Although this office is very busy, I highly recommend. 2 years ago I had a very traumatic experience at another hospital with my baby. The other hospital, Black River Clinic, gave me two options: put your dog down now or pay 10k for surgery. I decided to leave the building and came here after it was recommended by two family members. That decision was one of the best I made.
My dog had cancer that the other hospital missed the first appointment, and a collapsed lung as well. She was in a lot of pain, but I could tell she had strength and will to live. I brought her here and they drained the fluid so her lung would no longer be collapsed. This helped her greatly. I remember them doing some other things for pain relief, but it is fuzzy in my memory. They charged me a fraction of what the other vet did. It seemed like they truly cared about my baby. After her appointment, she wagged her tail and had energy I hadn’t seen in awhile. She pulled through another month with me, and peacefully passed away in my arms one night after work. I’m so glad I came here instead of feeling trapped by the other options and that the doctors here gave me so much more compassion and understanding.

Richmond Vet Clinic is where we take all our pets. On balance, we receive solid, competent veterinary services, and their staff is friendly and empathetic.

Love the vets and staff. Difficult to get am appointment. Their visit charges are high. If you go in urgently the charge an Urgent fee AND an office visit and if it is a "surgery", sutures they charge another fee! Humans doctors would never be able to charge an office visit with a surgery fee. $500 in one hour. People can't afford to take care of their dogs....

This is the only vet that will take Trupanion insurance and immediately bill them for you, saving you from having to pay up front and wait for reimbursement.
They also happen to be super nice here, very friendly, knowledgeable, and they are very thorough. I’ve had a couple urgent appointments and they got me in there right away!
I love how they’re open every day and not closed on the weekends. (Because things happen on the weekend!) I can’t see myself going anywhere else. :)

The veterinarians that work here are great But I’m extremely upset at the fact that when you have a serious situation that does not call for an emergency vet visit but a sooner than later visit they don’t even make accommodations to squeeze someone in. They are so booked up without any openings for “my pet is sick” cases. I tried to get my cat in same day or within the week And was basically told there were no openings until September and call back tomorrow to see if there are cancellations, and if I was that concerned to go to an emergency vet. If I’m being honest, I do not have funds for an emergency visit nor do her symptoms require an emergency visit. She is just sick and needs meds. This is the third time I have called for a sick cat within the past few years and got the same response. all 3 times Within 2-3 hours, I was able to get an appointment and have my pet seen and get the proper medication at my old vet who is 45 minutes away. They didn’t have any available appointments either however they made accommodations and squeezed me in. Richmond Vet Has officially lost my business. I guess I’ll bite the bullet and drive 45 minutes to a vet that actually cares when your pet gets sick.

The staff was very nice and the office extremely clean
I brought my 5 month old kitten in for an exam to get neutered. They felt they could do the procedure that day
Unfortunately, my kitten died after getting neutered there. He was aggressive and they would not have been able to do the exam without putting him under. I feel they rushed to do this and it cost me more for him to not come home than the neutering. This was my first visit to this office but it is definitely my last

I never have to wait long at an appointment & the entire staff is very friendly & good at what they do. The only downside is it can be difficult to get in for an appointment & they do charge extra for same day appointments. But I think that’s how it is at most vets

