Independent grocery, Foods for Living, has been an integral part of our lives. With abundant product, pleasant management, some employee owners, great comforting music. We are very sad at the coming loss of this wonderful shopping experience, 20 years for our family. Their business plan may not have been able to survive the new neighbors. Foods for Living will be sorely missed.

They are expensive on some items. That being said, the employees are very nice and helpful and I can get Bell & Evans Gluten Free chicken items cheaper than BH! They're harder to find but so appreciated. They carry many things I can't find anywhere else.So I will gladly shop there.

Foods for Living has been here for Lansing a heck of a lot longer than the newcomers down the street, and there is a reason for that. They have everything you need and lots you didn't know you needed! Spend your money with the (employee-owned) locals, not Jeff Bezos.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff, wonderful selection of products. They've really upped their game in recent years, and now have an excellent produce section as well as the best by far nutrition/vitamin/supplement center in Lansing. It's great knowing I can trust all the products to have been well vetted. Nice array of take out foods, and local eggs and honey. Always immaculate and peaceful.

I am going to break down my rating. The workers are not friendly. They stare when you walk in and don't say hello. I feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed in this store....because of that I took one star off, customer service is important. The prices are high. Foods For Living need to be competitive with Whole Foods and soon to be Trader Joe's. Whole Foods gives you the amazon prime discounts, if you have prime. The deals are goods. Foods For Living have sales, but still ridiculously high. Most stores sell healthy and vegan. There was a time you had to go to speciality stores like Foods for living and Whole foods to buy healthy organic foods. Now you can find most of it at meijer or kroger for half the prid. Each time I walk into this store, it's empty. No other shoppers. I am shocked they're still open, but with Trader Joe's coming soon I wonder how long they will survive. I gave a star because they are local. I gave another star because they still use the machines where you can get food from by the pound. I looooove that. I gave another star because the store is very clean and organized. They do sell items you might not find in other stores, also another positive

I go here for select items. For the most part a pretty good selection although I am bummed that a couple of my staples they no longer carry.

I actually worked here for a year and can confirm that the management is lovely and consist of good, hardworking people. There are plenty of vegan choices and even some delicious vegan options fresh from the deli (vegan BLT, vegan “egg” salad, veggie wraps, etc). There are nice bulk, beauty, and supplements sections and lots of organic produce! Please support this employee-owned, local, health food store so that big corporations like Whole Foods (who purposefully built right across the street from FFL) don't squash these awesome local businesses!
