“Told hubby I wanted a quick getaway the weekend before Valentine's (which also happens to be my birthday…yes born lucky!) Hubby did his homework on this one! He put me in the suite at Cochrane House! This place blows every casino hotel downtown out of the water! Yeah just try to book here first…worth it!Now onto the actual experience! Upon entering this breathtakingly beautiful establishment, you will be greeted by two of the cutest sisters (Cina and Rica) you ever saw (sisters in both meanings as they are black beauties of the same parentage)! They will greet you with the warmest sunshine smiles that actually match the warmth and beauty of the very classy elegant place! They assured us they will stop at nothing to make sure your every need or concern is met right away and made good on it too! These smart ladies made sure all your senses were touched starting with the lovely smell of what I later learned was their signature house linen spray (should have asked if they sell it)! Somehow these two young ladies put their heads together and came up with the most beautiful decor! It’s luxurious and modern yet, still feels warm and inviting, calming and very soothing! I don’t know if it was the beautiful art and sculptures or the lovely well thought out and placed furniture and throws. Though, come to think of it, maybe it could be all the exposed brick and stone elements or the gorgeous bedroom with large tv, huge leather sofa, gorgeous king sized bed, luxury bathroom and shower. Maybe, it was the huge kitchen with every amenity known to man! The lovely glass of red wine and the chocolate covered strawberries certainly didn’t hurt! Speaking of food, breakfast sure made “hotel continental” look pathetic! Give me fresh baked biscuits, bacon and skillet cooked potatoes, caramelized onions and great coffee options over runny oatmeal, dry cereal, bagels and the huge drum of too strong, horrible tasting coffee any day! The location of this lovely gem places you within walking distance to many of the downtown attractions the Fox Theater, Comerica Park stadium, Little Caesars Arena and lovely restaurants like Harbor House, Fish bones (our choice!) and Loco’s just to name a few.As if all this glory I just mentioned wasn’t enough, Hubs up his game one more time and surprised me with a full body massage “in house”. Either one of these lovely ladies can set this up for you when you book your stay. Make sure to ask for Ms Lisa Warren! This lady beat so many knots out of my neck and shoulders! By the time she was done, I was putty in my husband's hands! Hey, what happens at Cochrane House stays at Cochrane house! We’ll be back for sure!!! Book them right NOW!!!”

“We had the most amazing wedding here in April 2024. The 8 months of planning were made so easy due to Lizzie and her entire team taking care of everything for us.

The venue is right on the river and on a nice day you open up the garage doors so the venue has a nice indoor and outdoor feel. A lot of bathroom space and elevators make this easy on everyone of any age.

“We hosted our wedding ceremony and reception at The Gem Theatre on 12/16/23. Amber was our lovely sales manager who we worked with from when we booked the venue a year before our event until the week before our wedding. She responded quickly to emails and answered all of our questions with transparency. For weddings, The Gem cannot guarantee that couples can host their rehearsals at the venue itself and is only able to communicate if this is possible two weeks before the event. But Amber knew how important this was to us and was able to tell us that we had secured the venue for our rehearsal a month prior, which took stress off our shoulders! Nathalie rocked it as our venue manager, who handled day-of logistics. She was present for our rehearsal the day before and made sure we were all on the same page. She communicated our vision to The Gem staff so that they could follow suit and coordinated seamlessly with our vendors. The food was phenomenal! We had passed appetizers during our cocktail hour and opted for crab cakes, mini beef wellingtons, and spanakopita. Everyone loved all of them. Same thing for the dinner and bar service. No complaints! The staff was on-point throughout the evening tending to the needs of us and our guests. We personally found the cost of The Gem to be reasonable considering the location within downtown Detroit (right next to Ford Field), the exceptional service, and the gorgeous venue itself. It was also very convenient that the venue has free on-site parking that they let us use for our rehearsal the day before and then for all of our guests the day of. We hosted our wedding on the same day as a Lions game and the fact that our guests could park in The Gem's structure easily was wonderful. The whole event ran smoothly. Whatever hiccups there were we weren't aware of as Nathalie handled them. We would wholeheartedly recommend hosting a wedding at The Gem! Thank you again to the whole team at The Gem for making our wedding such a success!”

