was very unpleasant. I was made to feel like a terrible owner when all I wanted was the best for my dog. The front desk staff was rude and acted like it was an inconvenience for you to be there. They were extremely rude when I declined to make a follow up on the spot, as I knew I would not be coming back. I am sure that this hospital has wonderful other doctors and staff, my experience is just what it was.

The medical staff here does a great job. The front office on the other hand is typically hard to deal with, rude and condescending. Typically find myself dreading having to call and interact with them.

The old lady that answers the phone at howell veterinarian is the most rudest inconsiderate secretary. I have come across in a while .. She doesn't give you the chance to explain overtake. You want el reason why you're coming in? Try to explain it to her. Telling me I should just go back to the other veterinarian that I wasn't happy with. Sounds like she's running off business more than making appointments.. I used to really love. You guys a lot for my blitz. But her I will not deal with. The only reason why I went to a different vet. Because I moved 30 miles away. Wasn't happy with them. So I was willing to drive the 30 miles to come back to you. Not any more...GOOD BY!!

We started going to Howell animal hospital about a year and a half ago before We were at Town center veterinarian All they cared about was charging us and taking our money And they could never do anything in house like surgeries and blood work. I am very thankful for Howell animal hospital and always helping us out even with our emergencies. Thank you