To your response- well check was done in April of 2023 why would it be due in Jan?? Keep lying!! It’s ok.. there are enough reviews that back up my statement about the staff being rude. I have always dealt with the other 2 ladies that work there and have absolutely no problems ever. I assume these are the same ones everyone else complains about. I asked for clarification and got an attitude
I have added a copy of the medical records that you provided me. It clearly says “wellness done” on 1/8 and yes I am aware that it says 2023 but that was an honest mistake as we all make that common mistake the first week NYI did not even have this cat in January 2023, so which is it? The wellness was done on January 8 as documented in this chart or did you document on the wrong cat as I was questioning where my concerns were that were completely disregarded
For one-I never once used foul language, not once. You may review your camera footage to verify not once Did I disrespect your staff! It was, in fact, your staff that had the attitude towards me when I showed them the dr documented wrong. Even after she threatened me all I said was “do not talk to me that way and do not threaten me” . And the medical records are wrong for my cat that was due for the vaccine as she was not ever there in January but yet in the chart it shows that she was there for a well visit, so clearly the person responding to this Is the same person that wanted to argue with me. please look in the physical chart and it clearly says my cat sky was there in January when in fact, it was Cat Max who was there for a new kitten visit prior to his surgery but nobody wants To listen to me. It is In fact, illegal to document the wrong information on the wrong cat so therefore, you are falsifying medical records, and I have proof. Maybe the Dr focused on who they are charting on instead talking about what he lost in his divorce, the documentation would be accurate.
I was the one threatened, I would absolutely never threaten anyone. Your staff need some training in customer service. I was not stressed about finding a new vet, I would never return to an office that is dishonest, money hungry and charts on wrong animals.
I have been taking all 3 of my cats here for over a year with no issues. I called to schedule an appointment for a nail trimming and they told me one of them was due for a rabies vaccine, so I scheduled it at the same time. When I was there they told me the Dr would be in to complete the well visit. I was confused because I didn’t schedule a well visit and they told me I had to in order to remain an “established patient “ even though it wasn’t a year after the last one. That also would have been nice to know before my appointment. Something wasn’t adding up and I asked for a copy of my cat’s medical records and it showed my cat had a well visit in Jan (6 months prior) and when I questioned it, the office staff became extremely rude and argumentative and said it was 2023. I told her the dr just wrote the wrong year and she again argued with me. I told her I didn’t even have my cat in Jan of 2023 so that’s impossible. Once she realized she was wrong she had no answer. I explained that I was worried they vaccinated the wrong cat. Well come to find out they charted in the wrong cat’s record and refused to listen to me. I was told “I must have brought both cats to the visit and I should be thankful it was done free of charge”. I absolutely did not bring 2 cats with me and they refused to change the records. I had obvious concerns and they just wanted to argue and threatened me. They will try to charge you for things you don’t need and then try to cover it up when you bring it to their attention instead of correcting the issue, not to mention document on the wrong animal. They have the most unprofessional and rudest staff I have ever encountered. They obviously only care about money and not the wellbeing of your pets or they would have acknowledged they made a mistake and fixed it instead of threatening the

Had to take our dog she was injured, on the weekend. The wait time was long, but they were packed in there. They were so kind, and gentle with her, and very helpful with everything. Some great people there ♡

First I want to note the staff is excellent. My problem is with Dr. Donovan. She was rude and condescending to me during the visit which ended up costing over $500. A few weeks later I needed an antibiotic. She refused to give it to me without bringing my cat back in. She said he wasn’t seen for the current issue. However, we discussed his current issue a few times during the visit. She even told me the antibiotic she gave me should also help with the current issue. It did not. There is only one antibiotic that I have found to help. Her refusing to give it to me seems like a money grab. I don’t know what else it could be. If not, then she kept poor records of the visit if she has no indication we discussed the issue during the prior visit. I tried this vet once before but decided to try them again since they are close. It was a huge mistake I won’t be making again. Even without her denial of the antibiotic I would not have brought my cat back to her. Her attitude is very unprofessional. There is no reason to treat people poorly like she did.

I have been nervous to find a new vet since moving. I have 3 dogs, two which get anxious at the vet and tend to bark due to being scared in a new environment and strangers. I tend to take my dogs to the vet separately due to this, but it’s not very efficient. I let them know when I made the appointment that two of my dogs were reactive and they assured me that it would be okay. Upon coming in my two bigger dogs were nervous and we couldn’t get their weight so they let us sit in the exam room to let them get comfortable. Everyone was so kind and understanding and made the whole experience not as nerve wracking for me, being anxious as well. Dr. Guisinger was great along with the techs. They answered all our questions and were able to help us will all of our needs. I am so happy to say that I have found somewhere where I am comfortable and I know they will care for our pups, and hopefully with a few more visits they will soon be comfortable as well! Thank you Richmond Animals for the great experience today!

I have been going here for a little over a year now I've always had amazing experience and never had any issues, until today. I had an appointment for two of my cats both for nail trimmings and one I was told needed a vaccine in order for them to do the nail trimming. No problem scheduled the vaccine when I arrived I was told it was a Well visit and was charged for the cat to see a doctor. something wasn't adding upright and I asked to see the records the records indicated my cat had a well visit six months ago. When I question them, they then told me it was my other cat that was seen six months ago and they documented on the wrong cat, which then led me to think they vaccinated the wrong cat So I questioned them and they became very rude and condescending and told me I must've brought both cats and they did a courtesy well check and didn't charge me for one of them which I know for a fact I did not bring both. Not only did they document medical record information on the wrong cat. They wanted to argue with me, disrespect me and asked me to leave because I wanted the medical records of my cats corrected and they told me they could not change a medical record.. I've never been talked to by "professionals" with such disrespect in my life. I have a valid concern that they are not only documenting on the wrong animals but treating them wrong

This place was so compassionate and caring when we had to put our boy down. It was very unexpected but they got us in and didn’t charge us an arm and a leg. The only this I wish they had was lowered lights in the room where we were euthanizing. It was very bright and the combination of crying, made my eyes burn and uncomfortable. They cared for our pup as if he was their own.