“Went there for NYE with other couples.Great staff, very friendly and helpful.Appetizers were excellent and a wide variety to choose from. Steak was cooked properly, well seasoned and served hot. Carrots unfortunately was a hit and miss. Mostly uncooked, the ones that were tasted great. Red skin smashed potatoes were also really good.Place was clean and very well maintained. Plenty of parking and well lit.Only real issue was people being allowed to smoke in the vestibule which filled the hallway with smoke and you could smell it throughout the hall.Will definitely be back for another event.”

“I attended a graduation party in their banquet hall. It was spacious, clean & the bathrooms were updated nicely. I would recommend this facility for future use. Parking was ample for the 100 people that were in attendence.”

“This is not a bad hotel to stay in while in Warren. The hotel itself is very average but it is very clean. The hallways, the rooms, elevators, common areas, the grounds are all really well kept. The staff is pretty nice and helpful.”

“Have been here a couple of times, most recently it was for a Detroit art show where vendors come together and sell products they made themselves. Then, a week late for the Rock Honors, which is a huge event my company puts on to celebrate the big wins of the year. The building is old, full of history, and well taken care of. For sure would like to go sometime for one of the big musical events.”

"Dee" the facility manager was very accommodating and helpful. "Elizabeth" and waitstaff was very responsive to our needs during the event. The location is clean and provides ample parking. We took my handicapped father to see Tim Allen and the amount of friendly and helpful staff made navigating through the crowd with a wheelchair unbelievably smooth. “This magnificent estate including the former Alger family residence and the modern glass addition faces lake Saint Clair and is surrounded by beautifully manicured lawns and gardens. I have taken ballroom dance lessons there and I have seen ads for other community events including: breakfasts with Santa, concerts, art lessons, wine tasting parties and wedding receptions to name a few. So it is more than a WWII memorial, it’s a giant community center.”

“My daughter had her birthday party there last night, and Revolution really went out of the way to make sure everything was fun, seamless, and not rushed. The price is unreal for the package and what's included, way better than some of those other megaplay places that end up costing $600+ for a mid-level experience. Our party attendant made sure we were taken care of the whole time, and she worked around our timing when it came to playing laser tag rounds and putting in time for pizza/cake/presents. They even went above and beyond when one of my daughter's balloons that she was in love with floated up to the ceiling and got a pole to get it down for her. Would recommend!”

“Nice monthly Smooth Easy monthly dance.Nice music and DJ Rod most of the time. One major complaint is no paper towel or hand dryer in the women’s restroom outdated restroom downstairs. It might be different upstairs. Large basement-like party downstairs. Mature (safe) crowd and mostly street parking due to small lot. Limited soul food menu $15-$20 for a short period of time. “From the very beginning the tour, the booking...Emily, Rachel, and Dommonique were all FABULOUS. Rachel handled every aspect and special needs required for my daughters party with excellence. Even when things were not looking great with my daughter's health, these AMAZING women gave me the support, prayer and such a positive outlook when I struggled to see it. They showed me more than one reason to celebrate....Life. Rachel worked with the culinary team to create an amazing menu that my daughter would be able to eat from. Her creativity and passion for her clients is PRICELESS! The culinary team did an AMAZING job with the food! The taste, the texture, the warmth all to perfection. Bravo to the cooks. The servers made sure all of my guest were provided for. We provided our own vendors from the decorator Unforgettable Touch to the Dj...DJ Joey A and the best photographer ever Nayade Photography. Rachel was very accommodating to their needs and times needed to ensure a beautiful and breath taking decor took place. Our host Alex was also the BEST. He looked out for the best interest of the guest and immediately addressed any concerns that I had with out any question. The cruise was beautiful, the scenery spectacular....No event is ever perfect anywhere.....but this amazing team did put a perfect plan into action.
